This cut chapter seems to show that it was originally possible for Connor to actually catch and arrest Kara on the highway. In the final game, that's not possible. Connor will catch Kara for a moment, then Kara will push him off of her. I REALLY wish this was kept in the game! It would've been amazing seeing Connor and Kara interact more and seeing more of Connor's deviant behavior.

With this scene Connor actually become a deviant completely and the game allow Connor to be a deviant only in the end so that's why It is not in the game

Maybe if he didn't go and take the doll it would have been possible to include it, but also his deviancy is very gradual, and that big of a step would be too much this early in the game. Maybe include it between Kamski's choice and Last Chance, Connor ? There's only a few days between the chase and that, so maybe that would work.

That should of be a secret pathway for Connor. Another way to become Deviant. Either Hank gets Connor to become Deviant. Or seeing Kara and Alice and now him breaking through the barrier. And Hank in shock of why he let the ‘‘em out. And then Connor responded in a confident tone saying that maybe it was the right decision he did
I always wished more came from the Kara and Connor chase. In deleted scenes he talks about it with Amanda and I don’t understand why they removed that from the game? I also never understood why kara and Alice’s bodies weren’t in the evidence room if they died on the highway.
It may of been because it may of been too graphic to had shown the body of an child who was hit by a car and even though Alice was an android, it still wouldn't had been appropriate so the director probably told the developers to scrap that idea.

Well the police didn't know if any of the presented deviants knew about jericho so it doesn't make any sense. From the realistic point of view I agree with the commenters above that showing a dead child, even if it's an android, would be too graphic, and also it completely neglects the reveal scene with Kara. Yes not every player would get Kara and Alice killed on the highway and in other circumstances it would be great to give the player an option to learn it other way but not when you have three different points of view. It just doesn't make sense. The reason for the reveal is not only to shock the player or confirm his doubts/theories but also to make an impact on Kara as a character. And from the games point of view I think that Kara's and Alice's bodies are just too messed up to learn anything from them hence why they aren't present with all the other evidence and leads. I mean they were literally ran over by the cars going on damn high speed and probably multiple times since it's hard to stop or maneuver on the highway @@XXLoderunnerXX
If the ever decide to make a sequel to this game or a spin-off. It would be so cool to see something like this where Connor and Kara meet after the events of the first game
Wow, I wish modding tools besides just model swapping were more widely available for this game. This is a really cool addition. I’d love to have a few extra scenes like this to help flesh out some chapters and outcomes.
HOLY SHIT, this is actually insane. I still think the transition to the bridge scene works well in the game bc it's more about Hank's own view of the Tracis being in love (bc he didn't realize that could be possible between 2 deviants), which causes him to question Connor's own motives and deviancy as well. And the option to 'Shoot/Not shoot' the Tracis is pretty much equal to the options 'Release/Do Nothing' for Kara and Alice- but it's crazy how natural this is, I could honestly just have a full game of Hank and Connor!
OH MY GOD! I LOVE THIS. It really fits as Connor most likely doesn't know that Alice is also and Android (Seriously, how the hell didn't his programming take that into consideration? There was no way of him knowing that she was not a human child) and also it's just so cute seeing them actually interact with each other, along with the fact that the software instability has more than ONE freaking usage. It sucks that this was cut.

Six years. This game has been out for six years, I've been obsessed with this game for SIX. FUCKING. YEARS. *AND I STILL FIND NEW STUFF REGULARLY* How is that possible ????? The fact that Connor was able to do things at the very start like save the fish shows that he's already deviant, but he's still conditioned to act more in accordance with his missions bc his main trait is that he's afraid of being a 'failure' in the eyes of the humans. Freeing Kara and Alice who are needed for his main investigation on deviant androids would be too early of a switch-up for his character arc.

