Coming in for a landing at the airport, the pilot warns us of altitude sickness and offers quite a few tips in case you feel dizzy and lightheaded. That’s La Paz. 5000 m or 16,500 fr above sea level. Extreme city. And pretty wonderful.
Your documentary is from year 2004 or 2005, isn't it? Today, 2024 El Alto is very modern.
This documentary is from 2005. Today, 2024, El Alto is a vibrant modern city and much larger than La Paz. La Paz is also modern, with the longest cable car lines in the world 🌍
Estoy de acuerdo esto es de hace 15 años atras porque no están los teleféricos.
That's pretty cool thank you
El Alto sigue tan mal y sucio como siempre. No mientas. 🤡
@@PrinceMishkin-qd1cp Calla Hispanic de eme. I've seen with my eyes, it is not like a European city but it's improving fast.
i appreciate this update! gracias ❤
I’m from Houston and when I get bored I just scroll all over google maps and just watch a documentary on life some place else. Makes me feel really grateful having the basic needs people don’t half elsewhere .
Yo también hago lo mismo.
You are from Houston and you said you get bored 🙄🙄
I was born in LA Paz in 1974.. by parents that where missionaries.. my dad had his own tv show called solo pada ninos. And was the only American to be able to talk about God in the army bases... if any one remembers John maze.. give me a shout out.. he died in a moped accident 12 years ago.. was just curious if anyone remembered him. I went to the American co op school in LA paz.. this video brought back so many memories.. well done documentary...
I love white subtitles that blend in with almost every second of the documentary. this is the level of professionalism that the FD channels bring.
i find it rude they dont speak a language i know lol jk
Free Doc is one of the best channels on TH-cam! Somewhere on Earth is the best series on the internet hands down.. always look forward to a new doc from you guys
Descripción precisa. Me encantó recordar. Realicen la segunda versión hoy contamos con teleférico LA Paz desarrollo 🎉
this doc is depicting life in La Paz around 2001-2003
To me La Paz is a beautiful city, no crimes the people wonderful, the teleferico the streets, I love Bolivia❤❤❤❤❤
I love watching free documentaries about Bolivia. It gets me in touch with my culture, and seeing these cities bring back memories from when I was young and visited the country. I've only been able to go twice because it is so expensive, but through these documentaries I learn more about the country and places I definitely want to visit in the future!
Expensive? Bolivia is one most poor COUNTRIES in all America where y from Europe? Expensive can be plane flights
@@GuiLOST-lz8su Obviously I'm talking about the flight process, I have to take 3 seperate planes. I'm aware that it's a poor country, I've literally been there and I'm half Bolivian 💀
O sea no conoces tu así y otros te lo muestran😢😢😢😮😮😮😮😊😊😊😊
Going in three weeks on skimp budget. Where u think a good place to stay for a few days?
@@gregrussell7821 Hi, I'm not really sure about the budgeting because I went when I was young, so it was paid for by my parents. I think Santa Cruz is probably more expensive because it is a bigger and more modern city. I went to Arampampa, a city up in the mountains. It isn't expensive there and there is beautiful nature, but there is a lot of poverty there so as a child coming from a Western country it was a very big culture shock. There weren't any hotels available, so we had to sleep with 6 in one bedroom. I don't know if this place is recommended for tourists either since I was told it could get dangerous, but I definitely recommend visiting a city up in the mountains with a native or tour guide because the you have to see the scenery there. I also went to Cochabamba, it's a very big city and there's lots to do there, I think this is maybe in the middle range. Not as expensive as Santa Cruz, but more expensive than Arampampa or any city high up in the mountains for that matter. I suggest you maybe look up more information on this topic, but these are some suggestions. Bolivia is a very beautiful country and I'm happy you get to visit it, definitely try to learn some basic Spanish if you haven't already, I'm sure the Bolivians will love it!
I really enjoyed this documentary, thank you. Learned a lot about La Paz and the Bolivians who live there.
This is from 2005. Today La Paz and El Alto are modern cities
I have been there. One of the coolest trips I ever made. Don't be scared by altitude sickness. It is very different from person to person and I felt next to nothing. The coca tea helps a lot
From la paz to ruruabacce and back up again no altitude sickness
@@jonnyqwst did you like rurrenabaque? I'm thinking of going but not sure 😊
@@thank_you2933 it was cool. The animals of the pampas are compressed against the river. Friendly pink dolphins swim around you.
