If all 28 eps had come out last year Frieren would have DEFINITELY won anime of the year, it’s not even a question. I also disagree that jjk has “better” characters . Frierens main good point (there’s a lot of them) is it’s CHARACTER WRITING. Jjk is as wide as an ocean and as deep as a puddle. It’s beautiful to look at but it’s pacing , writing, character writing, and character development are all sub par. Frieren EXCELS at all these points AND has god like animation to boot . I like jjk, but Frieren was industry changing imo. When considering anime of the year you also have to consider how critics in the industry view /respect an ip as well and Frieren also has that respect in spades . I think it’s a safe bet it would have def won anime of the year and I also think it’s a safe bet it will win the next upcoming anime of the year unless something monumental happens as well. And that win will be well deserved
Definitely see where you are coming from, when it comes to the characters jjk has more that I like in general and none of them touch gojo for me. Freiren is so much different than jjk and that was such a breath of fresh air for me and I enjoyed every bit of the season. I definitely think it should have won anime of the year if all the eps came out last year but I feel like the public would not have voted for it over jjk lol
JJK S2 never let's you rest from hype battles. They never seem to fight the same way twice as well too bad mappa is such a dogshit studio I hope those animators get justice Frieren gives you the needed rest to digest everything and the buildup for the more epic fights even if they lose overall to JJk fights. I hope this is a return to Mad House Greatness. The team was something special every chief member was A list talent the director got to build his dream team of animators, story writers, and musicians
Its clears JJK for me. Frieren is some I don't recall ever experiencing before. We've seen a JJK equivalence 100 times, but the fights are hype.
