I played this game when I was 8 and finished it when I was 16, 4 days ago, on President's Day. This game is so beautiful and Smiles and Tears being the Eight Melodies is so good
i had a similar experience, i played it for the first time at 8, fell in love with the world but couldnt advance, came back at 14, and beat it, one of most beautiful games i have ever played, i balled at the ending.
this song has always been one of my favorites in games. i remember it spreading around in memory of satoru iwata. something about it just feels.... i don't know how to describe it. perfect for reflecting on old memories, i guess. thank you so much for such an incredible arrangement of such a classic, emotional song. my dad got me into video games when i was very young, probably when I was like 3-4. I'm 22 now and it set me on a career path of 3D modeling. I'm doing contract work on an indie game now and am on a job search hoping to work in the entertainment industry 3D modeling, whether in games, movies, etc. On 12/15/23, the day this arrangement was posted, he suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in his sleep. he had a lot of health issues throughout his life but i never really knew the full extent of them, he didn't want me to worry. we played games together all the time. most recently we had a big game day on october 20th when mario wonder and spider-man 2 came out, and he just finished the Mario RPG remake and adored it. One of his favorite series was Pikmin and I'm so fucking happy that he got to play Pikmin 4. him and I suffered through that decade long wait and every nintendo direct he'd be like "yeah there was some cool stuff announced but still no pikmin 4!" my favorite game of all time is Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door and it was pretty high up on the list for him too if I recall. we were both so fucking excited for the remake next year. I remember on the Switch's launch day he picked me up from my sophomore year of high school and got out of the car and held the Switch box and Breath of the Wild above his head like Simba as I came out to the car. we held a booth at the TooManyGames convention this past June where we had a game show where people had to guess the game based on our hints, and if they got it right they got to keep the game. I will absolutely be running this booth again next year in his honor. my heart fucking hurts that i'll never get to play a game with him again, let alone the many other things we did together. anyway. i listened to this arrangement two days ago when it released and loved it. little did i know that he was already gone. I wouldn't know until later that night after my mom came back from his apartment to check on him since we hadn't heard from him all day. i'm listening to it again now and just started sobbing all over again. this song really is the perfect one to look back at all the good times with. Smiles, and Tears. I love you dad. thank you for everything. i promise we will take the best care of your beloved cat Buddy. and i will marathon the pikmin games in your honor 9/6/70 - 12/15/23
I've first read this comment quite some days ago but I really wanted to think about what to say, but the truth is I don't feel like words are enough in this case. I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope that after all the grief and sadness you'll keep all the happy memories with you, carry on with all the things you shared together and keep his memory alive in anything you'll end up doing in life. Feel free to stop by in this community anytime you want, you'll be welcome.
This cover is something special, really beautiful with excellent progression that takes us through soft and rockin' moments. It really filled me with emotion and made me think of all the things in the past that I miss. Wonderful work on this!
How I feel when I've completed a day's worth of teaching. "Well, I did it... didn't I? Guess its time for some dinner and rest, o'l pal." *shuts clarinet closed, but slowly*
Heya! Will you ever make a cover of a Pizza Tower song? It's all electronic instruments, so it would probably be impossible for anyone... besides you!! Still stunned you made one of Teknopathetic xD Regardless, if I can suggest a song from that specific game, I enjoy "Overcooked meat lover" a lot for its simplicity. Hope you like it too!