After giving Alice her plushie, does Connor’s timer run out? Does he get sent back to cyberlife?? And does this have a cross chapter impact? Like when you don’t shoot the Tracis, hank brings it up in “The Bridge” chapter……. And previously I’ve heard that gavin in that outfit is wearing a lieutenant badge? I'm so glad that you like it. We sadly do not know what impacts these choices would have had, but surely they would have impacted The Bridge strongly at the very least with Hank having witnessed this event. This scene as it is only has a few variable names and faint script references left which this video is based on. But the exact content you see in the video, like the intro, Hank snoring or the specifics of how Connor frees them were all scripted by me and designed in my modding tools :D I'm glad you like how it came out

Woah, you seriously invented this whole scene yourself with just an animation state and a few lines of text describing the idea? That's honestly incredible, good job. You can definitely tell it's invented by the lack of any unique dialogue, but your choice of dialogue to splice in place was appreciated. Props for having that other guy be released as bait/a justification for how Kara and Alice would even have a chance at leaving after that. Ultimately, I think I can see why this scene was cut before any real work could seemingly happen on it though. It's so *early* in the story, and the very real possibility of Hank seeing it happen messes with the authenticity of scenes that happen later. That, and while accessing the evidence room so easily at this point in the story makes sense (they're still on the case, after all) it still just sort of causes issues for way later in the story where the evidence room is used with more importance. Still, I wish an option like this could have been kept in the game. Some sort of radical deviant option for the player who's gotten all the highest software instabilities so far. Could have offered a very different feeling scene with Hank when he's drunk and pondering Connor's sentience.
Thanks for the kind words. That's indeed what I did. We since discovered some more evidence and it seems the scene was probably slightly more sensical from Connor's current place in the story. As far as it seems Kara and Alice were probably in the interrogation room instead and you could bring Kara a glass of water and Alice the doll as possible means to get them to open up to Connor. Then something happened were Kara/Alice have a chance to escape and it's possible Connor assisting them was merely deciding whether to apprehend them or letting their escape play out, similar to the Traci choice, as the only details we have is that Connor is the playable character of the chapter and that Kara escaping is conditional, but it's not specified how she would escape or not escape, obviously Connor as the player has to be involved, but it could be anything from active to passive assistance. On that note it should also be said that this chapter seemingly would replace Eden Club entirely after Russian Roulette (as Connor simply is given priority for this day to interrogate Kara instead of checking out the club). So in that sense it makes sense Kara's escape would mirror the Traci one to take its place in The Bridge for Hank's speech. While this sounds super cool, another reason this branch might have been cut is that The Eden Club was probably quite time intensive from a dev standpoint and they didn't want players to miss it when they get arrested in On the Run

When I first played this game I was so happy and excited to make Connor a deviant. I’ve played this many more times but that first Connor deviant moment will always be my favorite.
This cut chapter really one of the softest and most emotional scenes in Connor's line, as sweet only the post credits scene between him and Hank... but I wouldn't want it in the storyline because it's too deviant behaviour. Connor's story to me is the most compelling in any version, simply because we really do have a choice of who to be and what to do. He can choose to be a deviant or a machine unlike the other characters. Plus his actions are always appropriate, always quite rational, which is why he doesn't automatically become a deviant, but chooses to do so in a critical situation where the fate of the androids depends on his decision. This scene is too human, so there should be a "become a deviant" choice here, but episode isn't even in the middle of the story.
I actually consider it a crime that Connor can't choose to deviate because of Hank. He literally becomes human because of three things: being forced to kill (unjustified in most cases), violence against androids, and his relationship with Hank. Sure they have ton of moments where they influence each other to change their beliefs, but I'm sorry that in the original story the relationship radically affects only Hank. Literally look at the plot development: all of Hank's emotional reactions when Connor is in danger... He really calling him son in the tower and caring for him exactly as a human being, or when he yells at Connor on the roof because he's terribly scared for him... Moreover, the new version of Connor brought Hank into the tower to manipulate the deviant. In bad endings, their relationship is still central to the storyline. Hank will either kill himself or go to stop Connor (read fight for his humanity) because he's really become something important to him over the course of their partnership. I'm not even talking about how emotional the post-credits scene is... just them on an empty cold street, the looks and the smiles and the way they fall into each other's arms... it's too much for me, it's the most sincere and warm moment of the whole game. Anyway the changes they brought to each other's lives deserved that choice "become a deviant".
We really need a remastered version of DBH. It would be really cool to see better graphics and maybe animation. Could also be a chance to add in cut scenes like this one :)
This is really well done! Great job! I think that Connor is a living machine from the beginning, but he's not a deviant until you break the walls while talking to Markus. Considering all the informations in game, probably being a living machine and being a deviant are two different things. Deviants look more like machines with some bugs because they don't do anything compromising until they brake their rules. Connor can do whatever he wants from the beginning, with no need to break the walls. So this fan made game is very accurate!
Yeah, there’s no way that Connor isn’t a deviant after releasing Kara and Alice from police custody. Also, it’s both amusing and heartwarming that he literally broke into the evidence locker just to give Alice back her toy.

