Perhaps next episode, 1st time buyer for a young family with 1 kid. Baby seat.
Subsequent episodes could also be young executives.
Another episode for people who goes for badges and look but not so particular with performances. (Controversial episode, could go viral) ;)
Another episode for people who wants large spaces that fits 5-7 people easily for a good road trips up to the north
Lastly performance cars for aspiring racers
    ;)

Enjoyed this version of SGCARMART'S creativity. Unbiased and definitely helpful. However, some feedback:-
1)Perodua Bezza is the cheapest brand new car in Singapore. Not the Attrage.
2)Depreciation. Depending on the model, popularity and other factors, costlier car might not mean a better deal. Agree?
2)Make other videos with higher budget in mind. Say between $100k to $200k. Should be interesting.
3)Also,can you guys make a recommendation of 2nd hand 1st time buyers. Not everyone can afford a new car.
4)Besides pricing, perhaps can include basic input/info such as reliability, handling and long term cost of ownership.
5)Sorry Julian, 1st new car should never be a continental. Korean or Japanese makes more sense.
6)Maybe can invite the public, like a guest in any of your videos. We can share info and knowledge.
Keep up the good work guys. As always, you guys are fantastic to watch!!

can u guys talk about depreciation as well? Been driving the 1.0 Opel Astra HB since 17 as my first car and its real life depreciation vs on paper is so ridiculously different. I guess its just a demand and supply thing here in the 2nd hand market but if u look overseas like in europe or australia, it holds its value way better.... And i heard that other non premium continental brands like the Skoda, Seat, Renault, Citroen and Peugeot suffers the same fate. Maybe its time for you guys to cover depreciation as well cause most first time buyers wont really know until they try to trade in or sell their car like myself. Thanks guys!

I think the Suzuki Swift or Seat Toledo would make good economical choices for the first time buyer

Nice review! Was getting worried when I didnt see about the Honda Jazz until the top 2 were mentioned :D I drive a jazz hybrid and although its PI, at S$75-78k it gives 20km/L, 138 bhp, 180nm and regular petrol car servicing fees, at the slight compromise of boot space and magic seats.
The electric motor powers the electrical steering, compressor so that at start stop traffic, theres minimal engine starts at all. Perfect for Singapore roads.
Also not forgetting the mod cul of jazz owners :D
What are your thoughts on it?

If I am choosing the top 5 cars, It will be this
    5) Suzuki Jimny (a person who just want style and forgo-ing the practicality)
    4) Skoda Octavia (Ticks all the boxes, but slightly more expensive)
    3) Hyundai Accent (a very handsome looking car)
    2) Suzuki Swift (I think is most of 1st-time driver's dream car)
    1) Honda Jazz (Really cannot go wrong with a Honda)
I more conservative, so I never choose car that is 3 cyl. Because it is not very refined and it is mechanically imbalance!

    • @ianlowyien2447
      @ianlowyien2447 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The new swift is a 3 cyl. However, I think the technology has improved quite a bit compared to 3 cyls of the past!

Am surprised no one picked the newest Swift, Seat Leon, Ibiza, Subaru XV. Agree with most of the choices but I feel majority of the picks have CVTs which are meh to drive. Also, think that you guys should cap the price at 85k. First time buyers tend to be very very sensitive price.

  • @AllonLim

Great choices guys!! And yes the i30 engine packs a punch for its price.

  • @DavidDavid-yz2sh
    @DavidDavid-yz2sh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That's right kia cerato is a really value for money car. Exterior, interior and performance is good for this price range. They are using 2nd highest avant gard steel. Solid in built and safety. If it's atrrage I rather go for mitsubishi space star Exterior and interior is good only the performance, but for a point a to point b is really good enough.

Maybe you will want to try doing a top 5 of various types of cars such as Sedans, SUV and Hatchback? Or a top 5 CAT B cars? Would be interested if you make a video to intro on the new RAV 4.

I thought resale value should be a consideration as well especially when a proportion of first time buyers tend to look to upgrade their cars somewhere down the road.

Wow cars in sg are pretty expensive. With SGD98,000 I can get a BMW M2 in Australia with some spare change 😂. For starters or first buyers, going for Japanese cars can never go wrong. Very reliable, cheap running cost, n low maintenance/service cost. My top 5 would be 5) Toyota CHR cute small SUV, 4) Toyota Corolla Ascent - pretty good looking hatch even though I dun like hatch 3) Honda Civic - sporty look, good pricing, 2) Honda HRV - great price for small SUV, ticks most boxes, great family car for that price, 1) Mazda 3 Sedan - pleasure in driving, excellent premium interior, awesome tech & good pricing.

How much does it cost to own a car in Singapore in terms of Monthly cost and how much should I earn in order to afford a car comfortably. Perhaps also can mention in videos why should one own a car in SG (if there is even a good reason to begin with 😂). Maybe your can mention why your own a car in SG?

So sad suzuki swift is not in. IMHO it's a good small no frills cheap car with a 1.0 turbo with the good old torque converter to give ample power to zip around. Give it a review and you will know what I mean. It's a good 1st car for new young drivers...

I have to disagree with Julian on the Skoda Octavia. It makes a better 2nd time car than a 1st time car, mainly due to the continental nature of the car and the DSG gearbox which needed extra care.
1st car should be something common on the road, easy to maintain and marketable value.
Besides the suzuki Swift which I mentioned earlier, I'm also surprised no one mentioned the Avante and instead mentioned the Kia K3.
The Avante is an easier 1st car due to the ADs flexibility in loans, insurance and price fixed even without a car to trade in. If you read the fine print, the Kia price actually includes an existing car to trade in, which a first owner will not have, they will end up having to pay more than the listed price.
But maybe cos C&C blanjah you so you cannot say? Lol

I went with the Cerato as my first car because its very value for money and you get loads of useful features with less than 100k. While the safety features may be lacking, honestly i think the rear camera is the most useful feature for first time car owners. 126bhp may seem lacking for seasoned drivers, a first car owner like me wont notice it until years of driving. It is spacious and its posh interior is really suitable for a family of 4.
Great content during the CB period, maybe you guys can explore into making videos such as introducing mods to do or not to do to our car!
