Zappa in the late ‘70s seems to have gone through a phase of not wearing a shirt on stage. I thought that was kind of unusual, but I don’t recall him ever mentioning it in any of his interviews.
Zappa would adapt the arrangement of songs to suit the band he was touring with at the moment. So sometimes they ended up sounding nothing like their album version at all. And this particular piece, which relays heavily on solos and improv, is definitely no exception.
