    After seeing this lovely wrench I was motivated to go look for one on ebay. I was lucky and found a lot of 2 being sold, a 10" and a 6". I hope I got a good deal on them. I paid $30 for them.

    Just so everyone know, Armstrong adjustable wrenches are STILL made in the USA! So if you're looking to buy a new adjustable wrench, Armstrong still makes American made ones!

    Never seen the ratchet action style. And it's hard not to notice that wrench with the sexy curve ;)
    Edit: Glad to know you described it as sexy too lol

    Nice wrenches,We had the ratcheting head ones down here marketed by Toledo tools,but they didnt take off,Aussies are somewhat conservative and regarded them as a gimmick,same went for the wrench with the slide adjust handle..havent seen eitger in shops or toolboxes for years now..Toledo Tools were just a importer and gave now been swallowed up by Tridon International...The Billings wrench was nice,That curved handle reminds me of a one we had here,used by the railways only,that had a S shaped handle and a large head...Dont know if there is any real benefit with such a handle design though..

      I don't think there was any advantage because they never re-made them again! =D Thanks!!!!!!!

    I like that Billings curved wrench & wish I had one , I'll now be looking for one every time I go to a Flee Market . Metric ?....LOL...All my adjustable are both metric/standard that those in European Sears stores might call 'Spanner" wrenches ?

      AmericanCoinHunting Hi Dave, I'm sure that more then once some young unsuspecting apprentice was sent into a hardware store to pick up a 'metric-adjustable' wrench... 😃👍

    What an awesome wrench collection Scout. Love the Billings Curved Adjustable or any curved adjustable wrenches for that matter, are the double end adjustable wrenches hard to come by?

    • @ScoutCrafter
      @ScoutCrafter  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You want to laugh! The 8" curved Billings is super sweet but the 6" doesn't have the same feel! I bought one and I just couldn't get used to it! =) Go figure!

    I have a double ended from Germany I got a number of years ago 6&8 inch ends on it

    • @ScoutCrafter
      @ScoutCrafter  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dan, those double ended adjustable wrenches have really become collectable! I'm not sure why there has been a big surge in the prices they get or why they are so desirable but every time I see one for sale it's expensive and lots of other collectors are asking about it too! I have an American version and never understood the reason for having a head on both ends! Another popular tool is a pliers with an adjustable head on one of the grips. That makes a little more sense to me... Good stuff! Thanks for commenting!

      Boy I'll say, ScoutCrafter. I had a '69 Triumph Bonneville which used both English and Whitworth fasteners. Talk about a recipe for disaster.

    Perhaps you could use that scleroscope to find out which manufacturer made the toughest wrench.

      Hello Wayne! It's funny because after this video I picked up the Billings 8" model and it doesn't have the same characteristics! In fact the 8" feels wrong in the hand! Go figure!!! Thanks!!! 😃👍

    Does the jaw wobble?

    • @ScoutCrafter
      @ScoutCrafter  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Lukas, Most adjustable wrenches are designed with a small amount of "slop" in the jaw, this is intentional because of the ease of movement and ease of capturing the nut. The undesirable wobble is when the jaw moves side to side, that being a poor fit or excessive wear. This Billings has very minimal wear and works great. Be careful of inexpensive foreign adjustable wrenches that feel like the tolerances are off. Thanks for watching! 😃👍

    • @lukaswagner9473
      @lukaswagner9473 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ScoutCrafter I only ask because I have the same wrench listed on ebay right now. The one I have listed the jaw wobbles side to side. More on our end side then the other. The forging on the keyway for the jaw is uneven. Just curious if it was a common defect. I was asked this question on that auction.

      @ScoutCrafter  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      lukas wagner - Very interesting! It’s a great wrench and if I didn’t own a tight one I would still be happy with one that was a little wobbly! Best of luck!

    you mean any self-respecting "rounded" tool nut would have a collection like that lol. I collect adjustable wrenches myself, and thought I would never hear anyone else refer to a wrench as "sexy"

    Metric?
    Given that it's an "ADJUSTABLE" wrench... wouldn't they technically be both metric & SAE... or neither? 🤔
