What I would like to see is a video of the view through the rearview mirror as the driver in front, and also the view of the driver driving in the opposite direction to a car with this headlight technology.
Correct question, because driving in front of a BMW with that system , will make you make a full stop so you can recover your vision again after an encounter, the system is life dangerous for everybody else than the driver of the BMW, the system must be banned from production. Driving along the same lane as an BMW using the system as described in the video, is dangerous, because the long beam splitted along both sides of Your car sits directly in your both side mrrors, and the light amount is too dangerous, to continue driving, getting blinded by long lights in the mirrors and the amount of light around you will make you feel like the asshole behind you didnt turn down his lights, because the amount of light is unchanged. The biggest problem driving at night is way too strong lights, accidents occur every day because of that.
the video is more a dream than a reality. The switch fron high to low lights take a bit of delay and than the driver in the opposite direction is glared for a second or more. The camera car is not so accurate as you can see in the video, a road sign or the guardrail reflection switch the light from high to low, continuously.
What's this technology like in foggy conditions? Someone needs to add the auto ability when in the fog as they don't know the difference between the rain which results in more glare.
So i spend an extra 5k for this feature and it helps other road users not me? I still have to deal with the glare from their lights? Lol il save my money thanks Not that i can even afford it anyway lol
Johnathan Wilson The glare here we're talking about is from the vehicles in the opposite side not the ones in the back. Even if you had A BMW you just simply can't dim the lights coming from the front, can you?
Mike Bakhsheshi I agree with you that dumb broke bitch everybody knows theirs no cure for stupidity but at least with your headlights you won't be an pain to other drivers.
So none of you is old and wear glasses, none of you know anything about driving in the dark, and you have never driven in front of one of those BMWs have you? Greeting new technology without any experience or greeting it just because it looks smart is stupid, guess you both are in that category Mike and jookz.. The lights on the BMWs with that system is life dangerous, they blind everyone in front of the car, the ones in the same lane and sertainly the ones coming on from opposite side, making lights like that should be forbidden. If you think a little about lights in general, all lamps made after 1990 throws stickbeams everywhere and when raining they blind everyone comming opposite, the biggest problem when driving in the nighttime is strong beams comming your way, and when its raining the prizm from raindrops kill your view blinding everyone in the path, LED lights are 20 times stronger than a normal H4 lamps output, so when you guys just heil new technology you are the dumb folks.
Just to inform BMW that the driver from the oncoming traffic can be blinded from a far distance from those bright lights and they switch to low lights when the car is only near ~5 meters as it's seen on the video so this is not worth it !
great stuff but will have a problem with HIDs turning it off and on all the time lol. Also this system will be considered crap in malta as we have lots more traffic and therefore you are better off without the high beams
I love BMW but i see that this time they didn't do it right, it's unsafe to turn off the high beam light when I'm approaching to a car in front of me at high speed, the camera may see it before i do (I may be was distracted ), the front car may have defective rear light (we are not in perfect world) i would prefer to keep it on until 5 -10 seconds behind it then lower the beam angle / power sane as a human would do in normal situation, i like what Mercedes did for same thing
Remember when you actually paid attention to driving while driving. Also this is just another piece in the pile of electronic crap in cars that will inevitably break.
People sometimes wonder why pay so much for car.... Here's one reason for the additional cost. I like it. BMW!

Exactly so your comment was pointless. Just enjoy the technology and think of it as something learned.

Deutsche _ thats why they’ve implemented the fucking adaptive headlights genius
Wow!

Autos europeos son maquinas
The mercedes doesn't even need a camera in order to detect...
i think this is an excellent concept
then install one in your bedroom, because its useless on cars..
BMW Intelligent Headlight Technology VS AUDI Matrix LED Headlamp
+Mazwi Zwane Daimler had it first .
wow
great stuff but will have a problem with HIDs turning it off and on all the time lol.

This car uses LEDs for its lighting, no more HIDs.
nice♪
Song please?
Dark Lotus MK2
tnx :)
Awesome, can't wait for the system to malfunction and cost an arm and a leg to fix.
Nice a?
How much to fix tho?
قال مفخرة قال شوف الماني واش يسوي
Or you could just turn your lights off when you see another road user. What a waste of time.....
that's the point that you don't have to switch it all the time, lights do it automaticly...
+Tidgy this has the benefit of always highlighting the entire road rather than only when there aren't other cars.. which isn't often
Just longer time blinding helpless trafficants that certainly dont want others to blind them all the way, now also comming from the rear..
Tidgy people are too lazy to turn off their highbeams. So they invented a system to make the lazy people turn even lazier.
What about areal life video not a stupid computer cartoon to shows us that its not working.
+ewew erwe it does show real examples of it after the animations, you have to see the entire video or skip through it

But, we can see that this system is developed by Hella KGaA Hueck & Co.
So, no difference between BMW or Audi (VAG) Matrix lighting systems.
These guys haven't seen traffic in india. this light wont go farther than 2 mtrs...
Silly Germans. And how much will the headlight cost if its broken due to a minor mishap?
JK Low an arm and a leg.
Remember when you actually paid attention to driving while driving. Also this is just another piece in the pile of electronic crap in cars that will inevitably break.
I totally agree
music is cheesy as Fuck!!
Its all well and good until people stop cleaning their headlights
+Mike B if i had this car I wouldn't want it covered in dirt
LEXUS LS460 DID IT FIRST.
Its BMW surprise with this stupid music noisy
Mercedes multibeam LED is a better technology
Copy from Mercedes. Bmw copies everything from Benz no wonder!
Samet Tikiz BMW and Mercedes share research and development with Audi
Samet Tikiz ...its is Hella tehnology...not Mb or Audi..they bought these headlamps from them...MB and Audi not produce them
Yeh right! Too funny!! ;)
