Awesome video! And perfect timing, just when I thought I'd watched all of the lapping videos on youtube the past 2 days ;-). Time to make some plates!

Excellent video. Would you mind putting a link to the reference video by Spencer? I can't seem to find it. Thank you.

Do you have a video with the setup for the interferometeric setup you were viewing the optical flat/part interface with?
It looks like something that I might like to reproduce.

Yep! Called “fizeau-ish interferometer thingy” or something

Took me some time to notice little eyes on Mahr indicator 😁

How does one go about removing the embedded/charged abrasive particles after the plate is made?

What a neat way to view fringes, projecting the laser reflection. Never seen that.

Interesting optical flat setup, can you explain how you built laser apparatus more so that it can do optical flat inspections? Thanks. Also more details why only 2 plates are needed and not 3?

Would the rounding be less if you held the part in a V-block while lapping? With both the V-block and the target part touching the plate simultaneously? I suppose it would take a lot longer though due to the extra surface area.

dude your technic is wrong Gelbart lap his air bearing with a bit of water between the sandpaper and the surface plate lol

My eyes bugged out when you said "40 millionths."

What do you need to lap to a couple millionths? Just gage surfaces generally?

The world would just work better if everything was lapped to a couple millionths

Can you lapping on them diamon and silicone carbide for like f2000-8000? For natural stones
