This one evening, the second Linda showed up early at the house and sat down at the piano while she waited for "mom" Linda to finish getting ready. What came out of her mouth and the piano had my GF speechless. Linda motioned Margaret over to sit by her on the piano bench and continued with several "oldies" for warm-up. Just having a little fun. Margaret asked her if she ever thought about recording. The answer, "Sure, maybe a little." Later that night when 'mom' Linda returned, she blurted, "you don't know who that was, do you?." Back around 1974 i was a cop. I had literally worshipped Linda Ronstadt since 1969. Then i got to work backstage security at one of her concerts. Most acts never spoke to us cops who worked security. Linda was different. She actually said hi, smiled, and said thanks. Very classy and sweet.
@@BC-ui9yt I've heard her talk 'music', and she seems to be one of those who absorbs everything they hear from around them. her childhood was big on music, but don't think she went to any notable school of music, she just actively absorbed music and theory like a sponge. Quick mind, self taught. Here's a classical musician's review of her singing: th-cam.com/video/4Tmluvy-5OM/w-d-xo.html What she DOESn't say is that I'll bet this arrangement is heavily influenced by Linda herself. The way the arrangement is very very clever, but stays off her notes. Listen to the sensitivity she brings to the lyrics, the many ways she can 'ornament' a word, syllable or even a solitary vowel. She can take a single vowel and morph it into an ever changing sound that captivates your ear. That's her. a skill seldom self taught. One gift that Linda gives to us is not 'studied', it is the natural harmonics in her voice. All voices have harmonics or we'd all sound like tuning forks. Her harmonics are clear as a bell which aids in her delivery. Also, she manages the dynamics of her voice like the author of a play - build to a crescendo, let us down, and build again to a higher crescendo, and resolve at the end better than 99% of all other singers. Could go on, but I'm sure you see or even already saw what I heard.
Linda was a phenomenal performer. She didn’t twerk, pole dance appear half naked and had no scandals. She was a great singer with opinions for interviews not the stage.
You might be interested to know at one time the old Eagles toured with her before they were officially a band. They wrote the song “Witchy Woman” about her. “Raven hair, and ruby lips, sparks fly from her fingertips…”. They had a birdseye view, so to speak She was one of many great talents from my generation. I Wish her well, wherever she is.
She is still in Arizona and her Parkinson’s has advanced. She needed a cane the last time she was seen in public, when she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Honor by Obama in 2013. I imagine she is a lot worse by now. I had every Ronstadt album after she went solo from her group The Stone Ponies.” Still have mad love for sweet Linda!
"She's been sleeping in the Devil's bed And there's some rumors going 'round, someone's underground She can rock you in the nighttime 'til your skin turns red" I don't believe that's about Rhondstat.
I can't believe you've never heard of Linda! Do yourself a huge favor and listen to all of her top 10 hits. You'll love her - She has some of biggest variety of music - it's amazing - Even her music in Espanol! Amazing! Honestly!
Her Kennedy Center Honors induction in 2020 is a great watch to get to get a sample of all the music she has done. Before recording with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Mr Riddle asked his daughter who Linda Ronstadt was as his music was 40s-50s. His daughter encouraged him to meet her, three albums were the result.
I'm not a music aficionado like this guy seems to be, but I know the singers from my father's youth. Duran must know the singers his dad listened to. I first saw Linda onstage at a college in Virginia. She was opening for someone else, I think. She had a microphone, wore a cotton peasant blouse and blue jeans. She was so plain and little, but she opened her mouth and smacked us all in our heads.
Linda had a big hand in creating The Eagles, as she hand picked the original four members, Don Henley, Glen Frey, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner, to play back up for her.
@@christineking5017 Not at the same time, but yeah Jackson was there both on tour and also hanging out with Frey, Henley and JD Souther at Linda's house in Malibu.
She is no doubt one of the very best female vocalists ever...in any genre. And Linda could sing anything. She was powerful, delicate, fun, intimate, feisty....and couldn't be simply boxed in to one kind of music. When she did covers, it was like she uncovered them for the listener to hear in a new and beautiful way -- much like Angelina Jordan today. You really should explore more Linda. She is my absolute favorite from the 70s....and every guy wanted her. As Willie Nelson said about her, there are 2 kinds of men in the world " those who have a crush on Linda Ronstadt and those who have never heard of her".
