I use a combination of knots and dutchware on my gear. Watching your video gave me some great ideas for hanging my tarp and addressing some irritating issues I have with my lines. Thanks for posting.

Couldn't you just put a wasp on both sides and be done with all that other stuff for ridgeline? Why use dutch clip and fly and all that other stuff.. just tie your line to the end of the tarp and use two wasps. Ridgeline done with a V so your suspension can hang between. Or am I missing something?
Thanks Rob for a very informative video. You've got me re-thinking my entire tarp set-up. I love the idea of keeping the lines permanently tied to the stakes and the fleas on the tarp tie-outs. It also solves the problem of gathering up all the lines coming off my tarp when I slide it on the snake skins

I was in the same quandary and came to the same conclusion - buy one of everything. It has provided a nearly endless combination of configurations to experiment with. Quit fighting it - go get some! LOL

I do like Dutch’s gear, but it is only ‘bling’. I’d be worried of it getting ‘nicked’. Anyway, I do want to use his gear on my one man tent.(I’m a gearhound’) I’d like to see you demonstrate usage of Dutch’s gear on a tent. I have enjoyed your vid, very informative. Thank you.

all good options. think I like the flea with the line on the tent stake best. maybe not as easy to do with hook stakes but likely possible. as soon as you order something from dutch he comes out with a new design! thanks for sharing..
Fishwater I really like that option as well. I plan on using that on my Hammock Gear cube tarp this season. The tarp worm with the glow wire is my go to for my sil-tarps at this point. The video was outdated :20 after posting due to his creative genius. Happy New Year to you and the new bride!

Using stingerz to shock cord is expensive isn’t it? I immediately had the idea to fix a small length of shock chord to a small carabiner to each of my guy line points on my one man tent (big Agnes copper Spur HV UL 1 bikepacker ). That way, tripping over the guy lines in the dark won’t pull out a stake or tear the tent in some way. Seems a good idea, I’ll have to think it through.
Maybe you've covered this in another episode, but how do you handle tangles and knots?! I just bought Dutch's continuous ridge line with Tato connectors. Love it! But I have the same problem as with other lines, except it seems worse since the line is much finer than, say, paracord. Just wondering if you've come up with any other ideas. Cheers!
This is a little off subject. I am new to backpacking and am interested in hammock camping. I want to set up in the back yard to practice. I have one tree and was thinking about putting a 4x4 into the ground. Looks like that is what you have. So the questions are about that. With what you have will it support you and your hammock? How long is the pole and how deep in the ground. Do you have a suggestion for a distance from the tree? I am planning on getting an inexpensive 10 ft hammock and if I can sleep in it would some day upgrade to a Blackbird 11ft hammock. I like the looks of the Super Fly tarp. My son has been taking me out and he is a tent guy. Should be some interesting conversions.
Great video, really shows the different options, thank you. The door clips, dutch clips, and whoopie hooks all look very similar, why would you use one over the other? Why wouldn't you use whoopie hooks to close the doors? Wouldn't they work the same?
You can use it on cuban fiber tarp , but cuban fiber doesn't stretch and contract like sil-poly or sil nylon does, so to keep tension on those two, a section of shock cord helps a lot . But that being said, I would still use it on cuban tarp ( if I could afford one) just for windy days or tripping on guylines etc.

Any type of silnylon or polynylon tarp will stretch (expand) while it is hung. It is especially noticeable when raining. Using shock cord will allow you to start with and keep a taught pitch as it will take up the stretch that is a part of the tarp. On any sil or poly tarp I use some form of tensioning method 100% of the time. On my cuben fiber tarp I do not, as cuben fiber doesn't stretch at all. Simply pitch it taught and it stays. I hope this helps.
First let me say thank you for this video. It has helped me immensely and triggered an order from Dutch to replicate your tarp fleaz/zing-it attached to stake method for my newly purchased Superfly. Two questions....the shock cord I bought it too thick to go through the flea hole. I need to larkshead the flea to the shock cord with zing it. How did you tie that collar you showed on the flea for the cuben tarp? Second...how did you attach your zing-it to the stake? I'm new to all this and trying to get my tarp setup for an upcoming trip. As for the shock-cord, send an email to Dutch and ask him for 4 small pieces to be tied onto your fleaz, I am sure he will do that for you. As for the splicing onto the tent stake I used a locked brummel and buried the end. I think I ordered two of the Flyz. but I like how you had the rope spliced into the dodad and the little hook on the end of the line. Do they come that way or did you customize it? These are small and prob. lightweight and would make life easier on the trail after hiking all day. Thanks again for the video.

