uterine cancer, hepatitis, chronic pneumonia, etc.. The night she sung You Raise Me Up
She just got out of Hospital and was advised Not to sing...So she did that....lol
It's really a miracle this one of the most skilled vocalist of all time could be
in such poor condition. And definitely she is much more than great technician
and has Perfect Control of Her Gift...and Her singing is so special.
So Being a Cancer survivor And still gets sick from Time to time. But is an Amazing Artist
who gave up a Kpop career to sing for the Lord and for the Love of Music instead of stardom.
She learned English as a Child from Disney Movies, which inspired her to Write two of her
Books...(both Published and there are more).
Also And Publicly thanks Mariah Carey for teaching her everything she Knows about Music ...

So glad as vocalist uv now heard SoHyang (simply perfection 👼🏻). She’s 42 yr old singer/songwriter w/ gospel roots, is independent (won’t sign in spite of many offers), music arranger, author & lectures at universities teaching others studying music. SoHyang has mastered SLS tech (🤍’d by Seth Riggs who she studied w/ a short time) w/ an equally impressive range, but it’s her ability to connect thru song/voice that she’s loved most for.

Glad you made your acquaintance with Sohyang, my favorite singer since I saw her on TH-cam more than 4 years ago. There is no better way to get the holiday vibe than to listen to Sohyang's "O Holy Night". This may be the rendition that comes closest to its original intent as she depicted the scene of the holy nativity and sang unreservedly to the praise of the divine. You could tell her amazing vocal control and her range is just breathtaking.

Most of us watch these So Hyang reaction videos just to see the absolutely astonished faces of the reactor when they hear So Hyang sing for the first time. Largely because we know how gob-smacked we were the first time we heard her sing. I'm a 62 year old guy and she reduced me to tears the first time ... and the next dozen times after, too! In our collective opinion So Hyang is simply the best singer in the world and without peer. Here's a short biography of her so you can find out just what an astonishing woman she really is!

We all wonder if So Hyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet or perhaps an angel come down from Heaven. We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. She does all the musical arrangements herself, teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks four languages. Korean, English, French and Vietnamese.
Let me catch my breath. OK.
She is a cancer survivor from uterine cancer at the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all travelled to Asia to work with her.
She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. Because of this she is prone to catching pneumonia but has sang perfectly while suffering from it in her live performance of “You Raise Me Up” before Shane Filan of Westlife on South Korean TV. th-cam.com/video/te_L9ofhUt8/w-d-xo.html She has asked those who love her singing to pray that God keep pneumonia away from her, she has suffered from it on so many occasions. Imagine how she must feel with this coronavirus floating around everywhere!
She just turned 42 on April 5, though in Korean culture she would be 43 because you are deemed to be one year old when you are born. She was about 35 when she sang this version of “Arirang Alone.” th-cam.com/video/zFyndK9VOCk/w-d-xo.html
After being sick with pneumonia much of the time from 2016 through to 2020, and considering giving up singing altogether, she decided to enter a televised singing contest called “King of the Masked Singers” in 2017 and won six consecutive times, which has catapulted her into international fame from the performances being posted on TH-cam. Whitney Houston’s former manager saw her on TH-cam and showed her to Oprah Winfrey, who brought her to David Foster’s attention. Foster then contacted So Hyang and went to Japan in order to work together. She could be an international Super Star if she wanted to be but has decided that it would ruin her spiritually, quoting Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”
In a South Korean television interview, So Hyang conceded that she struggled with her desire for fame for a number of years, going into a basement store room in her home numerous times and closing the door so she could complain vehemently to God that He was holding her back from becoming famous due to her health problems. Then she saw a Korean TV drama where the daughter of a very successful businessman was positive she would take over when her father was gone. But he did not leave her the ownership of the company, so she had a fit and lay kicking and screaming on the floor. So Hyang says she saw herself in that young woman and then understood that God was keeping her from developing bad character by withholding celebrity status from her. So as a consequence she does not pursue fame or fortune and actually has no social media presence whatsoever. What can one say about such a person? She is a literal Wonder Woman! And we need about a billion more just like her!

“Debuting in [the] US was my utmost goal for the past 20 years. But when I got a call from the US agency, I politely rejected, as I realized that what I wanted most was not becoming famous,” she said.
“I think singers are very susceptible to arrogance, especially when they hear the screaming from crowds on stage. It can make you feel like as if you’ve become God.”
“And I’m perfectly okay with sharing my music via TH-cam, which can reach tens of millions of people all over the world without making me feel stuck up. Maybe that’s why I was born in this era.”
So Hyang is just the most amazing singer, Christian and human being! She is beautiful both inside and out-and so humble!

Well, one more gush. In an interview with a Turkish music producer So Hyang revealed that she can hit Eb7 and D7 in practise. However, she never goes above the 6th octave in performances. Oh, I just remembered, she is also a published novelist and a very good stage actress, which she proved by playing Julie Andrews’ part in the South Korean production of “The Sound of Music.” Moreover, she sang the “Moana” part in the Korean version of the Disney film.
She can also play the piano and guitar. Is there anything this genius level woman can't do?
I really must also compliment the choir, orchestra and audio/video production people So Hyang uses. They are all top notch from what I can see and hear. The Korean people are easily as talented as anyone else!

And God has blessed her richly, though as humans we often don't appreciate that His blessings are more in the spiritual character form and not excessive money or fame. Character lasts forever and will transfer over to our spiritual bodies. (Our money or fame ceases to exist when we exit this life and is of no permanent value.) Thus we will be able to be happy from the inside out for the eternity of life God wants to give us. Sometimes it takes us a long time to finally understand that things don't make us happy. All we need is a certain amount of money, etc., in order to live in a manner that God deems sufficient and not spiritually harmful for us. He even gives us our heart's desire. ;-)