I'm 59 and grew up with Linda's music in my life - Recently I needed to hear some Linda, and boy she is so good compared to all this enhanced stuff we hear today. Nuance, phrasing, pitch, control, all the things you had to do back in the 70's and 80's to be good.
I was a freshman in high school when this came out. Was experiencing my first big unrequited crush on a boy in my class. I felt this song in the bottom of my heart. I felt like someone understood. 53 years later, it is still on my iPod playlist. Beyond special. Thank you for listening.❣
"La charreada" will blow you away. Willie Nelson is credited as saying, "There are two kinds of men in the world, those who have a crush on Linda Ronstadt and those who have never heard of her."
She could sing anything, from Mariachi to country to rock to blues to opera. Fabulous voice, great breath control, and a great heart. Listen to her duet with Aaron Neville, “I Don’t Know Much (but I know I love you)”.
OmG!!! I remember listening to her misic! My older sisters were great fans of her music. This music has a powerful way of transcending time! ❤ Indeed, she has a powerful voice.❤
I'm here August 2024 and don't know why this video came up. I was a child in the 70s, youngest of 10 children. I grew up on 60s and 70s music because of my older siblings. Linda Ronstadt was one of my favorites. My Aunt passed away from Parkinsons disease and her granddaughter sang this at her funeral. 😢 I'm glad younger people have found this beautiful song and can enjoy it. 🫂💙
She was the crush of all men at that time . She is a actual artist she created scenery and color with her voice. Nowadays there are a lot of singers that are called artists but are really meh . She sculpted her instrument to the type of song she sung and even if you don’t know why you feel it.
Linda’s “Desperado” is also great. Sadly, Linda suffers from a disease similar to Parkinson’s disease and is a shadow of her former self. It’s so good to see her the way we would want to remember her.
I believe that deep down she still sings quietly to herself because she knows who she is, just maybe not who she was. Either way, she was truly a gift to the world.
First heard Linda as opening act for Neil Young. Sang in a basketball arena. Her voice so powerful it filled every nook and cranny with the most beautiful voice I have ever listened too!!
Love Has No Pride is one of hers that comes from her very soul. She started very young- first hit w/ The Stone Ponies-Different Drum. Eagles gave her Desperado when it didn’t really hit for them. This song reminds me of Bonnie Raitts song “ I Can’t Make You Love Me” It’s beautiful!!!
I also, so very much, adore Bonnie. Wish she'd done better, but shackled and stayed loyal, early on by an abusive husband (rqually talented), ( find Rita Coolidge video discussions about Bonnie and Delany, and later Leon Russll, who collaborated on one of the greatest songs ever, Superstar, made popular by the Carpenters, but Bonnie's is best, she sang ut at Leons funeral). But what a voice, OMG. Saw her with Delany as part of a Cream concert, where she fell off the stage, got back up, carried on (as i recall it).
Linda is the one and only singer, male or female, of ANY genre, who has ever been able to move me to tears just through the sheer feeling and emotive force in her voice!! A truly staggeringly beautiful voice, sadly missed.
Linda's voice has tremendous power and expression, it was an amazing instrument and she used it in so many, often seemingly dissimilar genres. She grew up in Tucson, Arizona and has a Hispanic heritage - she did at least one album entirely in Spanish - it is amazing to see and hear.
Possibly the greatest female vocalist for the past 50 years until her illness. She like Angelina has done covers throughout her career, all as good as or better than the originals. She has given her voice to groups and gained them fame. She has conquered EVERY GENRE THERE IS or ever will be. Opera, pop, rock, country, Latino and on and on. Please give her some credit as we welcome into fame her successor Angelina Jordan. How's this for a live performance> th-cam.com/video/Q-fvsnLocBM/w-d-xo.html
The flip side of this would be her "Different Drum". A little more light hearted but no less valid point of view. LR is one of my favorite singers, she is certainly worth getting to know.
