Yup I'm in USA and my current life goal is to get unsick enough to motorbike across USA on a fuel efficient dual sport or adventure bike...Or even on my motorized bicycle at 35-40 mph at 100mpgs to save $$$....If my monthly income is only $1200 a month. That's still enough for gas/supplies to ride around USA stealth camping & to get a cheap motel off & on....My other dream is a 30ft fixer upper live aboard sail boat ⛵ with an onboard motorized bicycle & a $1200 a month retirement income. Sail up & down the east & west coast. Following the warm weather.

@@michaelbrinks8089 A cruiser is far better and more comfortable for touring than a dual sport or adv bike. And you can carry a lot of stuff on them. I have has a couple of Goldwings, and a few dual sport bikes, but I have mostly ridden cruisers. My very first new bike was a 1980 Suzuki GS450L, a cruiser. I put over 40,000 miles on that bike. I have over 220,000 miles on three different Kawasaki Vulcan 750s, 2 of them bought new.

@@MrMoneyHelper Surprisingly the NC750x gets a real world 65mpgs & a claimed 70 or 75..... The newer Hondas like NX500 & CB500x get like 75 to 80 real world mpgs but are boring. They're like the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord of the motorcycle world....But if u got a good deal on one. It could be good commuter also somewhat light off road capable. If you lived say 50 miles away, round trip from your job & found a good low mile one for $3,000. The bike could literally eventually pay for itself in gas savings. At 80 mpgs vs driving a 20 mpg truck 🚛 every day.....My Yamaha 700 with no 6th gear could only get like 30 mpgs when doing 75 mph on the interstate. My 1200cc Buell wasn't much better at around 40.....The 85 Yamaha xj700 was designed as a middleweight cruiser. But used an inline 4 sportbike engine with 4 inline carburetors. Which didn't make much sense. Since it was a "cruiser" you'd think it'd have a 6th overdrive gear ⚙️ So you could actually "cruise" along at a lower rpm & get decent mpgs..... Instead of the engine constantly screaming at around 7000+ rpm in 5th gear. When you're trying to "cruise" at 75mph.

I've toured on my FZ-07 from Toronto to Nashville and back via the backroads of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Extremely challenging but extremely rewarding. Knowing what I know now, I would have installed Hepco & Becker hard cases, touring windscreen, and LED headlights. Don't forget to bring enough chain cleaner and chain lube. Also bring a portable air inflator so you don't have to get to a gas station to adjust tire pressures.

It's really to each their own you're right, but a touring motorcycle is the only way to go touring cross country, the comfort is unmatched especially when riding two up, with the wind protection, maximum storage, largest tank capacity, it's like riding a Cadillac with no doors lol as you get older the more comfort you need✌️

I love sport touring, any naked bike (I'll add a windscreen) or sport touring bike will do. No need for an all out touring bike, too big and heavy. No all out sport bike, too uncomfortable. No intercom and no music, just pure riding. I'm probably old school by today's standards, but I started riding in 1973 on a Honda CB350. I enjoy the adventure and commradery usually with a buddy or 2 or 3.

"Why Motorcycle Touring Long Distance is BAD" You're crazy. I have been riding on the street for 49 years. Since age 16. I have ridden over a million miles. All over the U.S. and parts of Canada and Mexico. 90% of it has been touring. Alone. Just me, the bike, and the road. No phones, no music, no helmet communicators. I have seen all kinds of places. I used to camp a lot when I was younger. Then I started staying in motels. I don't ride super long distances anymore, due to age and a number of health related issues. But when I do go for a ride, I still just hit the road, and ride until I don't feel like it anymore, and turn around and go back home. I have done some off road riding on dual sport bikes, but I ride the same way. I go exploring. I ride slow and easy, and enjoy what is around me. For me riding is all about relaxing. Getting away from it all. Low effort. Just kick back and cruise, whether it's 20 miles or thousands of miles. I have done a number of Iron Butt SS1000s and BB1500s. I won't be doing any more, due to my age and health. Despite the time limits, it's still straight up riding. I rode on the highway, stopping only for gas. And I did most of it on cruisers. REAL cruisers. The most miles I have ever put on a single make and model of motorcycle was over 220,000, on three different Kawasaki Vulcan 750s. I did learn to avoid any bike with tube type tires, after having a ton of flats, being stranded, and spending a fortune on towing charges and having to have flats repaired by dealers. Just one flat at the wrong time and/or wrong place can cost you over $1000 and 2-3 days when you have tube type tires. The one non cruiser type of bike I have put a lot of miles on is the Honda Goldwing. But it is a bit too much like a car. The whole reason for touring on a motorcycle is to GET AWAY from cars/trucks/vans/any closed in 4 wheeled vehicle. I currently have plans to convert my Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 into a trike. No I don't want a convertible. I don't want to be surrounded by metal, and have a huge windshield in front of me. That's the main reason I gave up on the Goldwings.

  • @MrMoneyHelper
    @MrMoneyHelper 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

I think touring on motorcycles is just uncomfortable. When I travel long distances I prefer using a car. Even riding between cities 75 miles apart seems tedious. I did that for school a few times. That is how I learned that touring wasn't for me. I owned a small car that got 40 mpg. Why ride a motorcycle that got only 54 mpg at best for such a trip. A small car can carry SO MUCH MORE than any motorcycle.
Long ago I rode a 49 CC Honda Metropolitan just over 100 miles on an all day tour with a scooter club. We stopped at many places heading out and then returning home. It was fun, but by five o'clock in the evening I was ready to be home. Even if that ride would have been done on my bigger motorcycle it wouldn't have changed my mind.