My SuperFly has 4 tarp worms (shock cord comes with it) and 6' pieces of Lawson Reflective cord (in orange). For the doors I have 20" pieces of 1/8" shock cord with mitten hooks on each. My ridge-line is continuous (30') with a wasp and a Dutch hook made out of yellow 1.75 zingit. I hope this helps.

I might be looking the wrong place, but the stakes on dutch's site dont have any options to have some line/reflective with them? How did you get that stake?
Until I figure more out, I am resisting the urge to do what you said and just buy 4 of everything so I'll have whatever I need. If I did that, Dutch will just come up with something new right afterward. This hammock thing is not for compulsive tinkerers without much disposable income. 🤑

BackpackingAdventures couldn't comment on your last long trail video nor could I find it on Google Plus so I'm commenting here that I loved your journey and it's inspired me to plan something similar on the PCT in my backyard. Also, my Scoutmaster suggested that everyone carry two bread bags to slide over dry socks and put into wet shoes or boots to keep your feet dry. Thought that would help you. Maybe you could move this comment to that video. Still not fixed.
These are garbage, the clip will fray and destroy the straps and they do not warranty or stand behind their products. Best to support another company that has lifetime warranties.

Is this 1/8" or 1/16" for shock cord. PS I love that you were kind of mourning when you talked about leaving a tent stake.

Yeah I hated that when I was a tent dweller. I tried to find on his site the stakes with zing it but I could not find them .

Do you make those tarp stingers with the zinget attached.... I haven't been able to master that... Or maybe make a deal with dutch... I would love to buy some from you if your willing to make some

What did you attach Tarp door clip to? The other door clip? I'm trying to figure out the best ways to close my doors. I just got the hammock gear winter palace tarp with doors.
I stretch it all the way over to the opposite guy line and clip in on that, just below where it attaches to the tarp.

I bought a 25' hank of it 3/32. I used much less, about 2/3rds the length of each door but it was cheaper to buy more.
so after using many different bling options, can you tell me what you would suggest for me to get for my 4 corners of my SF and the doors? what size shock cord and zip it and which hardware? Which snake skin would you suggest? THANKS
My SuperFly has 4 tarp worms (shock cord comes with it) and 6' pieces of Lawson Reflective cord (in orange). For the doors I have 20" pieces of 1/8" shock cord with mitten hooks on each. My ridge-line is continuous (30') with a wasp and a Dutch hook made out of yellow 1.75 zingit. I hope this helps.

Put the stinger at the edge of the tarp/rainfly and you won't have to get out in the rain and bend over in the mud to tighten the guy line.
Tape Worm or Tarp Fly with a loop for a CF tarp to flexibly attach extended guylines?
Id go with tarp fly on a cuben tarp. Easier to get a tighter pitch.

Very odd indeed since Android and TH-cam are both Google products. I do have a laptop at home if my kids aren't using it but otherwise everything I do is from my phone. Let's hope it is fixed soon.
TH-cam is working on it, it has to do with the last upgrade/release of the TH-cam app on Android.

BackpackingAdventures couldn't comment on your last long trail video nor could I find it on Google Plus so I'm commenting here that I loved your journey and it's inspired me to plan something similar on the PCT in my backyard. Also, my Scoutmaster suggested that everyone carry two bread bags to slide over dry socks and put into wet shoes or boots to keep your feet dry. Thought that would help you. Maybe you could move this comment to that video. Still not fixed.

Makes everything a breeze! I love my dutch bling bling. I think i only added like 5 grams to my tarp.
These are garbage, the clip will fray and destroy the straps and they do not warranty or stand behind their products. Best to support another company that has lifetime warranties.
