that was me right there at the buffalo’s back when i was same age as the boy. every day after school, i would feed the buffalo in the paddies riding its back and daydreaming. hard life but simpler, happier times. i would someday go back and live that life full of fantastic memories. thank you Slice for bringing me back part of my youth. keep it coming.
I am an old white guy, but graduated H.S. in Taiwan. I had the opportunity to get up close and personal with a water buffalo there one night while drinking some beer with buddies. Pretty stupid considering both the animal and myself were complete strangers, and the owner was no where around. No harm, no foul.
Beautiful. Who gives thumbs down to this video right away? That is call jealousy and insecurity to scrutinize other's work. Get a life losers.! Thanks SLICE....
Great documentary as usual, but the ending sentence could be :"Soon the forest will reveal more secrets to him..." rather than "Soon the forest will hold no more secrets for him" This is not accurate, for forests never run out of secrets or for that matter mysteries man is simply too bewildered by to know or master!
Much Thanks to you SLICE!💝 great doku. and i love the music, makes me happy we have since yestreday a fiew havy thunderstorms and till now havy rainfall. i feel connected to this wild mysterious world.....👀🌎

It's nice to see a father teaching his kid how to live and survive in their territory base on the tradition. I also like to commend the cameraman how he shot the intense moment when the father releases the lizard so that his kid chase and capture it. New sub here ;)
This docu.. Reminds me in my childhood in our little island in samar pacific ocean back in the days we hunt for monitor lizard"bayawak"in tagalog and "halo" in waray language for food..
This boy has passed his secondary school level education in the jungle school.he indeed is a brilliant student to pass those exams in such a young age.
That is how humans used to live. child hood ended early. I remember the story of my father who was a farmer (I am 80.) who left school early to take care of his mother and younger sibs after his father died . He went to work at 10 age.I never knew that he did not finish school, he could not yet we were well taken care of. This whole thing of teenage hood is mainly related to culture. It did not exist until after ww2.
No, they are not Mong or H'mong. They M'Nong. It's a different group. H'mong are in the north near the border with China. This is in the south near Cambodia.
I'm going to second that - how is his life hard? He gets the run around the forest, be close to nature. Fishing? Catching snakes? Sounds like a boys dream - a true Tom Sawyer there.

a beautiful peaceful life
The boy is very young to be starting work but that's how it is.
Life is so often just basically about survival of the fittest.

Putting the little boy in danger. Not good.