I once rode a Honda XR650-L round trip from Wichita to Denver and back. After the first 100 miles or so I hated it. I ran out of gas going into Limon, CO. the gas tank is only good for about 75 miles. I like being able to change positions and stretch out. The wind and the noise really ground me down on the bike. 100 miles or less is great on the bike, any more than that I choose the car.

I actually agree with you but the thing is, you don't have to take the highways! 10 miles on the highways feels like 100 on the back roads. Sometimes its about getting from point a to b and you got to do it, but for the most part I pick the windy back roads when I can and it doesn't feel nearly as long then.

Even riding through bad weather, the endless long stretches, the breakdowns in the middle of nowhere, I love it all! I think for me it's more of a journey vs the destination type of thing. The memories we make along the way and all that.
I really like your approach with the bugout van though, it can give the opportunity of all the other touring things that most people would love without the drudge to get there. The cool thing was, I got better gas mileage with the trailer and my camping gear in it then strapping it to my bike. But mostly, it's a lot better then riding a horse to see the sights. It's a beautiful nation I just wish my wife would get on and go with. She asked why I didn't get a convertible. I asked would she ride in it with the to down? No. Then why buy one? She likes to see the sights but she's a Shorty at 5 feet. I'm over 6. She sees the sights i see the headliner and the road.
Best memory was riding across western Kansas on a 95 degree day with miles of tasseled corn. I can still smell it.
I know, its not for everyone but sometimes ya gotta get off the slab and enjoy side roads.

I seen one guy ride from Michigan to New Mexico on a 50cc 🛵 scooter with his camping gear..... 30mph & 120mpgs one video along the way he was camping out in the Ozarks catching dinner with a fishing pole 🎣..... I'd rather do a trip on a motorcycle but would also be just as happy on a 35 mph motorized bicycle or 🛵....

He *is* scared. That's why the lame excuses and touring and touring bike put down comments. Fear of the unknown preventing exploration and adventure.
Since 2015 I've suggested some touring, but fear disguised as distaste (without actual experience) prevails. Not every man is an adventurer.

C'mon Cruza! 😂 #1. Connect the long distances & destinations via twisty and curvy roads (takes longer but more fun than the interstates) #2. Either camping or hotel stays, ADV or strictly paved, the challenge and adventure makes things fun, less boring and (imo) makes you a more well rounded rider. Impossible to achieve the same in a van (no matter BugOutMoto'd up it is).

@@CycleCruza My ford Econoline 302 V8 van only gets around 13 mpg....A 25ft 350 V8 RV with more room & wet bath gets about 11 mpg..... I'd rather strap a lightweight dual sport on the back of a 25ft RV that I could stay comfortably in long term. But obviously people who already own a van they got a good deal on would use it instead.
Since a 25 ft RV gets 10-11 mpg & my van only gets 13-14 mogs... I'd love to fix up my van & sell or trade for a decent condition, decent mpg RV or box truck to convert into a stealth RV.

I'm on my 3rd Gold Wing and I tow it for my longer trips (700 miles each way) to The smokies. I normally do a week there and to add two additional days on the bike will just wear you out. But for shorter trips I prefer to just ride the wing. I get all kinds of flak for towing a GW, but I'm also towing 4-5 other motorcycles. My limit was 7 bikes including one on the nose of my 2500HD and I still got 15-17 MPG. ;-)

It takes a special breed of person to tour. Longest ride I've ever done was 101 down the coast from Olympia, Wa to Brookings, Or. Beautiful coast line, lots of scenic stops and takes about 8 to 10 hours. It was cool and all but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to wake up the next day and do another 8 to 10 hours and the next dat and the next day. That would probably feel more like a chore at that point. I had 6 day break between going there and back.

Cruza, how tall are you? My idea of a tour is probably around 150 miles out. Haven't ridden a bike in over 50 years. Now I'm wanting to ride again. All I know is that I don't want a sport bike. To old for that. I'm thinking about hyper nakeds. I really like the 2025 honda cb 1000 hornet. If it does come to the US, I'll probably get the SP version. The reason I asked about your height is seeing you on the Mt 07. I'm six - one, so I'm wanting something to be comfortable on

If you haven't rode in 50 years, you have no business on a Hypernaked..... your age group is statistically the second most likely to end up in a serious accident because they think them riding 50 years ago means they have 50 years of experience and wreck because of it. You have been out of the game so long that you do not have the experience you think you do. I promise within a year you're going to be saying "I had to lay her down because someone pulled out in front of me..." which tells everyone who actually knows how to ride, that you never learned how to maneuver the bike.

It's okay IF you have AAA or similar, and/or are aware of your bike's en-route dealer support . No big deal in my experience. I made it to a BMW dealer on 'limp' mode, they got me right in the shop since I was touring, and was on my way in under 2 hours. All that at no charge. AAA wasn't needed, but they did say they would if 'limp' mode quit on me.

Imo, the 2024 and older is better to me. The new mt-07 is still cool but I like the old cable throttle and lack of electronics. However, for a new rider the 2025 might be better, it has rider modes that will help lower the power for a new rider and traction control to help a new rider avoid trouble.
