As an employee of Guitar Center, I can 100% confirm what you said about knowing our department and our department only.
***** the guys I work with do and our audio guys are DJs as well so nothing to unconfirm
***** well I'm sorry to disappoint you but I've never had any bad experiences regarding employee knowledge even at other stores

If the guys where you're at aren't very good I'm sorry to hear that but the guys where I am are good.
At the Sherman Oaks guitar center, the store is nicer than the employees. I've met three very nice employees there before. The rest are prejudiced assholes and musical elitists. I remember this one dickhead was giving me dirty looks since I look like more of a football player type, or maybe because I was playing Lefty, there are good stores like the one in Northridge CA and Hollywood but some locations are just shit and have worse vibes than seeing ten cops stacked at your front door

They are so nice in Guitar Center tho.. Like, I'm sure it's just because they're really into it, but every time I go in there I swear I get a pep talk for following my dreams and having fun with it before I leave.

great video. so true. I remember going for the first time and trying to buy analog effect pedals with true bypass.... I always had solid state up to my first tube amp. No one knew what I was talking about then they called for the guy that worked in the pedal section. The people I originally asked actually worked in microphones and live sound....

I love the people in the Guitar Center near my house, they're awesome :P My friend and I walk in and sit there playing guitars for like four hours and we always leave without buying anything, and they never say anything to us except "Can I get you a guitar pick, or anything else you might need?" Plus they were really useful when I was still learning and needed advice on capos and stuff. They don't see many teenage girls who are serious about it in there, so they're always really nice.

Stores like REI (outdoors sporting equipment) are the same way. The hiking shoe guy knows nothing about bicycles, and the kayak guy knows nothing about coats and gloves. Even though they are right next to each other. the long convo is started with "What did you do last weekend?" or "Is there anything to do in the mountains this weekend?".