She was a 1970's and to the present, ICON. Dude, go binge watch her videos. Lots of videos out there-lots of duets. My personal favorite of hers is Blue Bayou. She also did some great collabs with Dolly Parton and EmmyLou Harris-their harmonies will make you weep. These ladies were singing decades before auto tune was even invented. They deserve all the respect-
My sister got Linda Ronstadt’s “Canciones de Mi Padre” cassette back in the day. We played that round the clock it seems. We aren’t of Spanish or Mexican heritage; our family is Irish. And we love our Celtic music of course. But… I mean… Linda Ronstadt. You know?
She also sings in Spanish.. She had a huge-selling album in Mexico.. She was allowed to sing with a well-known Mariachi band. This is a great honor in Mexican music. Mariachi is extremely hard to sing to because of the crazy syncopated rhythm....Linda was also part of a group called ...The Trio.. with Dolly Parton, and Emmylou Harris.. Really great harmonies on every song on the album.. You will eventually get to Linda's ,,, Blue Bayou..One of her greatest..
Yes You almost had it right Canciones de mi Padre stands as the biggest selling non-English language album in AMERICAN record history. "And she wasn't allowed to Sing " She told the Record Company that she was going to record that very album !
She got the songs from a book her aunt Luisa Espinel compiled: "Canciones de mi padre: Spanish Folksongs from Southern Arizona". Her aunt was a singer, dancer and actress who had studied music in New York, Paris and Spain, and was in a film with Marlene Dietrich.
She is not a rockstar, she is a legend.

One of the best songs you could have reacted to. Linda was, and still is, an absolute American treasure. A living legend. The pride of Tucson AZ.
Righto. I'm. reminded whenever I go to the Ronstadt bus terminal ,here in Tucson, to transfer buses..
@@markdraine3571 And the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall.
@@stevenrinehart7538 Righto ,Steve . There was a home that she lived in here that was for sale .I don't think it was the family home..It would have been great if somebody rich would have bought it. They could have turned into a tourist spot like Graceland .
You are right - this song is a perfect showcase of her abilities! Love Linda.
Linda Ronstadt is an American treasure. Her voice is exquisite and is a perfect blend of power and sweetness. This video is a clip from the Glen Campbell show and was shortened to suit TV. The studio version is longer but she should be seen live whenever possible. I can’t say enough in her praise. Her catalogue spans forty years and has something for everyone. She was the whole package; beautiful, talented and a wonderful human being. Please explore her music. You will not be disappointed. That clip from the show is the studio version🌺✌️
On Hee Haw as well...
A national treasure for sure. No one can match Linda’s combination of power beauty and versatility.
the live version on a stage with her wearing denim is my fave. I can't find it though. ugh

I apologize for sending you that clip. I just watched it and it’s not even the real LR. It’s one of those tribute acts. Sorry😢
Linda was a VERY Versatile Singer! Search “When Will I Be Loved!” You’ll Like it!!! It’s Upbeat and she has a completely different vibe singing it!!! Thanks for your Channel. I subscribed with the top bell. You may have never heard of these Artists before…and that’s OK! I’m 71 years old and these are part of Wonderful Memories for us…and me Personally!!! ❤
Linda is one of the greatest most versatile vocalists of our time. Her power, tone, control, range is INSANE!!
Back around 1974 i was a cop. I had literally worshipped Linda Ronstadt since 1969. Then i got to work backstage security at one of her concerts. Most acts never spoke to us cops who worked security. Linda was different.
She actually said hi, smiled, and said thanks. Very classy and sweet.
Linda wasn't 'just' a singer, she was VERY accomplished/knowledgeable in music theory. Took her singing Very seriously. What a voice!
This isn’t going to be popular but if she took her singing so seriously why did she do so much coke?
How much training did she have? I've never seen much mention of it, but it's hard to believe someone could be this incredibly blessed by nature.
@@BC-ui9yt I've heard her talk 'music', and she seems to be one of those who absorbs everything they hear from around them. her childhood was big on music, but don't think she went to any notable school of music, she just actively absorbed music and theory like a sponge. Quick mind, self taught.
