When i was young , back in the 90s , my elementary school was surrounded by fields and country side flat house . Everday theres a big choice to be made , that is which road should i choose to get pass these area due to several unfriendly gang of dogs. These dogs dont actual attack you , they just love to bark and stare at you like if you do anything wrong then you will be sorry . I once got chased away running like rabbit by a little tiny dog , its so tiny , probbly half the size of a Hiromi . Those area has long gone , the city expaned so fast , when i returned to my home town a few years ago , i couldnt find a shred of evidence of its existence.
Kids nowday play with their phones and pads , they dont have the chance to experience what we had in our childhood. Embrace the great nature , play with all sorts of insects , catch fish , prawn, frog , swim in the river , get stinged by hornet coz you were trying to stamp on them .

In China people work at the limits of what is allowed and often a little beyond those limits.
So a horse and a tractor on a highway doesn't seem far fetched especially in rural areas.
Another example, there's a reason why the opposite traffic lanes in many (city) roads are separated by fences, it's to prevent cars making a U-turn.

I once saw a couple of horse carts on the outskirts of Beijing and I’ve seen them and tractors in more rural communities. In poorer places in the countryside people mostly can’t afford cars but if they have some kind of farm vehicle they can get places, slowly. I even got a lift on a farm vehicle in Xinjiang, twice. So they may have had them on the edge of Nanjing when the edges were more rural.