It's good they didn't added it to the game. Because it's very strange a human kid (alice and player doesn't know she is android) was left in the cell with dangerous unstable android with free will. At this moment i should start ask questions, and news on the ship wouldn't surprise me like in was in original
My question is: What would the ripple effects for Hank be? He catches Connor in the act, so??? Also: What about Amanda? I’m imagining this would have a HUUUUUGE decrease in relations with Amanda, like, BETRAYED level, but what dialogue could Amanda have? Could Connor convince Amanda and return to trusted status, or would it be a permanent betrayed?
Honestly wish this made it in. I feel Kara should've had more involvement and impact on the overall story. It would've made her story more replayable, since imo she doesn't have much variety in her story as compared to Connor and Markus. It also feels like most of her story is disconnected from the other characters (especially since even if you don't have her become deviant you can still get the major endings).

Connor frees the other prisoner in this version of the scene to make a distraction. Unsure exactly how the scene would’ve let them escape in the actual game/original draft.

Yep as Cobalt pointed out, there is some early scripted dialog (it was never voice acted) saying the following: X0405K_HIGHWAY_START_PC_CHOUCEGROUP01_SURRENDER = "SURRENDER" X0405K_HIGHWAY_START_PC_X04KKARA_SURRENDER = "It's too dangerous, Alice. We can't go any further… I'm sorry…" Plus a cross chapter variable tracking this event. Then there is a cross chapter variable with a designation placing it into the deleted Connor chapter saying ConnorReleasedKara. Plus a bunch of other variables of things you could do around the police station that they planned. 2. I have no idea what QD planned to allow this escape, so I came up with my own scripted version. In my script Connor released the other prisoner here that got placed in the cell during Waiting for Hank to cause a distraction on the side of the police station where Hank is sleeping, which keeps the entrance side of it mostly unanttended. Gavin is off in the evidence locker room and would miss all of it. As shown in the intro, the station is mostly emptied in the middle of the night, allowing their escape during the mess. But this is all my personal fan fiction since we don't know the specifics 3. I have no idea, but the script mentions the ability for Connor to carry Alice's toy around during gameplay in this chapter, so I came up with this premise purely because it's adorable :D

I can understand why they delete this, i dosen't make sense that connor wanted to let Alice and Kara go free, he's no deviant at the moment, he has orders, he can´t think "No, this is wrong" because he's a machine and need a process of trauma in order to activate the deviant treatmet, is a nice scene where you can show a good side of Connor, but is not well made, also if this happens when you see the pacific march of Markus i dosen't make sense, and Kara and Alice can't meet Luther or go to find Rose since they have no car and no lead and the revolution is close to start, is a nice scene but i dosen't fit well sadly :"3 I was interesting thought seeing the detective Reed with another outfit and Hank sleeping at work xD

