    The GPS issue was not an issue. My apologies. I had a lock at this point. I was just impatient. Sorry, all. Furthermore, it may be because I had manual location selected that it was greyed out. Honest user mistake there, not a reflection of zaktek in my opinion.. Thanks kc1awv

    Love the Mmes. I have run whisper on my 7300 with the power turned down to .5 watts. It gave me a great idea on how my antenna performed. 73

      I love the idea of that use. Comparing antennas. I've wondered about one of my ten meter antennas and if I need a different solution. The joy of essentially seeing things as they were in real time really helps with that.

      Plus you can upload received spots in wsjtx with your transceiver (the 7300).

    That’s so cool. Whisper is something I need to try out. Thanks for sharing this.

    Thanks I use my "big" rig Ft1200 for wspr beacon all the time I use 5 watts to 25. Amazing the places I make it to.
    Wind storm messed all my wire dipole up but even on a mangled wire dipole for 20 meters I do well with low SWR.
    This week I am using a 10/11 meter vertical Italian made Spiro
    antenna and able to use on 40 thru 10 meter with good results and low swrs on the FT 1200 as well with 5 watts. On 20 meters tonight . " kg 5 fnu " if you want to look.
    Thanks for your videos.
    since watching your video I think I am going to get a smaller and dedicated unit for myself now.

      You should be able to get to Jupiter on WSPR with 5 to 25 watts. You're really just causing interference to other WSPR users. Anyone can reach Australia on 200 mW even on simple aerials - if they can spell "Austra(i)lia"...

    Thanks for the interesting video! I have one of these desktop units also. Running hardware version 2.4 and firmware 2.04. It didn't come with factory calibration values saved. After searching the Zachtek forums, I found the factory calibration software and doc files and will be doing a calibration to it soon, ( I wish it would be able to do it on its own from GPS but.. guess not. The info says that the TCXO is usually close enough with out the factory calibration, but OCD aside, I don't like it telling me it needs calibration each time I use the computer on it. I am going to dig out a freq counter and try that method first.. Otherwise I have a programmable GPS referenced osc that I could set up and maybe zero beat in one of my HF rigs. I would like to get this sorted out before OzarkCON, as I would like to run WSPR on a couple of bands while going to and returning from the convention.. I hope it will work mobile with a couple of mini-hamsticks on a mag mount on the car. 73 KA0NCR

      @HAM RADIO DUDE have an older video showing it off. I'm sure they have new stuff now. But it and the kenwood radio that's plugged into it have been going strong for several years

      Totally coming in handy for some tests. And really just fun to be heard all over the world with 200mW

    Hello, I am a new ham operator and got the 80 to 10 which works great on My Go2 antenna. I live in a HOA. It reaches europe, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii and the entire USA. When it is directly connected to the My Go 2 antenna with the gps on the House window. I have not yet received my ordered ICom 7300. So I do not have a transceiver as of yet. I was told that this is stand alone and would not need to have my antenna hooked up to this once its programmed and operating by a fellow ham operator. So, if i physically remove My go 2 antenna from the transmitter output port , the programming site shows its still operating but the WSPR Rocks site will no longer show new contacts like its not operating. Will the WSPR Transmitter model 80 T to 10 operate without the actual antenna connected to the WSPR transmitter or do I need to install a Y fitting or manual switch on my actual antenna so that I can use my Icom 7300 on my go 2 antenna or switch the My go 2 antenna to the WSPS so its one or the other? Also will the GPS antenna always have to stay connected to the WSPR or will the actual position on the WSPR allow me to remove the GPS antenna? Not as concerned about the GPS as I am how do I use my one antenna for both the WSPR transmitter and the ICOM 7300 at the same time?

    I ordered one like that today.
    Using WSPR ROCKS how did you get your call sign added to the TX CALL button menu.
    I can not find a way to get it there for a search.
    Perhaps they changed something since a year ago.

      You're right, the new update does not make it easy and upon first glances, I cannot see how it would be done (Without running a SQL command). If you do go to the tab "SQL" there are demos in there, one demo is the user stats. .This may be helpful to you /* last 12 months stats for a given user */
      with ( rx_sign = 'W9FFF' as wspr_user )
      select
      band,
      max(time) as last_seen,
      count() as spots,
      count(distinct tx_sign) as uniq,
      max(distance) as max_k,
      round(avg(distance)) as avg_k,
      max(power) as max_dBm,
      min(power) as min_dBm,
      max(snr) as max_snr,
      min(snr) as min_snr,
      round(avg(snr)) as avg_snr
      from wspr.rx where
      time > subtractMonths(now(), 12)
      and wspr_user
      group by band
      having spots > 1
      order by band asc
      ___
      or if possible, just go to pskreporter.info/ and search a callsign with the mode set to WSPR..
      Cheers.

    Question: are you planning on testing and reviewing in the future the Alinco DJ-G7 and/or the 3rd Gen DJ-MD5XLT?

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Hector, I do not have plans. Radios become expensive to review, unfortunately. Maybe some day I'll get my hands on one, but currently nothing is planned. Thanks!

    I have a few of them, look for SNR 0 and above, that would be equal to 59 on your IC-705 at 10 watts SSB. -15 to -10 you would need 100 watts. That -30 to Australia you would need legal limit and then not for sure.

    What happens when you transmit on 10m without that LP filter? Does it use no filter? So it's a square wave? Does that reduce your signal clarity?

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd probably refer you to their website/forums as there is better information I could provide. I would assume you're correct

    • @Inkling777
      @Inkling777 ปีที่แล้ว

      Without that LP filter, you'd probably be transmitting on two, three and perhaps four times your operation frequencies.

      At 200MW output power I am surprised they even worry about harmonics being a problem.
      Suppressing harmonic frequency's would be about the only reason there would be band-pass filters on a transmitter.

    Disagree. There are toys in HAM radio. It's primarily a hobby for leisure and meant to be fun. There are of course serious aspects to it relating to safety and being a good neighbour on the bands but if you're not having fun you're doing it wrong.73 M7JZW.
