DW hasn't been so much towing their line as stubbornly reporting and analyzing in the 1980's style and using sensational and misleading headlines. That isn't as much of a problem with other news, and I love some of their reporting - they had very good analyses of the situation in Syria. They're good at explaining complex issues. But they haven't grasped the fast-changing character of the war in Ukraine, so they end up harming it.
Well said. Every time Ukraine is supposed to be on the ropes they seem to very much not and a lot of journalists still do not seem to understand Ukrainian strategy. I saw this coming, as did anyone who really watches for the signs. They have been attacking the Russian supply & command system for months. Rather than use up resources defending every field, they hold with as minimal force as possible while building a reserve. Russians by comparison constantly attack everywhere which wastes their combat power, and they then draw from new recruits for big offensives which usually fail.
The question is: what will this ultimately achieve? Russia will just take it back. It's not like as soon as Trump comes into office then suddenly the negotiations will start. And Russia is not in a rush to negotiate since they know the reality on the ground and the balance of power is vastly in their favour. I guess the only purpose it serves is as a PR exercise which this channel is more than happy to lap up. The sad thing is that many more Ukrainians will die than if they hadn't gone on this offensive and this will ultimately achieve nothing
the only thing makes me sad and angry is the fact that the westen help has take such a long time and even people ignore today the real nature of stalutin

The Soviets new about Operation Citadel (the German Kursk offensive) from their Lucy spy ring in Switzerland, but got it confirmed by their double agent John Cairncross, who worked at Bletchley Park, which also had information on the coming operation, and Cairncross passed the information on to Stalin. I don't think Bletchley Park themselves willingly gave the Soviets the information.