It's just criminal that DBH was not given the option to arrest them so that we can have this. I'm not a gamer, I only saw the storylines and some playthroughs, but damn it! This would have added more emotion to the game. UGH! WHY?! Thank you, dragonbane for this. Edit: I think I just realized why this scene wasn't added. If Kara and Alice were arrested during the chase scene, then they would have most likely not gone to Zlatko's place, never met Luther who would lead them to Rose and Adam and probably never go to Canada. That's just how I see it unless someone else has any ideas.
well, if they doesnt go to zlatko's house and cant be free, so the game just follow to "concentration camp" level or something, while other chapters with connor and markus happens
I feel like i was robbed of an intertwined storyline with connor and kara. I was really excited for the game before it came out and i kept watching the trailers and one of the earlier trailers had the scene where they stare at each other through the fence it was all tense and singled out so i was like "oh??? Android romance???" But then they never interact.
It’s a shame that this chapter was cut from the game and I wonder why Quantic Dream did that. It almost reminds me of that one chapter from Heavy Rain where Jayden tried to free Ethan. Btw I loved it when Connor gave the toy to Alice and smiled at her. Pretty cute moment. 🥰
Man wtf this should've stayed in the game, I feel like this really gives more depth to Connors deviancy and how it develops pretty early on, also helps Hank see the liveliness in Connor, definitely wish this was added to the original game! (It was also kinda cute how Connor gave the plushie and smiled back at Alice 😭)
I like where when you spend time doing evil things to the corpses for information, the other investigator shows up to kick you off the case. But if all you do is grab Alice's plushie, he's on his way down and just gruffs at you. A little peek into the timing of him heading to the evidence room, and an insight that he didn't intend to find you going through evidence.
Man this would be such a wholesome moment. I mean, hank would be able to finally confirm that connor was not just an android, but a kindhearted human like android, even greater than a deviant. I wish you could provide a link so that we could add this chapter to our game in PCs or PS4s, I guess that isn't possible :(

I always wished more came from the Kara and Connor chase. In deleted scenes he talks about it with Amanda and I don’t understand why they removed that from the game? I also never understood why kara and Alice’s bodies weren’t in the evidence room if they died on the highway.
It may of been because it may of been too graphic to had shown the body of an child who was hit by a car and even though Alice was an android, it still wouldn't had been appropriate so the director probably told the developers to scrap that idea.
It’s probably also to preserve the surprise of Alice being an android if people chose to replay it after having that happen first

Well the police didn't know if any of the presented deviants knew about jericho so it doesn't make any sense. From the realistic point of view I agree with the commenters above that showing a dead child, even if it's an android, would be too graphic, and also it completely neglects the reveal scene with Kara. Yes not every player would get Kara and Alice killed on the highway and in other circumstances it would be great to give the player an option to learn it other way but not when you have three different points of view. It just doesn't make sense. The reason for the reveal is not only to shock the player or confirm his doubts/theories but also to make an impact on Kara as a character. And from the games point of view I think that Kara's and Alice's bodies are just too messed up to learn anything from them hence why they aren't present with all the other evidence and leads. I mean they were literally ran over by the cars going on damn high speed and probably multiple times since it's hard to stop or maneuver on the highway @@XXLoderunnerXX
If the ever decide to make a sequel to this game or a spin-off. It would be so cool to see something like this where Connor and Kara meet after the events of the first game

HOLY SHIT, this is actually insane. I still think the transition to the bridge scene works well in the game bc it's more about Hank's own view of the Tracis being in love (bc he didn't realize that could be possible between 2 deviants), which causes him to question Connor's own motives and deviancy as well. And the option to 'Shoot/Not shoot' the Tracis is pretty much equal to the options 'Release/Do Nothing' for Kara and Alice- but it's crazy how natural this is, I could honestly just have a full game of Hank and Connor!
OH MY GOD! I LOVE THIS. It really fits as Connor most likely doesn't know that Alice is also and Android (Seriously, how the hell didn't his programming take that into consideration? There was no way of him knowing that she was not a human child) and also it's just so cute seeing them actually interact with each other, along with the fact that the software instability has more than ONE freaking usage. It sucks that this was cut.

The fact that Connor was able to do things at the very start like save the fish shows that he's already deviant, but he's still conditioned to act more in accordance with his missions bc his main trait is that he's afraid of being a 'failure' in the eyes of the humans. Freeing Kara and Alice who are needed for his main investigation on deviant androids would be too early of a switch-up for his character arc.
Because then people would find out Alice is an android.

After giving Alice her plushie, does Connor’s timer run out? Does he get sent back to cyberlife?? And does this have a cross chapter impact? Like when you don’t shoot the Tracis, hank brings it up in “The Bridge” chapter……. And previously I’ve heard that gavin in that outfit is wearing a lieutenant badge? Does this mean that hank is no longer lieutenant?

