This was so incredibly helpful. I felt like I was watching someone who was a master at her craft throughout this whole video. She is such a skilled and creative person. And I'm hoping you all at metal Clays will upload more videos on the future.
I use rings that I get from disturber by the bag full and I use them for the skeletons of my clay rings. And there sturdy don't break😉 thank you for your advice ♡ love you're stuff!
Hi, You can also approach that way but joining, filling and securing seam is a lot more work. Also to get a really secure seam for ring you would have to use much more material. In short it is an simply an alternative approach with much less of learning curve.
@@MetalClays Why would you have to use more material? That doesn’t make any sense. You are actually using more by having to apply these ring caps than would be used if they were eliminated.
@@wendyannh Because it is extremely difficult to apply consistent and even heat with a torch. A ring is a high wear item it is essential to have a complete and even sinter of silver particulates.
Interesting system for rings, I get it makes the bands stronger but they all look like spinner rings with the plain bands on each end. Can this system be adapted and used for spinner rings?
Jenny Clark. you can just get one of those little coffee mug warmer things and it will work. I just use a little heater fan I have. The clay dries out very quickly.
@@gayle8153 Actually I meant the drying that makes it finished. I'm trying to figure out a way to make rings without buying one of those expensive ovens.
@@jennyclark6183 I have a little Beehive kiln and it's perfect for jewelry items from metal clay. I got it from the same site, Cool Tools. Not as expensive as even the small square kilns, and it should be all you need. But metal clay rings should be fired since they are going to be worn on the hand so they need to be stronger than say, or pendants or earrings.
@@jennyclark6183 I just fired a silver metal clay ring this morning in mine. And for silver clay, you don't even need to fire it in coconut fiber inside a firing tin, like you do with bronze and copper.
I have never worked pmc but you can get two part silicone. Mix the two liquids and pour any mold you create then you have a reusable rubber mold. Theres probably more options than this
@@MetalClays thank you so much, I will investigate the particular clays. In your own experience, are the rings brittle like clay/pottery, or strong like metal?

Thank you for your kind feedback :)
Lovely rings. Thank you for sharing the technique..
My life is now complete. I have been looking for a video like this for about 4 weeks! Thanks so much!! 🎉❤❤

Oooo😍you have all the goodies to help us make beautiful rings♡
Just purchased, can't wait to get it and start!
How is it working for you?
So if it's three sizes for standard shrinking without a ceramic shrink stopper I would require a 15 for a proper size 12. Good to know.
Fantastic tutorial!! Thank you!!
is there any way to purchase a ring mold with smaller sizes like 3-5
🙌💓
Do you ship to South Africa?
Good Job . I want to learn it
Why do we need ring cups first place? Why not just leaving the ring after cutting it around the drying mold and then sand it and fire?

Very well done, and very instructive! And what a lovely voice you have!
Do u use a microwave kiln . I would of liked to see the kiln or torch process to see the finished polished product
We do not. I would suggest Googling torch firing method but would never suggest torch firing a ring. Or microwave for that matter.
Ok thanks
@@MetalClays Why would you not torch fire a ring?

Do you use water to “glue” all parts at the ring?
No. Clay and water are mixed to create "paste" and that is used to "glue" pieces together.

I see no reason why not.
I didn’t see cool slip listed in your online store.

Where can I find strength information on the metal clays?
You would have individually investigate each brand and details
@@MetalClays thank you so much, I will investigate the particular clays. In your own experience, are the rings brittle like clay/pottery, or strong like metal?
@@LydellAaron They basically become pure metal. They are not quite as strong as cast jewelry but when properly fired they pure metal.
@@MetalClays so, this isn't clay??
@@Lyddiebits It is clay that when heated to 1600f solidifies to pure 999 silver.
