I thought dhw was supposed to be piped right off the primary loop.. so now all summer long the indirect has to pull all the water through the manifolds since the supply and return are the last pump in the run

I have Burnham Alpine 080. I am getting 32 Volts on control board wires leading to my LCD screen so the screen burns. It should be 5 volts. What is wrong?

Not a fan of pressed fittings on a manifold. What is the pipe size of the manifold 1” or 1.25”? If you add up all the gpm flow of all those circulator loops they will far exceed the flow rate of even 1.25” pipe. That can result in noise and pipe erosion from high velocity water. Should be 1.5” with that many zones.

Imagine that plywood flat black. The job would have popped.

Just to clarify what he said at the end about saving money from this conversion. The older boilers efficiency is closer to 85%. the new high efficiency Burnham boiler will be up to 95% when it is condensing, meaning that the return water temp to boiler is under 130 degrees. So realistically the actual savings will be 10 to15%. Best bang for the buck is to air seal and insulate better.

Those numbers your quoting are combustion efficiency only. Total efficiency numbers there is a much larger difference. That older high mass boiler s probably only 50-60% efficiency overall because of losses. The only plus of the old system was it was heating his basement indirectly. High mass boilers have huge losses up the flue pipe.

What is the benefit of having a circulator pump for each zone, rather than 1 pump and zone valves?

That's very clean sir, awesome job. One thing though, I was told expansion tanks should be mounted high as they contain air. Maybe I'm wrong, can anyone clarify

These units require annual cleaning of the heat exchanger to maintain the rated performance.

I’d love to see a 1 year fallow up with these home owners to see if the savings actually materialized!

They do if installed properly, I promise you but, it absolutely needs to be installed correctly but, I live in mass and I wouldn’t let Precision install a toilet, if you live in that area Sila Heating & A/C are the only ones to deal with, you’ll pay but, you’ll get everything you pay for and then some

Low water cutoff is in the absolute wrong spot.
