I am NOT a tire or tyre professional. I do not advise it as safe to drive on any tire where the side wall has been damaged.
This video is to point out the obvious cases where the tire should be replaced and to encourage to have the tire checked in all circumstances.

I think this is sort of how mine looked this morning. I didnt notice the gash. I checked it this evening to determine if I need to take the other car to work tomorrow. The was a 1x1 chunk missing and the wires/braids were exposed. Problem is I will be driving 70-80 mph and about 80 miles total to and from work. Conclusion was "Fuck no!"

How about minor chunck ??? I saw 2 minor chunck in my left front wheel, looks like a bit from huge rat :D
I must ran over something and sliced my tire little bit when I was going four wheel driving through water crossings
Buy the warranty and they just replace it you just have to rebuy the warranty for that tire again .

No offense but have you struggled before going thru a hardship? In 3rd world countries everything is repaired out of necessity. Indeed replacing would be ideal. However this is simply damaged rubber. The skills involved in Combining a Simple techniques and willingness to try go a long way. This is entirely repairable.
Yeah I would throw that tire away if it was just a small neck and there is no courts exposed and no bulge I wouldn’t worry about And it will still go through an MOT