I'm so glad that you like it. We sadly do not know what impacts these choices would have had, but surely they would have impacted The Bridge strongly at the very least with Hank having witnessed this event. This scene as it is only has a few variable names and faint script references left which this video is based on. But the exact content you see in the video, like the intro, Hank snoring or the specifics of how Connor frees them were all scripted by me and designed in my modding tools :D I'm glad you like how it came out

Woah, you seriously invented this whole scene yourself with just an animation state and a few lines of text describing the idea? That's honestly incredible, good job.
You can definitely tell it's invented by the lack of any unique dialogue, but your choice of dialogue to splice in place was appreciated.
Props for having that other guy be released as bait/a justification for how Kara and Alice would even have a chance at leaving after that.
Ultimately, I think I can see why this scene was cut before any real work could seemingly happen on it though. It's so *early* in the story, and the very real possibility of Hank seeing it happen messes with the authenticity of scenes that happen later.
That, and while accessing the evidence room so easily at this point in the story makes sense (they're still on the case, after all) it still just sort of causes issues for way later in the story where the evidence room is used with more importance.
Still, I wish an option like this could have been kept in the game. Some sort of radical deviant option for the player who's gotten all the highest software instabilities so far. Could have offered a very different feeling scene with Hank when he's drunk and pondering Connor's sentience.
Thanks for the kind words. That's indeed what I did. We since discovered some more evidence and it seems the scene was probably slightly more sensical from Connor's current place in the story. As far as it seems Kara and Alice were probably in the interrogation room instead and you could bring Kara a glass of water and Alice the doll as possible means to get them to open up to Connor. Then something happened were Kara/Alice have a chance to escape and it's possible Connor assisting them was merely deciding whether to apprehend them or letting their escape play out, similar to the Traci choice, as the only details we have is that Connor is the playable character of the chapter and that Kara escaping is conditional, but it's not specified how she would escape or not escape, obviously Connor as the player has to be involved, but it could be anything from active to passive assistance. On that note it should also be said that this chapter seemingly would replace Eden Club entirely after Russian Roulette (as Connor simply is given priority for this day to interrogate Kara instead of checking out the club). So in that sense it makes sense Kara's escape would mirror the Traci one to take its place in The Bridge for Hank's speech.
While this sounds super cool, another reason this branch might have been cut is that The Eden Club was probably quite time intensive from a dev standpoint and they didn't want players to miss it when they get arrested in On the Run

When I first played this game I was so happy and excited to make Connor a deviant. I’ve played this many more times but that first Connor deviant moment will always be my favorite.
This cut chapter really one of the softest and most emotional scenes in Connor's line, as sweet only the post credits scene between him and Hank... but I wouldn't want it in the storyline because it's too deviant behaviour.
Connor's story to me is the most compelling in any version, simply because we really do have a choice of who to be and what to do. He can choose to be a deviant or a machine unlike the other characters. Plus his actions are always appropriate, always quite rational, which is why he doesn't automatically become a deviant, but chooses to do so in a critical situation where the fate of the androids depends on his decision.
This scene is too human, so there should be a "become a deviant" choice here, but episode isn't even in the middle of the story.
I actually consider it a crime that Connor can't choose to deviate because of Hank. He literally becomes human because of three things: being forced to kill (unjustified in most cases), violence against androids, and his relationship with Hank. Sure they have ton of moments where they influence each other to change their beliefs, but I'm sorry that in the original story the relationship radically affects only Hank.
Literally look at the plot development: all of Hank's emotional reactions when Connor is in danger... He really calling him son in the tower and caring for him exactly as a human being, or when he yells at Connor on the roof because he's terribly scared for him... Moreover, the new version of Connor brought Hank into the tower to manipulate the deviant. In bad endings, their relationship is still central to the storyline. Hank will either kill himself or go to stop Connor (read fight for his humanity) because he's really become something important to him over the course of their partnership. I'm not even talking about how emotional the post-credits scene is... just them on an empty cold street, the looks and the smiles and the way they fall into each other's arms... it's too much for me, it's the most sincere and warm moment of the whole game. Anyway the changes they brought to each other's lives deserved that choice "become a deviant".
Please post more hidden or cut dialogue these are so good