Totally hooked to the content ❤
El Alto tiene un circuito de locales cholets por Villa Adela, transporte de teleféricos norte ciudad de La Paz vistas únicas, tenemos a María Galindo un arte en vida, también hubo problemas de deslizamientos y riadas. La Paz es única .
Tough life for those residents. May you all be blessed and happy. ✌🏻🙏🏻💪🏻
This documentary is from 2005. Today you would not recognise la Paz and El Alto.
great documentary...thank you!!!
great documentaries! same level as DISCOVERY Channel. And, I can watch them what time i want. no schedule. keep goin with the good work!!
very well done and informative.. Much respect to the Bolivians and especailly the residents of El Alto
Beautiful just beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ thanks to the channel
Excellent documentary......
Compared to many South American cities, this place looks like a diamond in the rough.
in what sense?
😂😂yeah right
I estimate it is due to mining
Excellent documentary
Extremely interesting documentary: i would like to fly to Bolivia right away.
nice documentary
Seeing the views pile up as I watch.. 😮❤
Beautiful city.
La Paz is beautiful despite what anyone says to the contrary. Its history is long and runs deep intermingled with so many contributing factors that for better or for worse, and not always of their own making have made its people who they are.
I am glad I have watch this documentary, La Paz was on my list of places do go, not anymore.
I'm an addict to ur docs
excellent and moving doc very up to my taste of South America and the world (OrlandoFlorida).
the newer hills neighborhoods need to take a closer look at valparaiso, chile for a transportation solution. at least a partial solution. the landslides look worse to deal with in la paz though. the modern, colorful ayamara architecture style in el alto is awesome too.
Been here in 2022. Very beautiful city😊
I know very little about Bolivia so this piqued my interest. Makes me think l would like to visit
Good 👍😊
I clicked on this because I love learning about the rest of this big old rock we live on, especially extreme places like this, about as far removed from little old Adelaide as it gets 😃 but whoever made the decision to colour the subtitles the way they have should be sacked immediately! Honestly they fade into the picture waaaay to badly for this interested Aussie to focus and try and read along with. Sorry guys but I'm missing a good half of everything these fascinating locals are saying and I've had to click off watch something else not 10 minutes into it... Such a shame cos it looks like a wild place to life 😮😮
sorry about that. There’s always a discussion about which color is best for subtitles. Some
say yellow some say white. We’ll try to improve this -
thanks for your input
you're right.. it's so hard to read those subtitles😢
La Paz is not a Capital City, but it is beautiful.
I just wish that @FreeDocumentary put in the description when the documentary is being made or first aired. Just to get a reference of the time period that I'm watching.
Ghost Recon Wildlands map ❤️
I am here!
Too much advertisement, every five minutes two ads. TH-cam is too much
Just WHO thought it would be a good idea to build a large city at 12,000 feet elevation? Insane!
Omg remember my brother telling me about like the altitude sickness that he got while he was there and like he had constant headaches for like two months because he was on a mission there and yeah, he said it was the worst two months of his life headaches but he loved it and he says he misses the people
Nice people😊😊😊😊
I intend to go next year to la paz
2000m is considered high and some people might need to adjust on the oxygen, now 4000m la paz's a totally different animal
Ive been to bolivia on some specops mission taking down the Santablanca cartel. Its was one hell of a adventure.
La Paz isn’t Bolivia’s capital. It’s Sucre
If I wanted to read I’d get out my book….
First time i know this place from reality show IRT Deadliest road,
I traveled and backpacked across Bolivia and la Paz last year, one of the ugliest cities I have ever seen, beautiful people and the gap between the haves and the have nots is so big, it’s hurtful to watch!
Happy new year everyone my likes number one on the comments ❤❤❤
1:09 dramatic guy has trouble breathing. Also dramatic guy giving interview while also having trouble breathing. HI KAREN
So fascinating to watch. I'm a Filipino and i understand some spanish words yes the Philippines was colonized by the Spain for morethan 300 years. Thank you Free Documentary for covering this beautiful, dramatic and unique place.
me personally im frrom bolivia. but not la paz. altitude is not bad and is normal
7:22 Jim Lahey
La altitud no mata, ni hace dano.... Lo mas gracioso del documental jaja
Interesting but hard too watch while reading nonstop sub titles
Came here from watching the la Paz prison on the world's most dangerous prisons documentary
bast yt on this site
I was born in LaPaz but raised in Denver. I hate it here, I’d rather die in my home land.
