G:link - Gold Coast Light Rail

The G: carried its first passengers, albeit non-fare paying ones, in a celebratory day on Sunday, July 21. Thousands of Gold Coast locals and visitors took the ride on the 13km track from Broadbeach South Station to Gold Coast University Hospital station throughout the inaugural day. Official paid services commenced the day after. I boarded the tram on both days, and this video is an overview of the journey.

great to hear of the gold coast light rail and a ride is for free can you imagine a small ride with a tram in Ams cost already 5 bucks

Good to hear the trams are being planned to extend from Southport to Helensvale train station! Due to be completed before the Commonwealth Games.

Just got back to freezing cold New Zealand tonight after a week in the GC. Absolutely loved the light rail using the Gocard system. What a shame the useless beuracrats here can't initiate the same sort of thing, instead of arguing what benefits it would bring or whos going to pay for it. We have Kiwi rail but those dirty diesels are way too inefficient in their current form.

though we are 5 min walk from our tracks, we dont use rail in our area.. its more bulk freight that passes through at all hours. It used to be passenger once upon a time though, but like most things, its gone.
i often wonder why the G: doesnt go all the way to coroboree.. being theme parks out that way, be way better than those busses..
