  • At Knobcon 2017, we got an update from engineer Paul Schreiber of Synthesis Technology on their WaveEdit waveform editor and their two new wavetable VCOs, the E352 and E370.
Together, they make an extremely powerful platform, opening up lots of possibilities for wavetable synthesis with modular synths.

There is a room in my house. Everytime i go in there i enter a spaceship called E370 and enter into a whole universe of sounds. I got missing very often. E370 is "perfect" and the man behind it a genius. E370 through a Strymon Big Sky Reverb is pure audio gold! Burry me with my E370.

paul has transcended simple human desires for harmonicity and recognizable musical structure. settling down in a nice fluffy armchair with a glass of port and enjoying the subtleties of a demonic 'soitenly' is enough for this legend now.

The Three Stooges never sounded so horrific!

Lots of good info here, even if the custom wavetable Paul is demonstrating sounds a bit unpleasant on the E352. (I can vouch for the E352 sounding perfectly sweet when running other wavetables)

Some folks have 'complained' that the E350 is "too smooth for my taste". With 3 added Glitch settings + selecting a 'percussive' wavefile, you can be 'nasty' :)

Paul would probably admit that he is very skilled at making unpleasant sounds. He used to always invite Robert Rich along to events to handle the audio demos.
Wait until Martin Doudoroff gets ahold of this, though!

Just you wait! I shall set a new bar for unpleasant!

"every individual output is actually a mixture of all four voices". Is that remark an error? Can't run this as a four voice if that is the case (different pitch CV per voice) - unless each voice has it's own mixer in software where you can turn down the volumes of the other voices. Surely each audio output can be the audio for just that voice.

What he means is that output 1 doesn't have to be Oscillator 1. You can mix all 4 outputs as you wish for each individual output. So Out 1 could be Osc 1, Out 2 could be Osc 2 and 3. Out 3 could be Out 1 and 4, and Out 4 just Output 2.
Super handy for creating Sub mixes to route different Oscillators to different processors.

I'm already patching this thing every time I see it demo'd.

Yes - time for a bigger case, though!
