Owning your own car is still the best. Just separate PHV and car sharing COE from the normal COE just like taxis. End of story

PHV mostly owned by car dealers and they have the best of both world. And it is the truth that they are laughing all the way to banks.

Rental companies just keep bidding to have new cars, price of COE goes even higher. People gets priced out of their own car and goes for car sharing/leasing. Rental companies have even more incentives to continue to bid even with high COE. What’s the downside here for the rental companies ? Taxi don’t share the same COE, so why are PHV/leasing companies allowed to?

Exactly, this is just a money making scheme where only the government and these corporations are the winners. The only losers are the people that needs a family car. Heck, even the end users are losing out as the prices of PHV services and car sharing prices will be controlled by the corporations.

Why not share the amount of leasing a car? Like how much is your lease and how long it is. Rather than share all this experiences and thoughts. I think the main factor will all come down to the price in the end. So why didn’t they mentioned about the price? 🤔 probably they are forking out $2-3k per month to lease the cars. A standard toyota vios or honda fit starts from $1.7k. In my humble opinion, buying is always better. For me its how much you are willing to fork out every month. And with car leasing i see a minimum of 1.7k a month for maybe 2-3 years and thats just a standard japanese 1.0-1.5cc car not yet conti. Like one of the guy mentioned prius plus 7 seater is probably 2-3k a month. Thats just not worth it tbh even without road tax and insurance.
If you buy and own a car you can play around with the monthly by the amount you downpay. You can get below $1k monthly but have to downpay a hefty amount provided you are willing to do so. But if you are willing then in the end it is still worth it because of the monthly you are forking out. If you can get a monthly of $900 plus petrol maybe around $400 if you top up in SG its still lesser spending in a month than leasing a car.
All this guys is talk about why they like driving, how convenient it is to drive a car, and for car leasing its easy you can change cars like you change clothes like that. But convenience is the same with owning, leasing or renting. In the end you are behind the steering wheel and driving.
So in my humble opinion, this video is avoiding talking about the price and the amount for car leasing and basically just talk about how convenient it is to drive a car. So its no brainer leasing is damnnnn expensive in the end. 🎉🎉🎉

Govt has done a good job bringing up the price of cars. Are they going to do anything to being up the better responsibility of driver and car owner?

Is the car rental n phv that caused the issue in the first place

Corporates do block bids to get new cars for the demand of PHV n rental - less people own car, more is the demand.

Car Leasing/Car Sharing/PHV part of the problem not the solution. Looks like new order for pushing new narative

Wow kinto looks amazing. Leasing sounds like a good option when the coe is astronomical now. Midview is pretty good too. Thai food there is good, so good bakery is there, zeppin also nice. Feels like leasing is akin to a service apartment with lots of service.
If kinto is around both Singapore and Malaysia, if your family member is Malaysian, can you lease from my?
Looking at my neighborhood, see a lot of new carplates snl snm. Mazda cx60, defender 130, I also just changed my plate from sma to snk. I am guessing high coe is not stopping people from changing.
