Just the fact that Black Panther is still in theaters 6 months after original release is amazing in its own right. The movie has been on Blu Ray for about 3 months now and its still in theaters is impressive.
Well deserved Black Panther. Well deserved and well earned.
Love this show! Congrats to Black Panther on finally joining the $700 Million Club.
Infinity War could definitely make it to $700 million in one night if they make it part of a double feature on the opening of the next Avengers movie. Imagine it, going to the theaters and watching those movies back to back. I would watch that.
Sign me up for that!
Benjamin Tillema or maybe put it in front of Captain Marvel in March.
Forensic Chick
That could work too!
The reason I said the next Avengers movie though is because one is the conclusion of the other. While they don't have the Part 1 & 2 in their titles anymore they still very much linked to each other and watching them back to back would be extremely satisfying (hopefully).
That is a possibility. Though to be honest I couldn't imagine sitting through both movies in a single day. 'Avengers: Infinity War' is too long as it is.
That would be a really smart move on Disney's part. Sure, sitting through two features with runtimes that long isn't for everyone but they will definitely have a lot of takers.
Congrats to Black Panther. Wakanda Forever!
Also I love Dan's shirt!
One of my favorite things to see each week, charting with Dan🙌
Isn't it funny that:
Before 2008 you had: First 3 same franchise (Spider-Man), Incredibles, Batman movie
After 2008 you have: First 3 same franchise (MCU), Incredibles, Batman movie
AceVsKnight wow that's impressive.
It's weird, we're SO CLOSE to the Meg that I'm kinda sad and excited.
I know, right?
Im just excited to see the shark 😂
I told everybody that Black Panther would outgross Infinity War domestically lol
Piers Baauw 1) they mentioned it during this segment. 2) they put it back in theaters 3) I said this back in Feb. you can check the videos. Black Panther was a phenomenon. Infinity War was an event
SorayaM24 not really. Black Panther played in wide release in theaters for 14 weeks while Avengers Infinity War played in wide release in theaters for 10 weeks.
Congrats to Black Panther!!! Also with IW what they could do is kind of an event next year with the next avengers movie in a "watch the phenomenon before you watch the next phenomenon" thing so they could push it to 700k.
700 million *
williestyle35 damn.
Str8 up Congrats to black panther, WAKANDA FOREVER!
Black Panther making the domestic box office look good. Most movies rely on foreign to help be successful. USA need to dictate our own movie success. Good job, Black Panther🔥
"It's the megaladon!!" x'D Congrats to the Black Panther crew btw :)
Im looking forward to Charting with Dan every week!
I'm always looking forward to Monday's for this
Not even two minutes in an Dan mentions legs. This man never skips leg day
I'll be seeing Crazy Rich Asians, I have no expectations but it doesn't hurt that its getting positive reviews. I am supporting it due to wanting more Asian North Americans on screen. We need more representation and different types of Asian representation.
sundawg911 I'm a black female and I am excited to see this movie too; it's a great book!
Saw a preview for it before this video. Now I want to see it too - simply because it looks awesome! I’m Caucasian.
sundawg911 I think Asian Americans are probably over represented for the size of the group not that either is bad
No one cares
Yeah: their whole point is that there are no more ‘niche’ markets. That is great: a good movie is universal.
I'm going to watch The Meg opening night because I've been dedicated to this count down too.
I LOVE Dan! After the many months I've spent with him at dinner, he's made it into my heart just like he wanted. Congratulations Danny boy!
I agree with both your takes on Darkest Minds but I do think if it were to reboot on CW, Netflix, or Freeform on a show platform it could workout in that form
Zias B Lou yes I feel after the merger is done that Disney should do darkest minds as a tv show like they did with Shadowhunters and they could do it on their streaming service and since Disney publishes the book series its based on it is more in their interest to branch it out into other revenue streams
iziah williams-Collier EXACTLY
I'd like to here your review of blackkklansman guys.
normalgirlcvco just got out of it. I actually REALLY enjoyed it
IT'S HERE, THE MEG!!!
That Christopher Robin movie was really good though.
15:20 you'd imagine Avengers IW will get a re-release when the second part comes that may take it into the 700M+ club
And over TFA globally. I really hope that happens.
i love seeing dans passion for his charts :) keep up the great work guys
The 89' Batman is UNDERRATED. The blueprint
This is the best Box office review show...PERIOD. Great job. Keep it up. Thank you.
You are my favorite box office "results" show to watch.
@screenjunkies can we please get a meme of Roth saying “Pooh is great” 9:48
No one is actually talking about the new Fantastic Beast movie
Last one made 810 million worldwide and 200+ million in the US
Pretty sure it 'll one of the biggest hits of the year
Jayan Ct that’s in November so of course they aren’t talking about it now. They are talking about summer movies and summer is coming to an end so there’s not much left coming out that can make the charts.
I feel your pain Roth. If the Meg tanks lets blame Spenny G, he sold out. How dare you Spencer... how dare you, sir.
