Jules, you are just too much. London is the most fascinating city in the world. Just got back and had an amazing time. It's the kind of place where a perfect stranger can roam around Hyde Park not even knowing there's a palace on one end. Yes, a palace which was showing a GREAT and UNUSUAL exhibit of Victoria's clothes. That's what is great about London. You will find amazing stuff BY ACCIDENT. Just get out of the tube and walk around. Maybe next time we really will have Indian dinner together.

I don'r reconise the area surrounding Old Street station now . Even the 1960's building I worked in has made way for high rise . I'm glad to see the old shops have been preserved .

So excited to see the Monster Shop! We have a similar thing- Greenwood Space Travel Supply- which fronts a creative writing charity here in Seattle, WA. It has a few branches each with a different theme. So cool to know, thanks!

Hi Joolz, Another great video, you look so smart with your boater and cane, but far too well dressed for the grimy East End. I know they've done regeneration, but it will always be the grimy East End to me. Your blazer and light coloured trousers won't stay clean for five minutes! Love your videos their the best.

You really should have a regular TV spot on BBC. And might I respectfully suggest that you undo the stitching holding your blazer’s vents closed? Love your outfit, love London, love your singing and videos.......cheers mate!

I came home from school one day to discover our bath tub full of live Eels, my old man had bought a load from some bloke where he worked. The Eels were soon processed, potted and flogged to the punters that wanted them. I'll never forget those bloody things in the old tub. nightmare!

Ah, just discovered this channel like a week ago, and I've been binge watching all the videos!
Also, Little Lost Lou's music sounds amazing! I really liked the music in the Jack Ripper video, I will definitely check her out :)

Looove your outfit for this video. (My hubby found your vids and now I am also yours back-to-back.) I would also like to see a video of a compilation of your singing, dancing and recital clips from your walking tour films. :)

This was the best video by far, you should sing more Joolz. Top whistle as well and really enjoyed the bants you had with the cockneys in the pie and mash shop. Great things are done when Joolz and London meet 😃

I'm so glad you went to Cookes pie and mash shop. As a nipper my nan would give me a few bob and I'd go to that very pie and mash shop - and that was around 40 years ago. It has never changed. In fact, after serving in the armed services I came back to england after being overseas for around 20 years and went round all my old haunts. I was very happy to see it still there and the sawdust still on the floor. Many things change...but some do not. However, about a two minute minute walk from there at the rear of the shop on Kingsland Road is Geffrye Museum - my nan lived in Geffrye Court. It is a sign of the times however that the museum has now gone full woke and is full of inaccuracies of what East London was like in olden times....some things change...some do not...

Great video Julzey - these are my favourite type of video that you do, where you immerse yourself in both the history and the 'character' of a pocket of London.
It might be too late to do this year now, but an idea possibly for a future Summer video - a Joolz Summer Holiday Special, visiting one of the standard locations Londoners would have visited for their Summer holidays (Brighton / Blackpool / Southend etc.) come the boom of the railways, to "do the history", a la the London tours, of what thy would have done and what's there now. Stupid idea? ...Maybe.

Hi Joolz , the eels used to be delivered to these premises when they were still alive and kept out at the back of the premises. On rainy days they would often escape and be found wriggling off down Horton Street.
