Thanks for trying out the adapter for cameras. Thanks for taking the time to film and edit the gravel ride. I don't film my rides currently, but the more information out there about one's options, the better
I recently did a gravel ride at Lightning Ridge but without a camera. The bike handled it quite well and i didn't even fall down any mineshafts . Nice video .
@@brilliantbikes Lightning Ridge is in central New South Wales , Australia. I followed the red door trail (35 ks ) through the opal mines . All the trails are marked by different coloured car doors so you don't get lost... 👽 ..
Another timely video, only yesterday I was researching similar mounts that could handle a Garmin 1000 series / Edge 2 & mount a GoPro (or similar device) and still be fold-friendly. The closest I got was a mount by Trigo that mounts onto the stem bolt w/Garmin mount directly on top (they provide other mounts for Wahoo, Bryton etc). Though an action camera would still have to mounted elsewhere, I’m not keen on a chesty mount. Trigo also do a mount for the GoPro that also mounts to the stem bolt. It’s a pity nobody has yet come up with an out-front mount that mounts in the reverse (so the Garmin is mounted closer toward you) and has a very small out-front mount to take a GoPro and still be fold-friendly, especially if the Garmin mount had a midway fold point controlled by a similar mount to the you showed for rotation. The biggest downside for me is Quadlock’s pricing, though I’ve recently seen some interesting mounts from China, but then I’m sure Quadlock’s stuff must be made there too…
I like the quadlock phone holder for my Brompton and their extensive assortment but would like they to sell spare 3M VHB stickers. They insist you buy a new adapter to get the same standard but my experience is that aftermarket stickers work fine.
If it’s a Giro - yes! I have that one … I wear it on all roads - amazed on coldest days how much warmer I am due to the visor! And sunny days I wear sunglasses under it, the biking kind that are tight to the face
I’m amazed at how much warmer I was last winter when I upgraded to my Giro visor helmet. So YES!! quite good at blocking things from hitting your face. It’s quite jarring 😅 when something hits the visor and you realize what would’ve struck your face if you had a regular helmet on. I wear it on every ride.
@@brilliantbikes Give it a try, you’ll be surprised how much warmer you are just because of the face shield … that is if any rainy cold weather ever shows up in your part of the world 🤣 Your videos are so wonderful, informative, fun, and inspiring. Yet another reason I wished I lived in England - So I could buy my first Brumpton electric bike from you!
Lovely ride - is it safe to ride Brompton’s on gravel-ey roads like this from time to time? I plan to get my first Brompton for commuting and errands - the e-bike version later this year, and there are some gravel-ey trails I’d like to ride to get some exercise not just commuting.
If you only need it for that purpose I believe there is only one: Cycliq Fly12. Up to 7 hours of runtime on a single charge. No other camera can do that.
i know you asked her, not us, but the new runcam thumb looks fairly promising if you're at all familiar with the soldering iron. you aren't constrained by the battery choice of the manufacturer, as the camera doesn't come with an external battery, you have to supply it. this sounds bad on the face of it, but it's actually great, because you can choose a normal cylindrical 21700 cell for ridiculous battery life if not in the highest video bandwidth modes
Not sure why they didn’t make the phone mount an out-front mount and then the go-pro could have sat happily underneath. Just needs a main hinge so both phone and GoPro can swing up and out of the way for folding
Does anyone have recommendations for mounting a Garmin cycling computer on a Brompton? I used to commute using my bike+train+subway but now I live in suburban area and cycle the whole commute so no longer need my phone out for train tickets / subway swipes and am considering a real cycling computer but don’t want to part ways with my trusty quadlock mount.

It was a beautiful day / a great day for riding / and ideal for trying out the new mount
Any excuse for a ride ;-)

Where is Lightning Ridge out of interest?

Lovely aesthetic decisions in this video. Congrats!
Thank you so much! And thank you for watching!
Thanks for the video. You look like my favour power ranger!
😀 thank you and thank you for watching!
Aaaaand ordered 😄
Many thanks! And thanks for watching!
What tires and pressure for gravel?
Funny we just rode our demo bikes, so they had Marathon Racers and standard pressure.
Thanks for watching!

Any bike frame fitted mount picks up all the road noise, BY FAR the best mount is the GoPro clip mount for rucksack straps, no ‘jiggling’ , no problem
But then I have to wear a rucksack, which is by far the worst way to carry kit on a bike 🤷♂️
The nice thing about mounting on the bars is that you can forget it
If your not too self conscious the we think the ‘chesty’ gives the best result
Like the gravel ride. Can you do a vid on the helmet and visor and are replacement visors available?
If it’s a Giro - yes! I have that one … I wear it on all roads - amazed on coldest days how much warmer I am due to the visor!

When I bought the helmet, I bought a replacement visor just in case. Seems to be available.
What tyres did you use on the gravel paths?
Thanks for watching! We actually just had Marathon Racers on and had a bit of fun!
What Quad Lock need to do is make an adaptor to fit a Garmin to their system mount.
Yes - wouldn’t that be a nice feature!
I see more and more of these visor helmets. Are they really that good at blocking wind and bad weather?

What cycling camera would you recommend for recording accidents?

Handy! Unfortunate they couldn’t find a solution to keep the phone mount available though

There are third party Garmin to quadlock mounts you can buy.
We tend to use the Garmin ‘rubber band’ mounts on our Bromptons
Though as the next comment says we have seen some good adapters on customers bikes
Yay Quadlock.
May I ask what part of Chobham Common is that?
It's a fairly large area on the map.
Can't you just spin the Quadlock attachment 180 degrees before attaching the camera, it would be further back enabling you to fold the bike?
We tried that and it just caught, so did what we did in the video. Thanks for watching!
Hi. What tyres are you running on the gravel?
Thanks for watching
We were on 2 bikes - both with Marathon Racer tyres
Both running at quite low pressure - around 80-85 psi
you have an intense primer? nice bike!
Yes an intense primer - I love and trust it for going just about anywhere!
Thanks for the video! What tires did you use for the gravel?
Exactly the question I had! 🙂
We had 2 bikes - both running Schwalbe Marathon Racer tyres
We ran them relatively soft at 80-85 psi
@@brilliantbikes Thanks, I’ll give them a try!
🙂👍
