Those shoes are so beautiful and magical! It was a joy to watch the process and I think your embrace of being a beginner was really inspiring. We all have to start somewhere, and that intentional learning and crafting process can be so meaningful. Lovely video, thank you for sharing!
So glad the beginner compinent of it came across! It's hard to know, even when compiling all the footage at the end, if it ends up as a cohesive theme! We do all have to start somewhere 🥰
This was the coziest watch after such a long day. The process looks so meditative! I'm so inspired to put on my own Foolish Shoes now, even if they are secondhand boots 😂. Thinking about each item made and the inevitable mess ups each time as a diary of skill is auch a good thought. I get that panic of "what if i mess up and have to waste the whole thing??" But thinking of it as proof of the journey is a beautiful way to allay those anxieties. I hope the rest of your holidays filled with rest and beauty!
You created an absolutely BEAUTIFUL pair of shoes, Sorsha!! I love them! (P.S. I thoroughly enjoyed the beach fire views and musical interludes in your video, too!❤)
How very very cool. Thank you for sharing your shoes. I wonder a few things, including making them more fitted in the ankle / lower calf section, and also putting a modern insert in them for arch and heel support. You inspire me to want to make more of my own clothes, but my sewing skills are at the "basic skirt with waistband" level. The increase in your ability based on your work with corsets makes a lot of sense as a next project to explore.
Yes, I think if I build out thr heel of the last a tad more and make a few other adjustments I'll get a better fit at the back of the ankle. I'm definitely catching the shoe-making bug!!! And hey, basic skirt with waistband is USEFUL sewing! Glad you enjoyed the video Sarah! 😘
🤤🥲 What a vlog. That sea and fire!!! I love fires on beaches. 🔥 We can't do them here (against the law 🤷♀️) Your shoe process is mesmerizing. Truly vegging/relaxing while watching. 🧵🪡 Your boots are fantastic! 👞
Thank you Lennan! Yes, that beach fire was soooo dreamy. We had homemade stock and chai from thermoses and I had baked gingersnaps. 💜💜💜 So glad you enjoyed the vlog 😊
Oh wow 😍 I follow some historical sewing channels, but I’d never seen anyone make shoes! Yours turned out great! The embroidery detail was so beautiful (and the concept of donning the shoes of the fool is so powerful). My favorite thing about hearing about your practice is your emphasis on symbol and ritual, even in simple everyday things or practices. Symbol and ritual were always a central part of my spiritual upbringing by my parents (in (a fairly non traditional) Catholicism). Ever since I started developing my own spiritual practice I feel like my main goal has been consistency, but as I’ve become more consistent I’ve been yearning to bring back ritual into my life. Your videos are always an inspiration ❤️ Happy new year Sorsha!
Happy New Year Mariana! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video 🙂 I love what you have highlighted here about ritual and symbols. It *is* something very special. It makes sense to me... and it also doesnt take much... except perhaps prioritising curiosity in one's pursuit or development of the symbolism & ritual that matters to them! 💜
Magic shoes ! Chaussures magiques ! Magnifique ! The embroidery is very nice and I would totally wear thoses ! I really like the process to make them !
Those magical shoes are the best. If I were a kind of dark fairy queen I would come to your house during the night and buy them, with elderberries, feathers, old buttons and a lot more of my fairy money, because they are worth it. Alas I have to be content with my old sneakers😅
"I drew cards and made some shoes." Wai, WHAT?! 🤣 How are you so magical? Also, you're sewing machine is everything. Final result shoes look amazing. I would totally wear that. So sorry for all the feels though. ❤️

Secondhand boots totally count! I'm so glad you found value in the video 🥰

@@SaoirseGraves totally! I think that’s why symbols are so magical 💜
This was the most magical thing I have ever seen. You just whipped up a pair of beautiful shoes plucked from your imagination! Outstanding. xo
Aw, thanks Grace! 🥰 That's so kind of you to say! I'm glad you found magic in it, it certainly felt magical for me!

Haha that's lovely imagery. 💜 And I definitely know the feeling of having to be content with sneakers!

Haha thanks Benebell! 😂 I'm so pleased you enjoyed the shoes! 💜 And yes that sewing machine is such an experience!
