Many thanks for this video. A visual guide to pastures new. Great camera work, and informative dialogue. Love the back shots looking at ground covered and the change in scenery this creates. Seeing the fells from different angles. Another belter!
Thanks Peter. This is a great walk and one of our favourites. I have walked up to Pillar from Ennerdale but much prefer the route from Wasdale Head as shown in this video. The views throughout the walk are superb. Thanks again for watching & for the positive comments, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
Hi Jim, sorry your wife is no longer with us but pleased the video brought back some happy memories of when you & your late wife when did this walk all those years ago. I bet very little has changed on this route since 1975. Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment. Take care & Best Wishes from us both.
Absolutely stunning Eddie. If that doesn’t make folk pick up their boots and rucksacks nothing will! Will try this next year when we’re next up. Nick and Liz
Thanks Nick, really appreciate the positive comments. It is a great walk with stunning views all the way. I have been up to Pillar from Ennerdale and much prefer this route from Wasdale. Fingers crossed you get good weather when you do this route. Thanks again for watching and commenting, it is greatly appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
Thanks Tom, I try to capture the great views we encounter on our walks as well as some of the routes we take. Thanks for watching & for the kind comments, it is appreciated ( and thanks for the sub) Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
Thankyou, great video, done this route several times over the years, in not so clement weather, usually do the horseshoe including Little Scoat Fell, Red Pike & down the side of Yewbarrow. The view from Red Pike is arguably one of the beast views in the lakes as it takes in Wastwater and the fells behind Whin Rigg & Illgill Head, if you haven't done the horseshoe, its a lovely walk. The best memory though associated with that walk for us, was taking our two border collies with us Bill & Molly, which are now sadly long gone, beautiful place with wonderful memories. Well timed and spaced video shots as well, which helps to keep your attentions. thanks again. Ian
Hi Ian, thanks for the positive feedback on the video, it is appreciated. We walked part of the Horseshoe a couple of months back, walking up Yewbarrow, Red Pike, Scoat Fell, Steeple and then went over to Haycock instead of Pillar. We did not get the views from Yewbarrow & Red Pike due to cloud cover, but the clouds cleared once we got to Scoat Fell, so got some great views for the rest of the walk. We wanted to do do Pillar as a separate walk to take it all in, that is why we went back to do the walk in this video. We were pleased we did as it was a superb day with great views all the way. Pleased you have those treasured memories with Bill & Molly, your two Border Collies. Thanks for watching & again for the kind comments. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
Great video. I did the exact same trip on 2nd sept. Camped on pillar, woke up to a cracking cloud inversion, the followed the route around to Yewbarrow (stopping at scout tarn for water). We camped on. Yewbarrow also, then came down to overbeck bridge. Going up and down Yewbarrow was quite daunting but ok in good weather. Thanks for posting. 👍👍
Hi James, sounded like you had a great camp on Pillar with the cloud inversion. Pillar is up there with our favourite fells and would definitely do this walk again. Camping on Yewbarrow must have been great aswell! Yewbarrow is a tricky fell to climb. Thanks for watching & for the kind comments, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
Thanks Rob. Pillar is definitely one of our favourites, it has fantastic views. We had a great day. Thanks again for watching & for the kind comments, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.

Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie. ( apologies for the late reply)
We had a cracking day Anthony, superb views all the way. You are right, it was a great coffee stop! Thanks for watching & commenting, it is always appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
Stunning views from start to finish but I especially enjoy the craggy rocky bits at about 12mins in. Splendid video thanks for sharing 👍👍👍 edit 15.25 ish also an 11 out of 10 view!
Thanks, it was a superb walk with great views all the way, we both enjoyed the walk and would definitely do it again. The views down to Pillar Rock & Ennerdale were superb and we sat up there for a while taking in the views. Thanks for watching & for the kind comments, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie
Hi Eddie, uncanny as we were in Wasdale Head just a couple of weeks ago! We did a small handful of Wainwrights but not Pillar! Loved your hike and views, will definitely refer to it when we’re next in the area! Kind regards, Simon👍
Hi Simon, that is uncanny! Wasdale is a superb part of the Lakes with some great walks. We really enjoyed this walk to Pillar, the views were superb all the way. Look forward to seeing your videos from Wasdale. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is always appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
Hi Tony, yes cracking views from Pillar. Pity it was thick clag when you where up there. You will have to go back up again sometime. Thanks for watching and commenting, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
My, Eddie you've captured some beautiful scenery there. That's a cracking photo of you stood on that rock with the mountains behind. Carol never fails to put a smile on my face when she touches these summit cairns, she he looks so happy :o) Ennerdale looks amazing from where you were. Really stunning views. Did your Great End walk a couple of weeks back and had a great day. That's a cracking walk too. I see what you mean about coming down off Seathwaite Fell. It's a bit steep but I find it so much easier with the walking poles extended. There was plenty of ground to dig them into. Still not got round to Yewbarrow yet. I'm still humming and hawing about it. Oh, by the way enjoyed watching you and Alan going up Blencathra looked great fun. Cheers Eddie and thanks for posting. David
Hi David, this was another great walk with superb views all the way. Carol is always so happy to reach the summits (as well as myself) Pleased you did the Great End walk and had a good day, it is steep coming down from Seathwaite Fell, so pleased you found it easier with the walking poles. Yewbarrow is a fell that a lot of people ( including myself) put off doing, it is tricky heading up, but gives you a great sense of achievement when you reach the summit. I had a great day with Alan on Blencathra, but disappointed we had no views from the summit. Carol and myself where back in Wasdale on Thursday and did Great Gable & Kirk Fell, another superb walk. Thanks again for watching & for the kind comments, it is always appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
@@davidburgess9058 Hi David, yes, just been looking through the footage and photos from yesterday's walk. As usual I have took far too much video and too many photos, so I have plenty editing to do, to keep me busy this week. Cheers. Eddie.
Super clear footage, great views and what a place to stop for coffee at Looking Stead. Never been up Piller before but the views were superb. Funny how Scafell looked higher than the Pike on your video and those shelters were a great place to admire those views. Cheers Alan
Hi Alan, Carol said exactly the same thing about Scafell looking the higher of the two, she thinks they have got the measurements wrong, ha! This was a cracking walk and definitely one we would do again, it had great views all the way. We were ready for our coffee by the time we got to Looking Stead. Thanks for watching & for the kind comments, it is always appreciated. Looking forward to seeing your Ben Nevis adventure. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
Really enjoyed your walk Eddie, thanks for sharing. So much great scenery. I didn't realise the top of Pillar was so flat. I must get up there next time. Looks like a great day of weather as well. Glad you kept stopping to take in the views!
Hi Peter, thanks, it was a superb walk with stunning views all the way. The top of Pillar is surprisingly flat, but still has superb views all around, definitely worth the effort. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.

Great video Eddie. I was on the High Stile range the same day as you filmed this. It was a fantastic day and very hot. Still got Pillar to do ( amongst many others ). It looks like a fantastic walk.
Hi Alan. This was a superb walk with great views all the way, definitely one we would do again. Pillar is up there with our favourites now ( we have a few though, ha!) Hi Eddie. Love that walk to Pillar though haven’t done it for a long time since I decided to climb all the Wainwright’s a few years ago😊. Much prefer your GoPro footage to mine, your colours are alot more natural. Do you do much editing to the video footage or is it down to the settings on the GoPro? Cheers atb
Hi Stuart, we really enjoyed this walk, it had great views all the way. It is a walk we would definitely do again. I have my GoPro set to record with a flat colour profile and then I adjust the colours etc during editing. It has been trial & error, but now I have my settings wrote down, which I tend to use for each video.
