Don't forget when Marrow Gnawer was basically king making on the last attack, could have taken out Yarok and had a easy win. Nope focused down Yuriko when it was the least threat remaining, bad assessment of threats there
The fact that Dom was able to play a T1 carpet AND bop is exactly why you should crack your fetches just before your turn (or when you need to use the mana).
Yeah the deck is very good, but also the rest of the players let him do his thing. Too much concentration on Yuriko (yes I know what it does, I have one).
Yuriko is so much. It interacts by forcing interaction. Rather than waiting on the ramp deck to spin out or the Thassas+Oracle to diddle and tutor 3 times and combo out.
@@fairy-nova5455 yeah agreed. he didn't need that much so it's not entirely a "he won when he shouldn't have situation", but good to keep players honest in that way
Wow, this was such an interesting game. I think in retrospect Zendikar Rising is an obvious target for removal, and reading some of the comments before the video I thought the game would end as a wash. But honestly between Yuriko who can randomly topdeck several extra turns, and a Rat Colony which could basicallly Skullclamp through half his deck, I think my threat assessment would have been muddled as well.
@@brendylove4285 Same here. My budget Jarad costed like 70$ bucks. But i'm still fixing some things. Cuz he is a little random. Sometimes he underperforms, and other times he blows UP whole ravnica with kilotons of damage to the face.
This game shows how some mistakes end up giving the win to the player who most amassed value. Like sorry but zendikar resurgent > black market, just for the color fixing and card draw.
Spoiler Alert: When the etb value deck is never interacted with, it wins pretty easily. Could've been an interesting watch if they weren't all throwing
Yeah swinging at yuriko that last turn was basically kingmaking. The fear of what yuriko can do stopped rational assessment of what yarok *was* doing...
Kinda weird not going against the probably by far highest power deck while knowing zendikar resurgent and sidisi are there. The games the yarok deck has participated in so far have mostly been boring steamrolls. Will sit them out in the future.
@@dorded.1650 yarok is easily one of my least favourite commanders ever printed. It's just so boring, predictable, and either makes the game into archenemy or they clean house
The lack of actual threat assesment this game was just terrible, I mean Yarok showed both a Zendikar Resurgent and a Sidisi, that's a huge red flag there also with Field of the Dead out being left unchecked and other ETB effects it's no wonder the Yarok deck wins everytime. Will be skipping Yarok games till I see actual good threat assessment. Also why wouldn't you point the Crush Contraband at the Resurgent and Clamp
Thalakos Seer draws a card when it leaves the battlefield, so he should be drawing a card before the Yuriko trigger goes on the stack, but I guess he just doesn't know that it draws him a card when it leaves the battlefield to his hand
i guess it was either a missed trigger or peter assumed that it only triggers when it dies or something. Speaking of peter, no clue why he swung at sam the turn he Ninjutsu'd out Throat Slitter. For one it can't kill any of Sam's creatures, and for two, Dom was looking much more threatening at that point
The only reason Peter didn't take the win was because he didn't get any library manipulation and Yuriko whiffed a lot, because he got way more Yuriko triggers than any Yuriko player should have a right to.
This is a weird interaction - at 3:15, you don't actually have to choose between command zone and exile. The way the new cards work (all being in the same trigger, rather than two separate triggers like fiend hunter) means your commander will return from the command zone once banisher priest dies.
Actually, since last year, this is no longer true. The option of putting your commander into the command zone from the graveyard or exile is now a state-based action that happens immediately after the effect that puts it into one of those zones. This causes effects like Banisher Priest to lose track of it and not return it to the battlefield unless you choose to leave it in exile.
@@NMS127 Woah, weird! So instead of a replacement effect, it first goes to one of those zones, and then to the command zone? Is there someplace I could read about this more?

Oh I like this Yuriko deck, it has many original cards! Also Yarok is a fun deck, just don’t build it with carpet, mana crypt and replace birds with wood elves. It’s much more fun this way
to you maybe. Some people like playing dumb op cards and seeing what happens, when you only have a 8% chance of having those on your first turn I don't see what's wrong with that, variance is what makes EDH fun IMO
aren't good tutors one of the biggest pay-offs for playing black in EDH? I find counterspells extremely boring but I'm not gonna tell someone to just go play legacy bc that's their preferred playstyle
Automatically cheering for Marrrow-Gnawer :)
The moment crush contraband happened and it didn’t target Zendikar resurgent, I knew Yarok won and that’s exactly what happened lol

9:21 I love how Sam swooshes away the board :)
did peter missed so many draws triggers with thalakos seer?
Yup!! All of them X_x It's not a may ability. He has to draw when it leaves play. That could've made a huge difference for him.
Magic is a hard game
I was just about to comment this when I saw the very first missed seer trigger. It triggered me lol

Throat sitters a traitor tho. Marrow gnawers pissed
EDH channel-ception
Neon and Trrgr!
Another fabulous game as usual! Keep it up my good man! 😁

Looks like Peter missed the Thalakos trigger on turn three to draw a card and then reveal for Yuriko.

60 rat colonies, 40 swamps

Wow looks like someone brought a really high end deck to a table with casual decks 😯
No decklist?
Thalakos Seer draws a card when it leaves the battlefield, so he should be drawing a card before the Yuriko trigger goes on the stack, but I guess he just doesn't know that it draws him a card when it leaves the battlefield to his hand
It's nice to see a mono white deck doing what mono white decks does best: losing first
Field of the dead cares about lands with different names, he needed two lands to make it online since he had 2 swamps, thus 6 zombies.
Y’all dirty fa how y’all did my manz. Y’all was gunnin for Peter from the jump. Y’all ain’t shit 😆
When thalakos seer leaves the battlefield via ninjitsu would he not draw a card? Or is there a timing issue?

what card is peter's playmat!!!!????
Really thought Sam had this one. Let’s go rats!!!
"Suture" is pronounced "Soo-chur" like "future" with a 'ch' in the middle. Sutures are stitches
Good to know! I'll try and remember that moving forward.
Palincron yawnnnn
Any time I see a rat deck, I know I'm in for a fun time.
Did I miss something? How did the rats have haste?
one rat colony was already out, and sam controlled enough rats to make it big enough to deal lethal damage on its own
Is there a Yarok decklist?
Crash contraband destroying black market is a flavor win

The only reason Peter didn't take the win was because he didn't get any library manipulation and Yuriko whiffed a lot, because he got way more Yuriko triggers than any Yuriko player should have a right to.
Let's face it, Top is practically a requirement for a Yuriko deck these days to get decent trigger value, that or Scroll Rack
