    I bought this game before my son was born and never played it. He is 9 years old now and this weekend he set it up, read the instructions, and got the family to play it for the first time.
    The directions in the box aren’t clear about certain things so this video helped me learn it better for the next time.

    I have 2 questions.1. So on your turn, you can roll the dice, trade, and then build? 2. If you have development card, u can use that, then roll, trade and then build?

  • @sarahadams4141
    @sarahadams4141 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    About the victory point card worth (1Pt) can it be trade or stolen ? Or do you just keep it face down infront of you until you have 10 Pts?? Because Until now we played it this way : victory cards are kept in your hands and if a 7 or knight is rolled they can steal anything from ur hand including the victory point card

    ..can we build more than 1 in a turn, example build road, settlement? and what is the harbor with "?" mark? does it mean we can trade two different cards for 1 resource on the bank?..

    • @board_game_brothers9551
      @board_game_brothers9551  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can build multiple roads/settlements etc. as long as you have the resources to pay for them. The "?" harbor spaces mean you can trade any resources for a different resource, as long as the resources being traded in are the same type. So a "?" harbor with a 3:1 ratio means you can trade 3 of any one specific type for a different resource. I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

      @@board_game_brothers9551 ..here's my new question about development card, on my turn, and I trade for it, and I got Library, do I need to reveal it immediately to inform them that I got another VP or leave them face down until I got the necessary points to win? or just flip it down, then use it on my turn, does it apply also on the knight card? you're reply is very much appreciated..

    Could you split the roads, or must it just be one long road? For example: One road leads to 2 roads, one leading left and the other leading right. Pretty much a fork in the road of your own roads

    If I roll 7, is it mandatory to move the thief or could I keep him in the same tile? I ask it because I could already moved it to a tile and I want to keep him there.

    • @saralimje04

      Junior Hiramoto If you roll a 7, you must move the thief/robber token to a different tile.

    why is there only one desert thing? cause on my board i have there two deserts

    • @board_game_brothers9551
      @board_game_brothers9551  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sara Lim The base set only has one desert tile in it. The 5-6 player expansion comes with an additional desert tile to add to the base set. Both desert tiles will be used in setting up a 5-6 player game.

    If i build a road and another player's road is connected to my road then can i build a settlement next to his road ?

    • @board_game_brothers9551
      @board_game_brothers9551  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, each of your settlements must be connected to your own road.

    • @board_game_brothers9551

      Roads can be placed so the ends of two opposing players roads are touching, but they cannot be placed parallel next to each other on the same space.

    why are some of the number tokens red

    • @board_game_brothers9551
      @board_game_brothers9551  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 6 and 8 number tokens are red to serve as a quick visual reference that they are the most commonly rolled numbers, probability wise (besides 7, which moves the thief/robber).

    • @trisix99
      @trisix99 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can make a 2 dimensional chart demonstrating the truth in it: just draw an x and y axis with each numbering 1-6 to correspond to the numbers on a die. The ways to make snake eyes or 2 = 1 possibility. To make 3 you can have 1 die on 1 and the other on 2, and reverse, so 2 possibilities, and so on and so forth until 7... which can be rolled with the most possibilities

      Catan is meant to be played with 3-4 players. There are expansions that allow 5-6 players and special rule variants that can be played with 2 players, but the base game is only 3-4.
