@Beck Petersen ... Bama can't just lose a game and automatically stay in the playoff. That's not how this works. Yes they can earn their way back in over the next 3 games, but as of now, they HAVE to be out. Don't worry tho, if they win out, they're back in.
@Stephen Roberts Playoff rankings are based off something new each year it seems like. Every year the playoff committee conjures up some new voodoo to establish matchups that are most likely to garner the highest ratings and thus more revenue. Sit back and watch. Barring some bizarre WTF moment, LSU, OSU, Clemson and Alabama will be the top 4. Not to mention UGA may end up with a second loss to LSU in the SEC championship.
@Stephen Roberts I wouldn't dream of discounting Fromm and I certainly agree that defense wins championships and your observation of UGA's propensity to choke at the worst of moments. With all said and done I am confident the top 3 will consist of LSU, OSU and Clemson in some order and Bama will squeeze in at 4. A possibility of an LSU Alabama 2.0 like 2011 would be too much to pass up for the committee. Again, more fuel for the fire that is a playoff expansion.

@@djthakid91 Everyone in the SEC West that LSU has played, or will have by the end of the season. They OOC games were Duke who has done very well. Their East opponent were South Carolina, who beat Georgia, and Tennessee who has come alive as of late. Their schedule is not that bad, and they lost to the #1 team by less than one score. Not like losing to Kansas State when you were favored by 20.
Moss was pushed out of bounds by D.B and re entered the playing field and was an eligible receiver.

Great breakdown but forgets to mention the tide has never made the playoff without at least 3 ranked wins. They will have only beat a potential 4 loss auburn. That’s not good enough to make up for not being a champ. Granted they may pull some bs eye test but that soft schedule hurts them pretty damn bad. Can’t lose your only important game.

The out of bounds catch was payback for Patrick Peterson non-interception.
Exactly! Except that catch was legit. Ruling on the field was that he was forced out first. Sure it's questionable but if it was called on the field it's unreviewable. So replay was 100% correct.

Before this game, Alabama's opponent winning percentage was awful. Worse than Minnesota. The worst in the Power 5. Worse than most group of 5. I dont know what the opponent winning percentage is now that they played LSU, but either way their strength of schedule is AWFUL. They havent played anybody, and will end the season with only one quality win. Unless they blow everybody out the rest of the season, or unless a bunch of team lose, Alabama should not even be considered for the playoff.
@@absolute_yote9570 Maybe, but it depends on the season.. think back a couple of years when they played basically the same schedule but Ole Miss, Miss State, A&M, and Auburn were all ranked when we played them.. there is some bad scheduling to be sure, but it is also a lack of good teams in the SEC this season as well.. LSU played some highly ranked SEC teams that have sense dropped like rocks

One win per decade, that's something to brag about. Zero rings per decade. 09, 11, 12, 15, 17. Remember only one of our National titles occurred after going undefeated, we lost in every other season before winning the championship. A loss motivates a team more than any coaching and I seem to remember a similar turn of events happening in 2011 where a certain team beat us in a hard fought regular season game and then got the breaks beat off their asses in the national champ game, shut out. Just like that same team got shut out last year. Certainly never shut us out.

Fun fact about the Thaddeus Moss sideline catch. The ruling was that he was forced out by the defender (non reviewable) and came back in bounds to make the catch. Since you are allowed to come back in bounds after being forced out it was a legal catch. What was under review was if he made the catch not if he stepped out of bounds. They explained it on CBS while the review was happening. It was a great play by Moss. Just an FYI.
They didn't explain it during the review, they explained it in the second half. The ref on the field never said the defender was forced out, CBS only told us that in the second half.

Thing is a lot of people are justifying that this was a catch when clearly Diggs didn't touch him until he had already stepped out. Even the commentators and the rules expert said at 1st that he went out on his own and everyone was waiting for the call to be reversed and it wasn't. Oh well

Honestly the only difficult part to watch for me was that cheap shot by Bama. Incredibly selfish thing to do and gave LSU even more momentum. Need you guys to win out and beat Georgia in the SEC championship and Bama to win out and we may be able to make a case for making the CFP.

The disagreement is whether he was pushed out of bounds in the first place. The officials did a very poor job explaining the call during the game.

@@Landrar CBS had an article that said the defender tipped the ball just before Moss caught it, which would have made him eligible, in any case. At full speed, it's understandable (though debatable) why the refs ruled that he had been pushed out. He most certainly had feet in bounds when he caught it, though.

Regarding the catch, SEC Officiating sent out the following tweet, "In @, if a receiver is forced out of bounds due to contact by a defender, the receiver can re-establish position on the field and make a legal catch. On the play in question, the ruling on the field was the receiver was forced out of bounds by contact."

As a Mississippi State student.......stfu. I know we are trash but we are in the SEC, so everyone in the West has to play us. That’s including LSU so it is a required game. They HAVE to play us. The reason it was called a catch was bc the refs called it a push, which was a judgement call that can’t be reviewed, but when he saw what happens he couldn’t fix it because the push that didn’t happen was a judgement call.

@@raslion8745 so the ref did not call illegal touching on the call. It was a missed call which can not be reviewed and called. Since it was called a catch it could not be overturned
PBG Blicks it’s cuz he was pushed outta bounds by the defender so it was not illegal touching and not an incompletion because he re established himself in bounds so yeah that’s a rule
