I've only ever seen Samantha, Felicity, Molly, and Kit, but I remember loving Samantha's the most. It got super real as you said, which both scared and intrigued me as a little kid. Kind of makes me want to go back and rewatch it.

Kit is my favorite. I even have the tree house, which is way cool, especially for a 70 year old. I wish there was a Nanea movie. I taught 6th grade for a number of years and we started every year with the Chrissa movie and lots of good discussions. The boys got into it, too. All year long students would get on each other for being a Tara or praise someone for becoming a Sonali. I left my copy in the classroom and I hope it gets used.

I wish you were my 6th grade teacher! If my teacher did that I would’ve realized I liked American girl when I was in the age range 😢

"I feel like everyone drank like 10 Red Bulls before filming; they were so unhinged…"
I think I fractured a rib with how hard I was laughing. 😂 Really great video! I was having A TIME listening to your run down of all the movies.

I saw all of the movies. But, my favorites were Makena. Because, I had a problem at school and was in the hospital. So, I needed a tutor. I also loved Carissa. Because, I was bullied. If we were allowed to include historical movies, I enjoyed Melody’s and Maryellen’s movies better than all of the GOTY movies.

samantha’s movie always genuinely makes me cry. i’ve never loved the samantha doll but the movie made me fall in love.
i’ve never watched felicity cuz it never interested me tbh.
molly movie was good it was genuine. molly was definitely a brat and made me kinda mad but emily was so cute
kit i’ve watched but i don’t remember it at all i need to watch it again lol
chrissa i could rant about all day. me and my friends call her charrissa and i know the entire script. it’s so quotable and funny. but in all seriousness it has a really good message and the homeless aspect is awesome
mckenna i watched the premiere, i think it’s the first ag movie i’ve seen and it has a special place in my heart. this movie is perfection i don’t care. the gymnastics is so cool and i related to it because i did gymnastics too. the horses and tutor part was great as well. and i had minor reading comp problems too i think this is one of the best movies, but i do agree with the “disney channel” acting but i never noticed when i was young
saige i loved when i was little but looking back everything was very forced in it. the acting wasn’t great and the protests and stuff were so unachievable for someone who was meant to be in 4th grade. i do think it’s quotable though dylan was a brat HAHAHA
isabelle so forgettable i liked the dancing but it’s just boring i agree it goes on forever and i just don’t get it. renata drove me crazy too HAHA
grace legendary i don’t need to evaluate
lea mid i find it unrealistic and forgettable but it had a few good moments

Great video! I totally agree that Chrissa's movie is the best. Such an important message and done well. I was soooooo angry when one of the bullies jabbed Chrissa with the pencil. This movie almost had me in tears. I wish Gwen had a book of her own. And yes, Sonali is gorgeous.

Grace Stirs Up Success is a cinematic masterpiece and that is 100% nostalgia talking. My first doll was Grace and I watched her movie so many times 😂

Stop 😂 I've always loved the Felicity movie, I think it's so sweet!! Also sad I had to stop watching after the first 3 because I've never gotten to see the other movies but love the video. 🙂

I loved the Isabelle books, but the movies really fall flat. It's strange how the movies started to stray from the books so much, like they just escalated everything to be unrealistic. Like, Grace won MasterChef in the movie, something that did not happen in the books. In the books, as far as I remember, she just starts a small baking business with her friends (keyword, small)

Chrissa's movie is my favorite American Girl movie too. I've always liked it since 2009, when I was about 10 years old. It's pretty nostalgic for me too, and it does have a good message, rewatching it as an adult now sometimes.

My favorites are Samantha , Lea(I love sloths and have been to an animal sanctuary just like her) next I have a major soft spot for Chrissa who ironically released two years after I was bullied by three mean bees but one realized how much damage bullying can do and she did a sonail move and she apologized.

I can not even count all the times I have watched Kit. It is BY FAR the best American Girl movie in my book. If you haven’t watched it, it is super underrated.
    All Kit lovers…

Isabelle to me felt very stiff especially in the acting and it was the first movie where I actually noticed that the actors were acting because I was like 12 or 13 when it came out and I was like yeah this isn’t good.

The felicity movie was EVERYTHING to me. I was a horse girl and a history girl so I think you just gotta have the interests lined up to really appreciate it lol. But I agree with you about Molly. The movie made me HATE her and also Emily actually.

I watched all of the historical movies in like 2 days. The Felicity movie is my least favorite, the doll is my least favorite. It was so boring and I had trouble getting through it.😅

Here’s my ranking of what I like best
    1. Samantha
    2. Chrissa
    3. Lea
    4. Felicity
    5. Molly
    6. Kit
    7. Grace
    8. McKenna
    9. Sage
    10. Isabelle
I think the sage, Isabelle and Makena movies are cringe af but the message they’re trying to give out to others is GOOD. That is all

The Samantha movie was my favorite as a kid and the Kit movie is my favorite as an adult. Felicity’s movie is boring, every time I was basically falling asleep. Molly’s movie is ok. I don’t like Molly or her sister Jill’s character. I watched Melody’s movie a few months ago and loved it and part of Mary Ellen’s. I haven’t watched Julie’s yet. I feel Kit and Molly’s movies were changed the most from the books

I'm a big Samantha fan as well and have been for almost 20 years now. I feel like the Samantha movie is more loosely based on the central book series. They take the first book then mix changes for Samantha and Samantha learns a lesson which it shortens her timeline drastically. The books take place over the course of almost 2 years, it shortens it to like 10 months.

you know i think the worst part about the mekenna movie was toulane to an extent mekenna can have as many friends as she wants and just because she and mekenna are friends doesn't mean she has to tell her everything and even before she finds out who josie is shes kind of being incosidorate about it

Saige’s character and story do not reflect the actual people and culture of Albuquerque. Her red hair, her house, her school, her clothes.….are not Albuquerque. The only thing that is accurate is how art and music as an elementary school pull-out program alternate every other year at most schools.
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta does not have a parade through Old Town. It was filmed in Old Town, but what is this? The Balloon Fiesta has other events to announce its arrival, including have balloons take off from schools the day before the Fiesta opens. That would have been more interesting!

    • @thedollstudiobykris
      @thedollstudiobykris  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Yah! I just think they made her character a parody of the culture! Which I figured wasnt accurate 😅

    • @TrobertABQ
      @TrobertABQ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@thedollstudiobykris The movie pretty much upscaled the setting of Albuquerque to look more like Santa Fe, which it isn’t. What people saw wasn’t Albuquerque in the setting or in the way the people of Albuquerque look or live.
I have never seen the TV show “Breaking Bad”, but I have a feeling that it better represents some aspects of the culture here. A parade for the International Balloon Fiesta doesn’t happen in Old Town (there is no parade). There were “Breaking Bad” city tour vans. Yep. Life in Burque.

Chrissa was the very first AG movie I watched and I loved it!!!! I really want chrissa, sonali, and Gwen!
I loved the McKenna movie but I felt it was very dramatic.
I couldn’t stand the Saige movie it was super cringy!
I liked the dancing in Isabelle but the movie as a whole wasn’t my favorite!
I loved the grace movie and I loved Oliva as Grace also I believe the grace movie was Olivia’s first lead role.
I wasn’t exactly fond of the Lea movie I disagree I think it was pretty cheesy I’m sorry.
