The reason Luffy didn’t stretch up the mountain was because rubber gets less elastic when it’s cold, so Luffy literally couldn’t stretch being so cold. He was also being considerate to his crew mates that he was carrying as he didn’t want to jostle them too much.
I know it's cliche but Luffy is definitely my favourite character. His undying love for his crew is just so awesome to watch.
When he is about to fall back in the last fight in Enies Lobby and he pushes himself forward coughing up blood, refusing to back down. Damm! 😫

I think for me, this is THE arc/couple of episodes solidified that luffy is really one of the best MCs out there... Tbh, i was actually shocked and mind blown of his undying friendship and loyalty for his friends... This is the moment i realized that he will do anything/everything to protect/save his friends/family/crew no matter what and no matter the circumstances and consequences would be...
@@the_kranthikajol He even says it during his fight with Blueno(gear 2), the only reason he wants to get stronger is because of the people he wants to protect, so that they won't have to be taken from him. Luffy is truly one of the greatest.
Yeah I definiteoy loved the arcs prior to this but I do think this is the arc that really made me fall in love with Luffy's character

Luffy is my favorite character in one piece, he is the perfect mix of Zoro coolness and sanji compassion. He will do anything for his crew, you guys are in for tons of more insane Luffy moments.

@Ambander-p3x bro what do you have against Sanji, why can't you just let it be, Sanji will feed anyone friend or foe, he will always sacrifice himself first before others, he lives strictly by his code if that's not compassion I don't know what else to say to you. Sanji haters always look for the bad every time. Literally in this episode he sacrificed himself to save the others from the avalanche.

1- his reasoning was perfectly logical in that moment, they had no idea what that place was, what was going on with those kids nor how they could safely bring them out.
2- the whole scene was clearly exaggerated to highlight Nami's soft spot for children, almost ooc for Sanji to be so against one of Nami's requests.
3- in the same arc he went back to save a bunch of male marines, let's not act as if he wouldn't care about saving kids

Don't worry, Zoro is my favorite character with Luffy in One Piece, and probably one of my favorite character overally. This guy is epic, savage, loyal and funny.
I feel like that Lapin flashback happens due to how the manga structures a bunch of things and how the anime's director decides to interpret them
In the manga, it might've been that Luffy just "saw" the panel of that baby lapin again (or maybe not even that, maybe he just said "you are..." and that was that)
A similar thing happens earlier in the arc, when whatever 2 characters are talking on the Merry and Sanji slips Down D Stairs as a background gag, since the foreground characters never react to it. In the anime, the two however happen in sequence.

Luffy climbing that mountain is when he became my goat, just that pure drive to do absolutely anything to save your friends no matter how much it hurts you, it's what solidifies him as a captain even when he doesn't seem like your typical pirate captain.
Edit: also winter is the best season bar NONE bro, but that just might be the aussie in me talking cause here our seasons are summer, slightly cooler summer (autumn, or fall as you's probably call it) and 2nd summer (spring) and then winter is the only season that isn't a fight against the sun to survive.
83 is like one of the few episodes of one piece that scares me like a horror genre does, thanks for reacting you guys!

I love drum island
Yeah, Luffy couldn't slingshot his way up. Not only he had injured Sanji and sick Nami with him, the Drum structures are 5 km/3.1 miles. Just for comparison, everest is like 8.8 km/5.5 miles, but the Drums are practically vertical, we don't see Luffy gumgum rocket that far
Luffy didn’t stretch because of what Sanji said to him. Sami told him to fight back or make big move meant and not to use his ability bc Nami could get hurt and make the situation worse. So Luffy decided to climb and not use his abilities to not harm Nami.
One piece have the tendancy to be hard serious and oda deliberately made it funny so that the seriousness will take people by surprise. He wants the readers to feel joy reading the story and yet talked abt very serious stuff and mysteries which you guys will also starts to appreciate later on when the story starts to get deep, i guess as Alabasta is gonna be the first huge arc and in the grand line which will start building up the story and then it will go deeper and deeper. One piece is one of the best written stories out there so y'all won't be disappointed. I love it even more than AOT and luffy is my all time fav character, he is goated honestly and Sanji is 2nd, i find him one of the best written characters in OP.
Genuinely think luffy is the best written character of all time. Can you really think of another character that you aren’t sick and tired of even after 1000+ chapters of being basically the same person with bare minimum character development

I think luffy even right now that we are 1100+ episodes in still has space for more improvement and development, like he’s not perfect, no one is, but that’s what makes him special, he doesn’t care!! He just wants adventure and grow stronger so that he can be free and be able to protect his friends against anyone, that’s what makes him special, which is why he’s genuinely my favorite character in all of fiction

They had this character popularity poll every few years in Japan that went global at one point. Always always Luffy was most popular at number 1. And Zoro was always 2nd place EXCEPT this one time. (I will not say who beat Zoro that one time). Zoro is WELL loved. A fan favorite.

I think that to a lot of people maybe Zoro is too obviously goated so they look for another character to put as their fave, lol (Luffy is mine, but Zoro is a very close second).
Yeah, the rabbit flashback is pure filler, that's the sort of stuff that's put in to stall for time. Also, I might add, a lot of the moments that shifts Sanji's simping from funny to annoying later on.

In the beginning I was really annoyed by luffy, because of my preconceived notions of what a cool character is, for instance Zoro (cool, calm, colllected, atleast not a complete moron). Oda rewired my brain. Now luffy is the my favourite MC and favourite fictional character of all time. That climb was the first hint that I’d like him so much. He’s so goofy most of the time, but that 1% when he’s serious, works so well for his character. And it’s that much more effective when he has that serious face on.
This is the arc for me that i really started to love luffy from liking ❤️

Let's just say that the damage characters suffer in OP change depending on what's necessary to the plot, better not think much about it lol Sanji did get a brutal hit to his back though, aside from getting hit by the avalanche. I also think the anime also exaggerated the underwater fight in Arlong Park a bit compared to the manga?
Give Brig a summer-summer island and Carter a summer-winter one.
Yeah, my love for Luffy grew so much in these episodes. His loyalty and care for his friends are what make him one of the best characters in the show. He's such an idiot, but he's an amazing MC and I honestly wasn't expecting to love him so much.
I think it's hard not to love all the Straw Hats, but that might not be true for y'all. I hope eventually you'll at least like all of them, including Usopp, but we'll see.
As for Carter's question about winter, I think I'm in the middle on it. I don't completely love it or hate it. Brig named off a lot of what I hate about it. 😂 But there's things I love as well, like sweater weather, hot chocolate, Christmas, and it's more socially acceptable to stay home where it's nice and warm. 😜

Zoro is amazing, he's at #3 for me currently and never drops below #6, but he's rarely #1 because a character just being badass/cool is not my favorite thing to see. My favorite trait is kindness and compassion along with making me laugh, then maybe badassery next meaning Luffy is the epitome of peak; favorite character in fiction. "THAT'S MY MC!!! 😭"

luffy is a very selfish character by default but he's also so selfless. i love him so much. this arc really made me like him so much more. he showed how much he cares for Nami again. He's usually really stupid and clueless but when he cares he cares. From him surrendering on the ship to skipping fights, he showed how much he's learning as a captain
