- Truck 50 responding to assist Station 63 (Lafayette) on a reported building fire. The cause was determined to be a burnt up A/C unit, and the Truck crew cleared within a few minutes of arriving. Willow Street Fire Company. Taken 9/11/2020

Excellent ride along. Hearing the Q always takes me back to the days I worked on an ambulance. If was by far the best tool to unclog a clogged path. Sometimes used both horn & Q as you sometimes do if I remember some past videos. You guys stay safe! 🚒🇺🇸

Yep, same thoughts here. I've heard from a couple senior guys that they burned up a couple Q sirens in their time by doing just this. Lol
That's right. White noise gets lost in the "universe". I think some people like the siren a little too much. Like the trucks that are SCREAMING through empty streets and country roads. Wtf?
Exactly right. If you don't let it breathe, drivers down range have no clue, it's just white noise to them

Red Baron we got tons of those here! Power company doesn’t seem to care neither! Went to a drunk driving accident where the idiot took off the bottom 15-20 feet of the pole. The top just hung in mid air. They didn’t fix it for WEEKS! I laughed every time I drove by it.

can someone explain to me how the wail siren works is it like controlled by the a person on the inside or is it connected to the gas pedal or is it automatic
It's not a wail siren it a federal Q2B and yes it is controlled by a foot pedal on the officers/passengers seat side.
What was the deal with the 3 spinning lights on the front of these & other trucks.

Love the Q you guys have in the US, but that other repetitive "wow-wow-wow" siren is possibly the most annoying noise ever created. How the crews put up with that is beyond me.

It’s called a pinwheel light, it’s basically just a light spinning really fast
It’s a roto-ray and has been used for decades specifically for ladder trucks that can’t have much lighting on the front due to the ladder over hang.
What is that damn spinning thing? Are those lights? Ridiculous.
It’s a Roto-Ray light it’s an old design but still used in some departments.

A tower has a bucket. A stick has just the stick. Truck is used for any aerial device, as it is called "Truck Work," but you are correct in that it is a tower

There's american engineering for ya. Bad sirens, have to use the Q, bad breaks, have to use the jake all the time, too big to do a good right turn, too wide to squeeze through a garbage truck and a car.

@Leo Yang as Englishman I agree they do look really nice compared to boring smaller Volvo fire engines but they are tailored for our really narrow streets you would get a us fire truck round the majority of UK roads.