Batman better enjoy that #5 spot Avengers 4 will be knocking it out next year!!
Dan and Roth are my heroes
Great achievment for Black Panther. And Mission: Impossible is doing great. Another awesome show guys.
What Roth said was right about the Disney merch with Christopher Robin. A friend of mine works at Disney World and has said that the Pooh and Tigger toys have been selling out lol
#WakandaForever🐾🙅🏾♂️
Moments like these makes me proud to be a South African 🇿🇦
Why do I always have to turn upp my volume at least 5 units when watching something from Screenjunkies?
Tbh for such a big channel they don’t exactly have the best mics or camera
BLACK PANTHER TOPIC STARTS AT 14:29
Congrats to Black Panther on joining the 700 million club it has become my favorite Marvel movie. I can't wait to watch Crazy Rich Asians, all the buzz is getting me excited. Great show Dan and Roth.
Ethan Hunt is running, climbing, jumping, driving and holding (on to the top spot).
He fast as fuck boi!
Hey, I'll be your pen for a moment, Dan! Chart showing % of total box office against % of box office for superhero genre 2008 - 2018. Awesome suggestion, Roth! Ho, boy, do I pray you two enjoy "The Meg!" I'm only planning to see it if you enjoy, Roth! Thanks for making my Tuesday mornings!
Just saw Christopher Robin and i loved it!!
straightedge veganbel I was thinking about that.
I love this show so much. I love Dan’s nerdy charts and Roth’s hilarious charisma. I also love a man and a woman just professionally putting out a show as friends. Highlight of my Monday. Never change.
Wow. It has been a long while since I was so soon in the comments.
So this is what it looks like before everyone else gets here...
Anyways, great show this week!!
Everyone remember to drink your ~juice~ when Dan mentions "legs".
Especially for the king of "legs" - 'Black Panther' !!
No movie reviewer should ever be surprised by the success of 'Batman (1989)' in any time period (even nearly 20 years after initial release). 'Batman' was everywhere and everything for almost 18 months (due to extended release and home video sales).
Nice tag graphic on the summer movie list. (: "...84 days ago we started counting down to 'THE MEG' and we're here". Good stuff SJ N.
I shall pray to my original Star Wars and ET VHS tapes that the Meg will be something Roth will enjoy.
I wish to see one day the return of Dan's movie club
I cannot wait for The Meg!!!
This is why i always look foward to Mondays my favorite program.
Dan and Roth always manage to be one of the shining beacons in my life.
EDIT: I meant week, not life. Geez Louise...
Enjoy each episode but can you increase the volume on the mics.
I was debating seeing Christopher Robin because I was not a Winnie the Pooh kid, but ultimately I went because of Ewan McGregor. Did not regret it at all. I love it, it was soooo full of charm, as well as heartwarming and funny.
I was so right on the Darkest Minds. FOX should have just sold it to Netflix. LOL.
Roth, could you speak into the microphone, please?
That is impressive seeing how 20 years ago all the Spider-Man films and Batman were in the top Box Office. Not surprised by the Incredibles being on the list because the first Incredibles film was ahead of it's time,
Wakanda forever!!!
Love you guys. Keep up the great work on this channel!!!
I think Roth deserves title credit! Charting with Dan is a great show name and it's definitely stuck, but Roth must not be forgotten.
As a Chinese, it’s so funny to see you guys report this.
Love Charting
It's been fun anticipating the Meg with you. You should totally find a new movie to countdown. I'm going to see it this weekend regardless if it's terrible or great. If it's bad, I hope it's one of those good bad movies.
Prediction: BlacKkKlansman takes top per-screen next week. Opens in 1500 theaters on Friday.
I'm going to see the Meg either way. I got too caught up in the countdown!! haha
I like this show, but y'know these are more tables than charts.
I saw Cameron Post at Sundance London, can't wait to hear your opinions! I hope you're going to review it, it's sooooo good! Haven't seen any of the other buzzed about films yet though - Sorry to bother you, 8th Grade, American Animals, etc. I'm really bummed out that Sorry to bother you doesn't seem to have a release date in the UK yet.
All of the Christopher Robin merch on Disney Store is sold out through the end of October so I'm sure that will help. The plush are all around $30.
Last Saturday went to see Mission Impossible:Fallout in IMAX I was little screamish when Tom broke he's ankle but still the best summer film ever and I really enjoyed it.
Can't wait to see "Crazy Rich Asians " and "Destination Wedding ". I'm craving a rom-com.
Post 2008, most of the big event movies/super hero movies were 3D movies, which inflated the ticket prices.
avengers 3 will rise over Black panther with the release of Avengers 4, the double-screenings will push it over
Thufir keep on dreaming buddy black panther had a real message and it was Afro centric a look at an African world without european colonization baby while infinity war is just a battle against a universal tyrant something that has been done before .so don't hate but congratulate and the king of wakanda is an avenger anyway so it all stays marvel .oh and by the way it's just a matter of ye before cloak n dagger becomes a movie because it's original there the best superhero duo for this era and there on fire believe that
Dub Nation the story of black panther is nothing new either.
