Petruchio seems utterly uninterested in marrying Kate and is just running through it all like rote .. yet, I was under the impression Petrucchio needs the money? It seems like we have two fantastic actors who were told to act a scene with complete disregard for the context, leading to brilliant individual work that just doesn't match. It's like we have the Magnum scene from Dirty Harry, but the director says "MAKE IT A ROMANCE!" Actor: You're the boss. Just don't expect anyone to like it.
At the end, when it gets much more serious all of a sudden.....I got a "I'm giving you one chance to take that back' vibe from him, and she's actually starting to sound scared....
Why couldn't she be prettier im sorry but the male is always attractive the women not so much. I probably only seen three kates who where as beautiful and they were spiteful

me too! saw the video of Tennant's Hamlet and adored it. being not in UK, I would their every production were captured live. Love RSC's modern touch.
