    Just when I thought that TH-cam was going to suck today, one of the best content creators popped up a 40 minute video. This is officially the first video that I’m gonna watch this year.

    i used to see that thing rolling around monroe ny all the time growing up in the 90s/00s. it actually dug the footings for the back deck on my house back in 94. was owned by bilt-well fence co in monroe ny.

    1968 worked a summer job at a fence company in Phoenix AZ. They asked me to nibble the ends of steel pipe sections not being sure what they were for. As I watched a Guy Named John Smith (really) started assembling them into a square contraption and said it was a post hole digger for mounting on the back of a jeep. A few days later as the digger was being finished a rail car pulls up hauling a brand new CJ5. We did all the PTO assembly and jeep modes then mounted the digger to the back. when completed it was towed out to a large open area in the NE between Phoenix and Scottsdale. They had 5 miles of post holes to dig and did it in the afternoon. It was a great experience for this young guy.

    Chris, my grandfather hired (ha, ha) my older sibling, my cousin, and one of our neighbors to put up a dividing fence in the pasture next to our home. We used post hole diggers, shovels, a jig digger, and a wooden mallet to dig the holes for the fence posts. After we had made good progress, we ran into solidly packed clay and rock. Granddaddy contacted a man nearby who had a tractor with a drill rig similar to the one on your CJ. After drilling several holes, he broke the drill bit on his rig. That was the end of that! Happy New Year to you, Jen, Gus-man, and Turbo da cat!

    seems like you've got the right idea. sell the auger equipment and keep that jeep for the trails. you might have to go through that 4.2L but you could just do a quick, ultra cheap, 'rebuild' on it. just think of the fun camping trips you & Jen could take. plus, there are always huge jeep groups around that go on fun outings to different OHV parks and what not. 🤘🏼🤘🏼

    For the GoPro camera on the head, I’d actually recommend turning the auto stabilization down and the angle up because the head usually is waaay more steady than the hand. As for being on a car I’d recommend auto stabilization because it’s a solid mount that vibrates with the motor and suspension. But I really do like the view, it creates a whole other aspect to videos.

    Two things about the flat towing with the Dana 300, you need to every couple of hours stop and let the jeep idle, the upper transfer case bearing will burnout, Warn used to make rear locking hubs to fix this situation. Make sure your towing bar is tight from side to side, years ago I towed a jeep that had slop side to side, I saw my life pass before my eyes going down a hill.

  • @garyfrederick9107
    @garyfrederick9107 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Chris that jeep is awesome.. me personally living in ranching country were there is tons of fence to repair, put in, fix.. you could hire someone rent him and it out, and in less then a year triple your money some TLC on the jeep and wow what a machine.... a money making machine. Here we move roads so there is always state and government contracts,. and then the blizzards where snow is pushed so far back and posts and fence is ripped out... and when all snow is gone they need to be put back in....then private ranch contracts OMG you couldn't sit down all summer fall if you had that thing here. So if your looking to sell it??? concentrate on North south Dakota's, Wyoming, Montana, even Nebraska. If i am thinking right put that up on a auction where farmers ranchers get together and i bet you you would have a bidding war. Sad thing is so many ranchers here and farmers do not have You tube nor face book they have other priorities to think about to waste their time on social media platforms. sure some will but 90% will not. But that is an awesome machine.. again i would keep it!. and fencing contracts are so lucrative !!. Happy New Year Buddy! wishing you Jen, Gus the best !

    On a side note, putting a pressure relief valve on the auger down circuit and adjusting the pressure just slightly less than what is needed to lift the jeep would help keeping it out of, "self distrust mode"
    Keep the videos coming.

    Get rid of the post hole digger. Get a fiberglass top and doors. It's your perfect vehicle for tow home and medium duty off-road fun rig! Soooooo easy to work on and everything is available and that motor is solid as a rock. Well worth it to keep around

  • @CAROLDDISCOVER-2025
    @CAROLDDISCOVER-2025 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    $600 for the post hole digger apparatus is a good deal. If you kept it and could mount it on the back of your tow truck as a slide in unit. Then you'd have the best of both worlds. We have a bobcat backhoe attachment and we have a truck set up as a truckHO. It takes about 20 minutes to attach it unattached it. You can do a lot quicker but something of that weight and size best be careful with. Quick release on the hydraulic lines and a quick disconnect on the input shaft. Then we could use the truck for a truck . If you're going to use it on your Jeep you definitely would be a good idea to put outriggers at each of the four corners of the Jeep so it doesn't work it so hard. Of course I think you got the best idea if you're not using the post hole digger and you want to use the cheap has a trail Jeep sounds like a perfect plan. Especially after you go through the engine in my opinion. Hydraulic operations always seem to work a lower end of an engine. If you built it as a tow behind unit would be interesting how you counteract the stress with the lack of weight. It would definitely be something I would watch each episode. Thanks for making the episode is quite interesting and different. Bouncing around as you called it adds variety!

    Jeepin’, hell yeah!!😀 Decisions, decisions…. Good deal on the old Jeep for sure. I’d hate to see the newer Jeep and the auger split up, kind of a set, never seen that combo. But, gotta do what ya gotta do. Happy New Year to you n’ Jen n’ Gus n’ Turbo!!! Thanks for all the great videos, keep on keepin’ on!! Cheers 🍻