Si esta muy elevada la cuidad pero no es para tanto.
Mg fav place to go
Absolutely zero information if you go by this documentary for Bolivia. La Paz now such a big city with so many modern high rises.
Drowning at the top of a mountain is the epitome of natural selection.
I want to visit La Paz and El Alto but im afraid of the altitude
I didnt have any altitude sickness there but my knee hurt for some reason. I believe due to the altitude.
Please I want to be forgiven for the man carrying the furniture on his back!!!!!!! Looks so so hard!!!!😢
And dangerus
What's the band at 49:18min please 🙏?
Atajo- que la DEA no me vea
THIS IS FROM 20 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!
How is the sewage system?
El Alto was founded as some kind of spiritual retreat? I thought it was just overspill in a railway yard as people flocked to the cities for work. You live and learn!
21:45 Boss playa :PPPP
16500 ft ? That's insane . U need oxygen . Pilots during a decompression needs to lower to 10000 ft and U guys are at 16.5k ft ? Geez
Olympus
this is like early 2000
2004 or 2005, I think it is.
Maybe as late as 2007
Isto è no planeta inteiro não é previlegio da bolivia sergio sao luis brasil
No wonder Bolivian teams have a insane home turf advantage in Copa Libertadores and Sudamericana every year.
😭😭😭
La Paz has the named of Albarracin too??
Footage looks old and outdated, yet narrator seems to try to put it all in the present tense by mentioning lithium batteries demand for Electric Vehicles and such. Doesn’t make much sense.
Footbll: So, IF Brazilians and Argentinians don't want to go and play in high La PAz, they could play in Santa Cruz de La Sierra, low city near the Brazilian borders, ok for them and much better for the Bolivians !!
If properly planned, Bolivia would have been more developed especially transport system. Subway is suitable.
Subway is a no go. Besides, the soil is too porous. There is an extensive system of cable cars that make transit a breeze.
I thought people in Bolivia never finished their houses because you don't have to pay property taxes while a building is under construction?
I think you are right. This documentary is from 2005. Today you would not recognise La Paz and El Alto, maybe you would, these cities are larger and more modern as the documentary depicts them.
Bolivia: world capital of lithium
the capital of Bolivia, is Sucre... art 6 in the constitution...
1 MILLION DE LAC AU QUÉBEC,,,,,,
I speak Spanish, why am I reading the subtitles?
You should indicate that this documentary is from 20 years ago and therefore much of what you indicate is no longer the case, and almost everything you show is no longer the case.
hell
English subtitles, please!
the subtitles are in English
My commentary IS in English 🙄🫣
I see English subtitles too 😊
Have they not heard of bikes or motorcycles yet I didn't see a single one
Highest stadium in the world
SO WHAT. I GOT WEED. 😮
La Paz is the seat of government and de facto capital of the Plurinational State of Bolivia. The capital is SUCRE.
Bolivia in Winter was a very rewarding, yet challenging experience.
Do find Alpaca knit gear in La Paz.
Do Explore the witches market.
DO NOT stay out after 9-10pm, you risk getting robbed or stabbed.
DO NOT film around the city, there is allot of drug activity and people DO NOT like cameras.
DO NOT seek out the rotating Cocaine bar in La Paz
There is VERY little tourists infrastructure, you will find it difficult if your not use to basic conditions.
With these in mind i strongly recommend this country for the hearty adventure traveler
just go to cochabamba or santa cruz way more betterr cities
Omg the guy with the cute dog looks crazy and his cute little doggy looked scared AF or is that just me?
Just you, he was growling at the camara man to protect his owner. He wouldn't protect his owner if he was afraid of him.
This documentary illustrates the unlimited adaptability of human beings , able to survive at high altitudes, high latitudes, in the desert, in the jungle, underground, on the sea,in space ( international space station, and soon the Moon ). That's the reason why I find the narrative of the " doom and gloom" crowd ( Greta Thunberg ) false and ridiculous.
The capital most beautiful from South America
😂
Bolivia no cambia sigue igual ..anarquia y p obrezs por sus gobernantes
Sucre is the capital of Bolivia and there is only one per country!!!!
It’s a poor country that need financial help for people to live a better life and health, especially for the next generation
Financial help is not the solution. Work courage and creativity are the solutions.
It used to be poor. This documentary is from 2005. Today people are richer.
