For a travel tripod, this seems to be a great bit of gear. Will definitely be handy to have. Thanks for the review.

Ah it's a fierce handy little yoke. Still shocked something that compact is incredibly usable.

    That's an impressive travel tripod.
I own a Neewer tripod that is quite similar albeit without many of the Manfrotto features (1/10 the cost).
My new favorite is the Fotopro X-Aircross 3 Carbon.

The Neewer LT38 tripid coming out soon is another travel tripod I am looking forward to checking out.
I have heard good things about the Fotopro model also.
It would be great to do a group test 👍

I've been using the Gitzo GT1555T for number of years and it has served me well. I'm not a big fan of Gitzo's GH1382TQD ball head (no friction!), but it gets the job done for what I do. I often mount an RRS pano clamp on the quick release plate and then a PG-01 for multi-row panoramas. The Gitzo is very small when folded. It fits inside a Peak Design 30L back pack with room for my RRS pieces as well. It is, however, pricey. Were I purchasing today, I would probably get something else!

That's a seriously nice tripod, the bigger brother to the Before tripod. As you say it's certainly not cheap but then again you get what you pay for.
You don't see an awful lot of Gitzo tripods out in the wild in Ireland. The distributor changed and they kind of went scarce then.
Amazing range of products though. I spent a few hours playing with them one day.
Enjoy the tripod it's a gorgeous unit.

@@kieranhayesphotography - True and I really have no complaints!! But the market has shifted - I bought the Gitzo 9 years ago, well before the Peak Design travel tripod was introduced and before Leofoto & other Chinese brands were well established. You can get more for less now!m as the Manfrotto proves!!!

Have you had any issues taking this in your hand luggage on a plane? I just had to put my Gitzo GM4562 monopod into the hold/checked luggage because they were worried about me using the leg as a weapon!!!

Hi Tom, every time I travel I always get stopped by security, I must just look dodgy or something. Then they ask what's in the bag and I have to go through it all.
I always put my tripod inside my suitcase for that very reason. I just know they will stop me.
I haven't heard of someone having that issue with a monopod though. That seems a bit mad, but then again you can also see the reasoning behind it.
I have seen people go through with tripods regularly on planes but a lot of it depends on the company you are flying with I believe.
I hope the monopod came out ok on the other side?

@@tomskwarek6141 - My bag is inspected almost every time I fly, however, it’s never the tripod that’s questioned, it’s my pano clamp and rig that get the most questions, especially if the are near a pouch holds many cables!!!

Well I don't but err.. somebody does when I am using them for a video. Trying my best not to look stupid in a video but I always manage to do it anyway.
      That's pure natural talent 😂😂😂

Carbon tripods are stiffer in that they have less wobble?

    • @kieranhayesphotography
      @kieranhayesphotography  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yes, the good carbon fibre tripods are far more stable than the aluminium tripods as there is less flex in them fibre and they then flex or wobble less as a result.

This isn't close. The Ulanzi Treeroot is uh, better. Not even close better. Plus, no "wobble".....If you're spending this much on a travel tripod, might as well get something far better for just a few more bucks.
