    Watching again this video it looks like it was all on the pilot: On 1:40 the pilot sees that the model is taking to the right towards the black fence. On 1:41 the pilot corrects to the left. On 1:42 is too late, the Messerschmitt has crashed to the left. Very little time to make corrections. This is a fast model. Please keep bringing great and interesting videos. Don't get disappointment, and happy flights when possible!

    Like what others said , never use a gyro on the first flight, turn it off and trim the plane first , also you dont need all that steering.

    Still I do not understand how the gyro caused this crash during takeoff since Gyros do not impose any movement on servos over manually stick input. (?) My best clue is that a super strong cross wind pushed aside the model from the runway.

    Sorry to see that. She likes a bit of flaps on takeoff from my experience. I have 20+ flights on mine with one crash due to signal interference. But yeah try a little flap next time. Just my suggestion brothers.

      It’s was disappointing for sure... the walk of shame was long that day I can tell you. The nice thing is that with a little replacement foam and a new set of gears it is already totally rebuilt (7 days later) and ready for a new attempt. This time, with no gyro!

    were you trying to take off in crosswind? ran into same problem with my he-162. I would hold nose down fully until I was sure it was tracking straight, and then give it full up elevator. However, I suspect with the low thrust line of the me-262, it wouldn't need full up elevator at all. In fact, it would shoot straight up and end in catastrophe. Thinking, full nose down and and then slight nose up when she's built up adequate speed. sorry for the mishap. I felt that same sinking feeling when it t boned that hard grass..

    • @angryzeppelin2750
      @angryzeppelin2750  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep i totally agree. Full nose down then nose up when it builds up speed is the right way. The gyro was on and was lifting the elevator slightly and we lost contact with the front nose gear and that caused the crash. i should have just flown the plane instead of adding an unknown to the process.... hindsight is 20/20

  • @claudiomueckay4219
    @claudiomueckay4219 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    It looks reparable. The part I don't get is how the gyro makes the plane to turn out the runaway to the left when the gears are in full contact with the surface (plane is level). Please explain to me so I don't make the same mistake (I use only gyros in my planes) Thanks, Happy flying! :)

    • @angryzeppelin2750
      @angryzeppelin2750  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what we can tell the plus setting was trying to stabilize the plane with a little up elevator. this took the nose gear just off the runway and then as it turned it applied the rudder and over corrected. the nose gear was ground down on one side of it from the speed and friction.

  • @bradhaines5711

    You guys all know how to fly so why bother using a gyro? They really aren't required unless you are learning and need a bail out feature. Anyway, keep up the great video's. Thanks for sharing.

    • @shelbyseelbach9568
      @shelbyseelbach9568 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I couldn't agree more. The gyro is unnecessary. Without it this plane would have flown beautifully and still be in one piece. If you have actually learned to fly, you don't need it. If you wish to get into advanced aerobatic flight, maybe get one back out and really learn to use it. But for sport flying it is just not needed.

    • @modeljetjuggernaut4864
      @modeljetjuggernaut4864 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      IMO, the gyro should only be used for aesthetic effect for that perfect streamlined flight in moderate to strong wind, never as an aid for better control of the aircraft.

    • @shelbyseelbach9568
      @shelbyseelbach9568 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@modeljetjuggernaut4864 i agree, but people start flying with a gyro and become afraid to fly without them because the gyro has actually speed their growth as pilots by making corrections they never learn to. That's my main problem with gyros. Once you've actually learned to fly, by all means use a gyro if your plane needs one.
      When self driving cars actually go into common use, a teen yr old well be able to get in a car and go somewhere but they will never actually learn to drive. Know what I'm saying?

    You guys need flying lessons and maybe go back to trainers until your ready for nicer planes

    • @bernardalderking5211
      @bernardalderking5211 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's right these guys crash a lot of planes. I highly doubt it was the gyros fault pilots like to blame anything but themselves. If you use a gyro there is nothing wrong with that but just like any piece of tech you have to know how to install and setup correctly. Some gyros have self level most simply stabilize against wind gusts or help aircraft like Me-109 with narrow gear during takeoff and landing (if they have yaw stabilization). Watch Pilot Ryan fly FMS 109 with and without gyro. He is a very good and experienced pilot and could not land it cleanly without gyro. With gyro it made all the difference. I don't care how good a pilot you are it's impossible to correct in gusty conditions so if you want to fly a nice model in high wind a gyro makes the difference between having an enjoyable experience or having to constantly correct for gusts doesn't matter how good a pilot you are. People making blanket condemnations of gyros usually have large egos so they will refuse to use a tool which has it's place in the RC world for sure because they want to strut about bragging how they never use a gyro. Works out because when it's windy I have the field to myself because they won't fly in high gusty wind conditions. Always start out with gyro on lowest sensitivity and gradually increase until it starts oscillating then back off to last smooth setting otherwise they can cause over control and control surface oscillations which can potentially damage flight controls, hinge points or worse. If you start out with sensitivity cranked way down they won't do much of anything so it will be like there is no gyro anyway. Then after maiden flight and trimming you can slowly dial up the sensitivity. If it is an aircraft with SAFE technology then gyro will already be setup for that airframe.

      @@bernardalderking5211 ... I love to fly my EFXTRA especially in high winds - without gyro. And it goes faster than some Jets. An expansive Jet I wouldnt start with wind speed > 20 mpH, especially if it`s gusty, with or without gyro. For this purpose I fly my low priced or old planes and have fun with it.

      Learning where your limits as far as skill is a hard thing to learn and harder to put into practice. When we go out to do these recordings we take a dozen planes and try to record them all at once. the conditions just got worse and worse all day. I should not have attempted the maiden in all fairness. But lesson learned and thats a damn good thing in my book.
