Really beautiful blaster, would be great for prolonged outdoors useage. The drum loading mechanism is a big gripe though, but I understand why they needed it or else the drum wouldn't hold the darts securely enough to be removable. Can't wait for Dart Zone to start coming out with Nerf compatible stocks, barrels, muzzles, sights and mags. I'm a little tired of how Hasbro gave up on the Elite and Modulus lineups, the whole attachment thing was the biggest gimmick for foam flinging.
It's so good to see that you're still making nerf reviews after so many years man. Thank you so much for your service to the community (you're my personal nerf buying guide person lol)
The Tomcat is better than the Nexus and Stryker if you just want short dart action. 3D-printed mag converters already exist! It has higher FPS, a nicer stock, same Picatinny on the top and under the grip, a much better prime action and it's dedicated for short darts. Only thing I would recommend is replacing the foregrip with a shotgun grip or AFG. The VFG is pretty uncomfortable because you have to hold the blaster sideways to prime well.
I don't get it. I'd rather have a vertical than an angled, because no matter how much my hand sweats it'll never slip. Plus the ridges on an angled can really hurt the hand, even if you're wearing gloves. I'm pretty sure you don't have to hold the blaster sideways to prime well.
@@nomicnevermic With a vertical foregrip, your hand is perpendicular to the priming bar and the direction of the prime. This, combined with your hand being further away from the priming bar, means you need to put in more force to push the spring back. It also puts stress on the foregrip (they won't snap or anything, but it makes heavier springs a bit scary to prime). This is just from experience with Caliburns and pump-kit Longshots: most people run a shotgun or angled grip to be closer to the priming bars and deliver full force on what could be an 18kg spring. It's absolutely not required though. You're not dealing with obscene springs here, but just like with the Rival Artemis, it could give you an easier time priming. Use the VFG if you like it. Edit: Confused "perpendicular" and "parallel" (I'm not native English), it's fixed now.
@@GresSimJa Parallel? Don't you mean vertical? Isn't that why it's called a "vertical" foregrip? And your hand is pretty much at the exact same area it would be with an angled, just vertical. Heavier springs put stress on angled foregrips too, and especially with a molded vertical from the factory, you can't expect it to break. I say the vertical is better because it's easier to dicipate your hand's energy vertically than on an angle, plus it doesn't hurt unlike a grooved angled would. I don't know what kind of springs you're using but I think a vertical is overall better for a priming handle.
@@nomicnevermic GresSimJa is literally just making stuff up. Obviously a vertical pump handle is better, as your hand is in a neutral position and the pump uses your entire arm as opposed to the grip strength and unnatural wrist position required to pump a normal shotgun handle. I have no idea where he’s coming up with this nonsense.
@@Mmmmilo he's not making things up, vertical grips move the force you are applying away from the axis of movement, and increase friction due to the surfaces getting bent out of spec. Also angled is flat out more comfortable over long periods of time, its a scientifically proven more ergonomic angle
You know it's a good blaster when even Coop can't stop gushing about a springer. I really like the profile of it too - Looks like sort of sci-fi laser-tommy-gun combo.
If the dart squishing bothers you enough, you can just load the inner ring and use it as a 25 round drum. It's not ideal, but it's an option. Also, my biggest complain about this blaster is the incredibly dull aesthetics. I've already started modding mine to look all spiffy.
This is the best blaster I’ve seen in years. Great design and function all around! I’m stoked to see one of these in-person. I actually especially like the irons.
I've heard of the suggestion of loading the top set of darts tip first instead of tail first, as the tip can take the abuse and will theoretically reduce dart damage.
This is basically the most Thompson SMG looking of all the Thompson style blasters. And being a 50 round capacity, it’s the same as the 50 round drum for the real Thompson and the half dart size of the drum and the drum being detachable gives the blaster a realistic Thompson feel. And the detachable buttstock, the front vertical grip, and the full auto simulating slam firing mode adds to the Thompson theme.
The only thing that disappoints me a little about this blaster is that the stock is an N Strike stock rather than a buffer tube stock. I feel like blasters in this performance bracket generally benefit much more from buffer tube stocks because those are often designed to be a little more robust than N Strike ones.
Mine is a Lazer beam at 50 ft. As for the dart bending I would think it's no more than what the dart does hitting a hard target at 150 fps you just can't see it.
This gun is a beast! I have 2 and they are awesome. This gun hits very HARD, maybe too hard. It does take a little bit more arm strength to prime but considering the high FPS it's worth it. The only real drawback is how cumbersome and time consuming it is to reload the drum. I use a large set of tweezers to get the second layer of darts in. However, Dartzone is now selling extra 50 round drums so as long as you have a few spare drums, reloading isn't it an issue. So as of this moment in terms of ammo capacity for half length darts and sheer power this is one of the best blasters you can get right now!
Since the drum works with gravity by the looks could you not load the drum at the bottom? If you put the first dart in the drum hole at the back wouldn't it fall out of they way for the second to be loaded trough the same hole?
I wonder if it's possible to fully load the drum by loading the inner ring through the holes in the back, then pulling them up to the outer, and then loading the inner ring again
When loading the drum could you put the first 25 in through the ports then push them down (perhaps with a tool)to load the next dart through the port as well? (Asumeing you are holding the blaster level and loading the bottom of the drum the darts should fall down/out of the way. )
to load the outer ring of darts, put the bottom part in, but not the top, load up 5 this way and then use your thumb or thumb + pointer and crumple the rubber tip of the dart into the slot, no bending of foam this way.
well after loading the 1st row why not load the second row on the bottom? that way you can still use the holes on the back of the drum? haven't got a hold of it yet so not sure if that will work, but gravity helps.
Coop I got a solution in the drum if you don't want to cramp your darts you can put the darts in the hole in the drum and then angel it like Aussie's and load the darts
I have a question. I'm 14 and I'm not really strong, do you think I should purscase a Nexus Pro, or is the spring too strong for me? Can any Nexus Pro owners answer?

Coop, you should totally get the new short dart drum from Frantz Foam Works for the Villainator and do a side by side comparison of this blaster and that mod!
I got the see THE PUMP in a Coop video. Amazing. I'm still confused why NERF decided to make smaller ammo than OG Rival but refuses to do half length darts. Think of all the foam they'd save and charge the same.
i'm curious about the remaining darts in the drum at the end - were you seeing some cylinder skipping so those were just left over? i like mine a lot but there were some skips for me which could be pretty annoying, though nowhere near as bad as the Deuce. also, i found loading the 2nd 'layer' of the drum easier to put the dart head in first and then bend the foam - but it still is pretty unfortunate that you have to bend the foam, and it probably doesn't make a difference doing either way.