Here's a classical musician's review of her singing: th-cam.com/video/4Tmluvy-5OM/w-d-xo.html
What she DOESn't say is that I'll bet this arrangement is heavily influenced by Linda herself.
@@williamgullett5911 She didn't
@@keithsw2566 she openly talks about it. She talks about the nose cauterizations. It’s out there for you to read.
Linda was a phenomenal performer. She didn’t twerk, pole dance appear half naked and had no scandals. She was a great singer with opinions for interviews not the stage.
I totally agree with you, a lot of present women performers up on stage almost naked.
Is. Although she is no longer singing, she is still with us. 🙏
@@jcdbrown She is 77 years old with a form of Parkingson disease.
Ummm, I beg to differ….she had a scandalous relationship with the governor of California, Jerry Brown(?)

They discovered it is not Parkinson’s
But something else that is not as common
Possibly the greatest female vocalist of all time. “Blue Bayou” and “You’re no good” should get on your radar
Close probably top 3 . Karen Carpenter is a level above.
@@chuckwerry7437Carpenter the unquestionable number one-but Linda def top 3. Maybe 2.
You might be interested to know at one time the old Eagles toured with her before they were officially a band. They wrote the song “Witchy Woman” about her.
“Raven hair, and ruby lips, sparks fly from her fingertips…”.
They had a birdseye view, so to speak
She was one of many great talents from my generation.
"She's been sleeping in the Devil's bed
And there's some rumors going 'round, someone's underground
She can rock you in the nighttime 'til your skin turns red" I don't believe that's about Rhondstat.
I can't believe you've never heard of Linda! Do yourself a huge favor and listen to all of her top 10 hits. You'll love her - She has some of biggest variety of music - it's amazing - Even her music in Espanol! Amazing! Honestly!
So much fun to watch yet another man fall in love with Linda Ronstadt. Join the club dude! Everybody loves Linda!
And another one bites the dust!
She was so very special ❤
The very best. Period. We’ve loved her for 55 years. The best!
You must check out “La Charreada” on Linda’s Spanish album! The ease with which she belts out those notes is epic! Love your reactions youngster 👵🏼☮️💜
I agree 100%
@@makkimontoya7330I agree 200%😊
Yes, I was hoping someone commented this.
Damn yes that Spanish album is awesome - Long Long Time is my favorite song where she really shows off her pipes.
“Los Laureles” from “Canciones de mi Padre”. ❤
The days of real talent. No auto tune, lip syncing. I'm so happy you recognize such honest real authentic talent. The60's,70,s& some 80,s.
No one has had so much success across so many genres. An absolute legend. To this day she has best selling non English album in US history.
Linda has been my best artist, I love you Linda from Nigeria ❤
I'm not a music aficionado like this guy seems to be, but I know the singers from my father's youth. Duran must know the singers his dad listened to. I first saw Linda onstage at a college in Virginia. She was opening for someone else, I think. She had a microphone, wore a cotton peasant blouse and blue jeans. She was so plain and little, but she opened her mouth and smacked us all in our heads.
Linda had a big hand in creating The Eagles, as she hand picked the original four members, Don Henley, Glen Frey, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner, to play back up for her.
Linda Maria Ronstadt was directly responsible for " The Eagles " to exist : They were her backing band at some time
Jackson Browne too, right?
I am 63 years old and had the BIGGEST crush on Linda in my teen years in the 1970s 😍
You're not in a league of your own on that note, the cover for "Hasten Down the Wind" was dang near pornographic...
And that boy you had a crush on, probably had a crush on Linda Ronstadt. Like the rest of us.
@@iamhudsdent2759 No, sadly his crush was on Emily in our math class and he took her to the dance. I cried.
"La charreada" will blow you away. Willie Nelson is credited as saying, "There are two kinds of men in the world, those who have a crush on Linda Ronstadt and those who have never heard of her."
A very young Ronstadt. The most versatile singer of our generation.
Im 71 and feel the same as katie..glad your getting to enjoy our music. This was her beginning, she gets better 🎉🎉
Those of us who in our teens, 20s 30s and grew up with this era of music were incredibly fortunate.
