marty just casually reminding us of how bad Microsoft did him. You deserve so much better and it's sickening to know we live in a world where great artists and people are stolen from and disregarded without so much as a second thought. Thank you Marty for everything you've done and everything you do. We'll always despise microsoft for this
    BIG EDIT
Marty, you are the original human being that wrote this music and did everything else with Halo i can’t even credit you on, much like Microsoft. I just know i’ve been a halo fan since i was 4 years old in 2007 and the biggest part WITHOUT A DOUBT was the music. it didn’t just glue it together. it was the part that I intend to keep for life. Halo didn’t need much help being memorable to me but the music made it unforgettable.
Halo is literally a gold mine right now that microsoft is sitting on contemplating what to do with. To me, and many others, Halo is more interesting than any fiction sci-fi mystery war games/media that can even compete. (at least the bungie stuff is)
if you know even just a little bit of halos background you know how deep the universe is with all of its iconic detailed factions and locations. Halo has a million amazing perspectives and stories you can tell. Not only like saving the entire galaxy in Halo 1, 2, and 3, but maybe Contact Harvest? (first contact with the covenant) or The InterPlanetary War? (human vs human war which is about to be me with microsoft)
Hopefully some day when i’m alive a studio won’t dick around with the biggest video game title in history. Maybe one day it can be like Star Wars but not in the hands of Disney, and more importantly made by people like us who love halo.
-❤ a big fan of this stuff obviously (also i discovered an easter egg in halo 3 today that i didn’t notice for 15 years and most people haven’t noticed. The Silent Cartographer island from CE is in the end of the warthog run. You drive around it while fleeing to the Forward Unto Dawn. this wasn’t even 3 hours ago and i’m still in awe and just jaw dropping appreciation for this level of environmental storytelling. this is also why i came back and wrote Marty a 4 paragraph essay because how can you not love Halo when it used to have stuff like this sprinkled in)

@moviereviews1446 Marty’s been screwed over by Microsoft, Bungie, and Activision. Microsoft never paid him or Michael Salvatori for their composure of the Halo soundtrack until recently. Later down the line Bungie fired Marty and made him pay a lot of money because Marty had posted songs he composed himself on to TH-cam. It’s speculated Activision is the reason Bungie fired Marty.

Allow me to give you a proper answer. Some people forget that not everyone knows the details of everything.
Halo Infinite is using rearrangements of the original works composed by Marty and Michael. However, neither were given credit for the original composition. Iirc, they also did not receive royalties for the usage of said compositions. @@moviereviews1446

Marty, why are these corporations legally allowed to not credit original composers? As a classical musician myself, I'm aware of Liszt's piano transcriptions of Beethoven's symphonies, and even though both the original and transcription are public domain, anyone who is anyone would credit Beethoven as the composer and Liszt as the arranger. And if I were allowed to make a piano transcription of my friend's orchestral work, he would be credited as the composer and I as the arranger.
What happened that corporations are legally allowed to sidestep this? If it's not illegal, it should be changed. I get that when one composes music for a company the music belongs to the company, but man, they are actually allowed to take off names too? That's awful...
(Going back to being a professional musician, i learned almost nothing about copyright law in music school classes... That needs to be a much higher priority for all musicians to learn.)

It's a passion that I've always wanted to expand upon and become at least decent at. I would absolutely *kill* for a series about this! Thank you for the lesson Marty, it's important to know the difference between a composer and a rights holder.
You and Michael are composers for example, and Microsoft is only holder of the rights (albeit 50%).
And renditions can be good, take Halo Anniversary as an example, while many people may not like it for the visuals, the sound design is really good!
Paul Lipson, Lennie Moore, Tom Salta and Brian Trifon were the ones in charge of putting the music together and orchestrating it with Skywalker Sound (who also designed the sound).

Much of my music is very much inspired by you and Michael Salvatori. In fact, I collaborated with an animator to compose music for a HALO animation and we JUST posted it yesterday. many elements of the piece are straight motifs from YOUR Halo theme, to which we gave credit. Even then, with clearly obvious copyright concerns, we are not monetizing the project or music at all out of respect and admiration for You and the community. It was a pure passion project and we made it clear as such. It's Ironic that you posted this only a few days before us haha. Once again, to be clear, much of the music was composed by me, but to not give credit where credit is due (like some "people") is absolutely absurd and borderline ostentacious.
Once again, much love Marty and we are truly grateful to have you and your compositions as the artistic face and staple of what people think of when they think of "Halo."

The music you wrote with Michael is simply breathtaking and it has been a source of inspiration for me as I write my own music and stories. Thank you for your contributions to the amazing art of music and for continuing to share your knowledge with us.
Know that whatever you do next, whether with TH-cam, your music, or with the gaming industry, know that I will be praying for you; that God gives you direction and peace if you call on His Name.
    God bless and prayers,

The underlying music of the Halo theme sounds like something from Final Fantasy :O

One of my favourite songs is The Ecstasy by Activision.
    Thanks for the memories, Marty.

Hey Marty, is there any Depeche Mode influence on some of the Halo OSTs?
I was listening to Higher Love and reminded me of the soundtrack that plays during the mission Gravemind when you escape the counsil chamber and chase after Truth. There is also some other DM songs that seem to have traces of what I'd call Halo OST dna.
