    Hi Kevin. THANK YOU for this excellent video. While I learned the "ropes" the hard way.... i found watching this very informative and useful. Video quality and fade/in out of camera angles and shots professionally done... MY SINCERE COMPLIMENTS !
    It makes watching your videos a real pleasure.
    I love whisper... have hit USA polar base in McMurdo (antartica) on 200 milliwatts with a 130 ft bit of endfed wire just TEN feet above ground !!! Just could not believe it. Hawaiii.. Japan... VK Land... all on 200 milliwatts... incredible.
    Thanks again Kevin... your effort in putting this together is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

    Yes sir, you have done it again. Good info. I did not know about the vk7jj site. will give it a try. I have been transmitting a beacon on multiple bands using the Zachtek desktop transmitter. The antenna is a weathered 240 loop that needs work soon. Also, have been comparing a EFHW antenna with a WSPRlite on 20 to compare the two antennas. Big wire loop hands down. I also have the Zachtek WSPR receiver for 20 meters for receive. What a great time to be a ham. 73. Thank you for the videos. wb0wqs .

    Kevin I tried out a simple solution. when you want to send a designator for a vertical go to Setup and in your call place /V or /EFLW /Beam etc.Checking out transmissions and results now.

      I'm not going to make it. I still haven't recovered from the unexpected expenses of January. Can't afford the gas for the trip there and back to where I'm going to park near Kingman.
      Living on $11k / yr approx. is kind of tough.

    Hi Kevin,
    When I installed the terminated inverted u antenna, I ran wspr tests for a entire day on 160 80 40 20 at 5W. That was the lowest output from my FT450 and was surprised that I was heard by VK3YE Peter Parker on 160. 73 WB3BJU

      If that happens often enough, you can look at the time of the spot and have a good idea of what time of the day is best to try for DX to that location.
      WSPR is handy in many ways.

      @@loughkb Looking at your Callsigns listings on Wspr site under the text list it's really easy to work out 10Minute reports because the time is listed which I am guessing is pretty accurate. So you could use that to see antenna swap differences..Great video and your Looking very Healthy with the sun tanned face..I think life on the road agrees with you Kev.

      Yo Kevin!:
      Another GREAT video! I am slightly opposed to wspr as it's one way, is it a qso? I want to. Communicate! : ) although I easily see it's propagation facilities! Great video just the same. I wish there was a wap method for real low power.. : ).

    I'm sort of curious about something because wsprnet.org showed one of the reporting spots for my signal was in Australia. However, when I checked another website for the same time period, it did not show that spot from Australia. Do you know why that might be?

    If you’re an iPhone or iPad user there’s an app called WSPR Watch ... i assume its available for android too. Very handy in that you can do similar functions to the VK5JJ site but it also generates the tones so cane send using your phone ... incase you don’t have a computer with with you /p

    Hi Kevin ~ can the received signal strength results be used to improve your Antenna configuration ~ if so how?

    • @loughkb
      @loughkb  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably not. Propagation is a huge factor that often changes minute to minute. That would skew your data.

    Hi Kevin
    Is there anyway you can show how encode data into your wspr signal that indentifies what antennas you are using? It would make antenna comparison much simpler. Like maybe put my call as W3BUW/EFLW or W3BUW/V for vertical. I'll have to try that.

    • @loughkb
      @loughkb  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The data format is not flexible and I think there's a limit to the number of characters for the call sign. I can't think of an easy way to do it. And you'd really need wide spread adoption for it to be useful anyway.
      But I see the potential utility in the idea.

      @@loughkb Hi Kevin, I did change my callsign in the software (WSJTX) by putting a /V or /E /B for whatever type of antenna I'm running and it will show up that way in the WSPRNet reporter web site!

    All the data needs to be normalized by the number of stations participating.