Yes we did.
She could sing anything, from Mariachi to country to rock to blues to opera. Fabulous voice, great breath control, and a great heart.
Listen to her duet with Aaron Neville, “I Don’t Know Much (but I know I love you)”.
Her duet with Aaron Neville is one of the best songs ever recorded. I will never tire of it.
Absolutely love her. The genre she can sing in has no bounds. She can literally sing anything ❤️❤️
So true... as an illustration check out her Mad Love album - Linda does New Wave!
Saw her back in the day. Constant chills up my spine. Her band at the time went on to be The Eagles.
A perfect song, sung with PERFECT PITCH.
OmG!!! I remember listening to her misic! My older sisters were great fans of her music. This music has a powerful way of transcending time! ❤ Indeed, she has a powerful voice.❤
Linda Ronstadt has to be my most favorite female artist of all time. I say of all time because her music covers so many genres.
She is amazing. You need to check her out when she was with the Stone Ponies
One of the best singers of all time.
"Blue Bayou" I'm 70 years old and in love with this women and song.
The music of the 60's, 70's and early 80's was phenomenal and without equal since then. We were blessed.
She was the crush of all men at that time . She is a actual artist she created scenery and color with her voice. Nowadays there are a lot of singers that are called artists but are really meh . She sculpted her instrument to the type of song she sung and even if you don’t know why you feel it.
100% correct
Listen to her classic, “Hasten Down the Wind.” Then her acapella version of Patsy Cline’s “Crazy.” She’ll knock your socks off!
Very good way to put it!
In an interview she said that she sings in her head. I hope and have faith that one day we will have cure for Parkinson, Alzheimer and dementia
First heard Linda as opening act for Neil Young. Sang in a basketball arena. Her voice so powerful it filled every nook and cranny with the most beautiful voice I have ever listened too!!
NOW YOU KNOW WHAT WE'VE BEEN SAYING FOR YEARS
Love Has No Pride is one of hers that comes from her very soul.
Saw her with Delany as part of a Cream concert, where she fell off the stage, got back up, carried on (as i recall it).
desperado hit hard for the eagles...
Love has no pride always brings me to tears😢 soul moving
Probably one of my favorite songs sung by Henley.
The ballads of the 70s ẁere not in need of over singing or lots of bells and whistles, much more pure!
Another good Linda Ronstadt song you should react to is "You're No Good". Her voice is incredibly powerful in this song.
Linda is the one and only singer, male or female, of ANY genre, who has ever been able to move me to tears just through the sheer feeling and emotive force in her voice!! A truly staggeringly beautiful voice, sadly missed.
Really nice to see how much the song touched your heart…
This is a VERY young Linda. She is still a beautiful woman .
Linda's so amazing that even your dog in the background woke up to take in the song!
Linda's voice has tremendous power and expression, it was an amazing instrument and she used it in so many, often seemingly dissimilar genres.
She grew up in Tucson, Arizona and has a Hispanic heritage - she did at least one album entirely in Spanish - it is amazing to see and hear.
You know her now!! She's a hero to female creators everywhere.
Linda is a gifted, amazing, chills inducing musician. She can sing anything. Tender, powerful, pure, evocative, gorgeous.

The greatest female vocalist of the last 60 years
Linda is today the number one selling Spanish language album of all time!!
Man, I cannot hear this song without it bringing tears to my eyes.
The flip side of this would be her "Different Drum". A little more light hearted but no less valid point of view. LR is one of my favorite singers, she is certainly worth getting to know.
Always loved Different Drum!

Linda is the personification of beauty, talent, grace and class!
What a woman!
What a voice!
Linda Ronstadt is THE BEST! 😍😍😍
They deserve all the respect-
Linda is a superstar! Best voice of her time and a beautiful woman.
You know?
Linda sang about things we've all experienced, with soul. Simply the best.
Linda is the best! I was a huge fan when I was in high school in the late 70''s and she was at the top! There is so much to her!
Songs of my father.
Her father was part of a mariachi band. This was the music of her childhood.
