Seeing retail decay is sad, all those jobs lost and those connections made between retailer and customer, going to a store and buying clothes is always the best, I just wish we could reverse the decline, it would help rebuild broken communities, I fear like the pubs that retail stores are heading the way of the dodo, sadly.
Sad to see. I went to the Aquascutum sale & got some bargains. Then when it turned into a random outlet, I bought a Pyrenex coat from there. As someone that grew up in Hackney even I felt little uneasy walking with bags around there.
Sad to see the place gone. I got a few bargains in the stone island shop. Sadly the same thing is happening all over the country. Soulless places like West Fields are killing the joys of shopping.

Now with the cost of living having gone up since the pandemic and the prices having gone silly on most brands I just can’t afford it at all anymore and I imagine a lot of people are the same. It’s very sad to see. I’m from Manchester and you can relate the same issues with stores that are still opened here. Countless factors come into play but having worked in retail and as a shopper, the big one for me is product range. It’s all very basic, standard stuff you can get in virtually any other store and online. The issue here is people who have no affiliation to the stores are calling the shots on which product goes where. A new Nike store recently opened here and it’s very underwhelming. Not to mention the price points. Why pay full price for a standard Nike tech when it’s on sale at JD. I think this is why the likes of JD and Size are booming due to their exclusive ranges and frequent end of season reductions.
Hackney council spent 100million on this yet with land and build cost its no more than 10 million. What happened to the other 90million? Someone in the council got their retirement
I know this place because I used to frequent this place..it died after covid. I bought some expensive trench coat from aquascutum for dead cheap. Walked in one day the there was a crazy sale. Hackney does have some very expensive housing and rich residents but, those who own a £5m house, for the most part do not shop at outlets. Outlets attract those on a low to middle income.
I think its a myth that rich people pay rrp and poor to mid want outlets 😂 its not because you have wealth that your stupid. Many rich people love a bargain to.