I think that Connor is a living machine from the beginning, but he's not a deviant until you break the walls while talking to Markus. Considering all the informations in game, probably being a living machine and being a deviant are two different things. Deviants look more like machines with some bugs because they don't do anything compromising until they brake their rules. Connor can do whatever he wants from the beginning, with no need to break the walls. So this fan made game is very accurate!
Yeah, there’s no way that Connor isn’t a deviant after releasing Kara and Alice from police custody. Also, it’s both amusing and heartwarming that he literally broke into the evidence locker just to give Alice back her toy.

@@slowblinkz yep same. You can see it casually if you turn around on the stairs during Last Chance, but you have no real motivation to do so, so hardly anyone sees it. Think it fits this situation with some urgency much better anyway

At first when he left I was like wtf you just gonna leave them there. then i realised he just went to get her toy.
Honestly wish this made it in. I feel Kara should've had more involvement and impact on the overall story. It would've made her story more replayable, since imo she doesn't have much variety in her story as compared to Connor and Markus. It also feels like most of her story is disconnected from the other characters (especially since even if you don't have her become deviant you can still get the major endings).

1. Yep as Cobalt pointed out, there is some early scripted dialog (it was never voice acted) saying the following:

X0405K_HIGHWAY_START_PC_X04KKARA_SURRENDER = "It's too dangerous, Alice. We can't go any further… I'm sorry…"
Plus a cross chapter variable tracking this event. Then there is a cross chapter variable with a designation placing it into the deleted Connor chapter saying ConnorReleasedKara. Plus a bunch of other variables of things you could do around the police station that they planned.
2. I have no idea what QD planned to allow this escape, so I came up with my own scripted version. In my script Connor released the other prisoner here that got placed in the cell during Waiting for Hank to cause a distraction on the side of the police station where Hank is sleeping, which keeps the entrance side of it mostly unanttended. Gavin is off in the evidence locker room and would miss all of it. As shown in the intro, the station is mostly emptied in the middle of the night, allowing their escape during the mess. But this is all my personal fan fiction since we don't know the specifics
3. I have no idea, but the script mentions the ability for Connor to carry Alice's toy around during gameplay in this chapter, so I came up with this premise purely because it's adorable :D

I can understand why they delete this, i dosen't make sense that connor wanted to let Alice and Kara go free, he's no deviant at the moment, he has orders, he can´t think "No, this is wrong" because he's a machine and need a process of trauma in order to activate the deviant treatmet, is a nice scene where you can show a good side of Connor, but is not well made, also if this happens when you see the pacific march of Markus i dosen't make sense, and Kara and Alice can't meet Luther or go to find Rose since they have no car and no lead and the revolution is close to start, is a nice scene but i dosen't fit well sadly :"3

Edit: I think I just realized why this scene wasn't added. If Kara and Alice were arrested during the chase scene, then they would have most likely not gone to Zlatko's place, never met Luther who would lead them to Rose and Adam and probably never go to Canada. That's just how I see it unless someone else has any ideas.
well, if they doesnt go to zlatko's house and cant be free, so the game just follow to "concentration camp" level or something, while other chapters with connor and markus happens
I feel like i was robbed of an intertwined storyline with connor and kara. I was really excited for the game before it came out and i kept watching the trailers and one of the earlier trailers had the scene where they stare at each other through the fence it was all tense and singled out so i was like "oh??? Android romance???" But then they never interact.
It’s a shame that this chapter was cut from the game and I wonder why Quantic Dream did that. It almost reminds me of that one chapter from Heavy Rain where Jayden tried to free Ethan.

I like where when you spend time doing evil things to the corpses for information, the other investigator shows up to kick you off the case.
But if all you do is grab Alice's plushie, he's on his way down and just gruffs at you. A little peek into the timing of him heading to the evidence room, and an insight that he didn't intend to find you going through evidence.