Adrain Levy really that's why it just hit another milestone the 700 billion club abd the Oscars just created a new category because they want to give the king of wakanda an award please stop with the hating an applaud the success of something that's original .
Dub Nation lmao so I'm hating because I said it's been done before? What a pathetic response to a comment you don't agree with. It's a fact, nothing nowadays is really original and thats a fact no one can deny especially blockbusters. If you think Black Panther is original its time you watch more films that arent marvel 😂😂. Just like the movie Avatar isn't original plot wise and grossed $760m ($2.7B worldwide) . You're acting like I said the movie was bad lol it was a great film, just don't come after another film for it being like other movies when black panther is very similar to other movies as well. It even has the MCUs successful formula, which the MCU uses for all their films. No one is trying to downplay black panthers success by saying it's been done before just like Infinity War.
I saw the meg tonight - It was good! Not great but not bad you know
please make weekend boxoffice predictions
If they made a Mama Mia series about young Donna with all the same actors, I'd be all about it.
The Meg
Domestic Opening - $24 million
Domestic Total - $60-80 million
Worldwide Total - $300-400 million (a lot from China)
No one sees a movie because their race is in it. They just want to see a movie that looks good
I was admittedly a bit excited to see the Meg when the first trailer came out. Now....there is no excitement. It doesn't even look like it will be the good kind of bad. I still might use it as the last MoviePass movie I see (if they don't black it out), as my cancellation takes effect next Monday
I’ve been waiting 15 YEARS for ‘The Meg’! LET’S DO THIS!
I keep having to turn my volume way up to hear sju. Am I the only one?
The Dan's Lab t-shirt #RIP
If Movie Pass cooperates, my wife and I plan on seeing Spy Who Dumped me tomorrow.
Take that haters..😂😂
Punning With Dan!
There’s is a good chance that incredibles 2 will take number 3 slot on worldwide since in some countries in Europe haven’t gotten the movie, I’m still waiting for it to come out in Denmark on August 30th
It is unlikely Dan Murrell and Roth Cornet will see this post but in the off chance either one does can they look into how the box office for the movie "The Eighth Grade" is affected by the free one day viewing. I have heard good things about the movie and because it is as I understand it rated R a large amount of it's intended target audience would be unable to watch it. Bo Burnham somehow managed to arrange the free screenings so eighth graders would be able to watch it as they are I believe the intended audience. Knowing if the efforts of Bo Burnham are successful over the course of the movies run would be interesting and perhaps something that could be done again at a future date if another movie runs into similar problems where it's intended target audience is unable to watch it.
I do not get the significance of per screen gross. I have ben in theaters with 20 seats and with 2K seats. Radio City has 6K seats
Big releases get the big theaters, but also the small ones, so it averages out most of the time. It's a decent analog to interest in a film by people who have heard of it
I like it because it's a chance to shine a spotlight on smaller films (as well as introduce the audience to many awards favorites opening in limited release). The big blockbusters get a lot of attention, and are sometimes the films featured per theater depending on how big they open. But I think it's also important to acknowledge smaller films that are garnering acclaim in limited release. - Dan
charting with dan reminds of the parks and rec episode "a chard days night." There is no rhyme or reason.
RIP: The Meg count down.
We'll miss you!
As a Parisian, Mission impossible chase scene is crazy geographically. There are continually teleporting from the ouest, to east of paris, then south, then a none existent street, then north Is it a science fiction movie. T
Whats up with the volume
There are some movies I'm just going to see, no matter what the reviews, and the meg is now one of them. Every MCU movie is on that list, until ant man and the wasp, which I didn't get to see, cause it was pulled out of my local theater just 2 weeks after it's release.
Thats crazy. Here in LA theyre still screening Ant-Man and the Wasp. I think it was not a very good move on Marvel to put a movie about a character that did not appear in Infinity War but from the story’s perspective it makes sense. Hopefully Capt Marvel does better.
Infinity War will DEFINITELY hit $700M. MAYYY not be this year, but they're definitely going to make a lousy $22M when they re-release it before/with Avengers 4
Im gonna miss the meg chart
I went to see Christopher Robin, everyone was either 18 and older or children. Everyone 18 and older was crying all the time.
I wonder who’s the bigger numbers/charts nerd Dan or Perri? I say that being a numbers nerd myself.
Dear Dan and Roth - leave it up to cocked up studio executives to come up with a Titanic 2.
Roth is the only reason I'm watching the Meg this week
Why are your videos always so quiet? I can barely hear you.
PLEASE DO A CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD COUNTDOWN PLEASE IT'LL MAKE THE WEEKS GO QUICKER :))
Infinity War should have a re release when Infinity war part II arrives. Lots of people should want to see the first, previous the second. Besides, the tickets for the second could be sell out and people can spend time rewatching the first.
RIDE OR DIE ON THE MEG BABY!!!!!$
