Hi my #faMELy, I hope you find my story and review helpful. Do comment and let me know if you own a Cartier piece and your experience. Thanks for watching! Xo Mel
I have the yellow n wht gold LOVE, they’re different models. My yellow NEVER lost a screw but my wht...for 8yrs back n forth at the boutique. 😭 Finally last yr Cartier decided to send the bracelet to Paris to remake using the same faulty bracelet. 🤔 Hopefully the screws don’t fall off...again. 🤞🏻my hubby banned me from shopping there but I still got the thin JUC. 😊 thanks for sharing my lady! ❤️😘😘😘Sandy
Mel in Melbourne I have heard that your problem with the bracelet is because you wear it with another bracelet. Two bracelets banging each other over the time can cause this problem.
Mel in Melbourne I have three of them. All of them have the new screw system. The first two I bought were perfect. No problems. The last one has been a nightmare. Falls off all the time. Thankfully I’ve found it each time. I never take them off. They replaced it. Had a great experience at Cartier every time. I’ve heard of locktite, I’m the same. I don’t want to put any substance like that on my bracelets.
Tiffany and Company’s jewelry is really pretty some other items on the higher side others are not as much but Tiffany would be a good alternative if you can’t afford Cartier JS
Ha ha I agree with you :( We are so poor! Where do these women find good rich husbands who are prepared to buy expensive goods I can't find a boyfriend who would buy me a burger for my birthday without moaning how much he spent! I attract dumb. Stingy men :(
It's ridiculous isn't , but people buy into it. I've got one done in 14k gold, from a regular jeweller near where i live, it's "cartier inspired" , very similar design but the closing mechanism is different, and i prefer that , as it's impossible to lose it. It's was a thousand... but hey, it's gold and you pay for it. In the case of cartier you pay for the name , mainly.
Hi Mel I’m so shocked you need to regularly baby and glue it !! We pay so much for it and I always feel like we should not have to keep servicing it and lux should be for enjoyment! I have the open cuff as I prefer to rotate my bracelets and take them off at night. No problems on my open cuff but interesting to know about the screw issue.
I work in aeronautics and we use loctite on our parts... so to me, even if it does the job and help with your screws, it shouldn't be used on a gold bracelet. i would prefer to not have one rather than using loctite on it.
Hi Mel! I had a similar situation, I bought my Cartier Love Bracelet in Switzerland and I was flying all around Europe. My last stop was Paris and while shopping I felt the Screws Move after just 3 weeks of traveling . I instantly went to the Cartier in Paris and they actually call it “Watch Makers Glue” I believe it’s a similar to what your referencing, but after putting the watch makers glue in the Cartier Boutique I have had no problems! I hope this helps everyone!
I’m wearing the vintage love bracelet, handed down from my grandma and then my mother. So it’s a good 40 something year old bracelet. Worn it for 10 years, only took it off a couple of times within that period. Never had any problem with the screws, there’s even one time i couldnt take it off haha! So my conclusion is, the vintage screw system might be more annoying but it’s much more secure. Especially if you dont take it off often, won’t have to worry about losing the screws. Love your review!
Loctite as mentioned by someone else is a threadlocker, not superglue, there are different strengths, when I first started as a Mechanical Engineer at my current job, we used Loctite on very fine screws for our high precision instruments, and it helped preventing the fine screws loosening over time due to vibration, and you can still remove the screws without any damage to anything. I have no issues using it on my love bracelet. Love your very informative videos, Thank you Mel!
I work in aerospace, and we use loctite in aircraft parts. We classify it as adhesive in our industry. This is hilarious! My mind boggles at using loctite on a Cartier.
I would not mind the scratches, but the thought of having it permanently attached would put me off! I am glad Cartier fixed it for you. Thank you for the video!
Thank you for saving me over 6K. I’ve been saving my money for a Cartier bracelet but after hearing your cons, that would bother me a lot. I probably just get the love ring.
If you have to worry about the bracelet all the time, it’s not worth to purchase. And the fact that you can’t take it off without another person’s help, it’s a pain for me. I will buy a Birkin or Kelly instead! Thanks for sharing Mel 😘
Thanks Mel. Very helpful! Been wanting this bracelet but was concern with the falling apart. Won’t buy. Too much money to lose. But such a beautiful piece.
I can’t believe they suggested putting superglue on your 6k+ bracelet!!! Tiffany told me to use clear nail polish on their silver key chains to make the screw part stick. Do not put super glue on your bracelet! Omg!
OMG 20 years ago Tiffany's told me the same thing with one of their key rings that came apart (to put superglue)...they are crazy. I returned it and never shopped there again. Ridiculous.
I can't even imagine paying 14k for something knowing that it can break at any moment or be told to put super glue on it to fix it???? Hello...it's thousands of dollars you claimed you paid for "quality". Bunch of crap...it's simply paying $$$ for a brands name.
I can assure you that no one at Cartier told her to put Super Glue on her bracelet. Loctite is a threadlocker, which is a liquid that expands to fill in the spaces between the screw and the “bolt” part of the bracelet. Loctite 222, the jeweler’s strength, is perfectly safe to use on a Love bracelet. It will not damage or discolor the gold. If you put a screw in anything that is not staying still, the screw needs to either have grease or Loctite put on it to keep the screw in place without it seizing up.
I’ve taken mine off about 3 times and I thought it was just my love bracelet. I could literally feel it getting looser and looser on my wrist and find myself constantly screwing the screw and eventually would use my own fingernail to tighten it. I was walking out to my car and I heard a clang and almost died when i seen it on the ground!!! And that’s why I’m here browsing on what to do with loose screws and landed on your channel.
I purchased the Cartier love cuff because I did not want the bracelet on all the time and my SA told me if I took the bracelet off and on, it could strip the screw threading .I have used loctite on bolts on my motorcycle because the bike vibrates and could loose up. Awesome you received a new bracelet, it sure sounds like you other diffidently had a issue.
mary draper can you tell us how the cuff’s doing so far? Does it come off or get stuck to clothes and sweaters? Is it sturdy enough? Does it still have its original shape? Sorry I’ve have asked too many questions. I’m planning to buy the cuff myself.
Mine has been sitting in the box for the last 7 months or so now...I am so annoyed that I cannot wear it because it has come off twice now. Once at work and once at home when I just put it on. I literally thought that I had a dud and have taken it back twice now. I am so sad that this have happened and I have only had it for 2yrs. I might return and ask for a new one because this is ridiculous...I am not going to use a glue on my bracelet and they didn't tell me about a "lock tight". Unlike you Mel, I do have regret and I wouldn't actually buy it again. Another thing that annoys me is the amount of scratches mine have...but then again I bought a white one...so that's on me. On the other hand, I love my love ring and my trinity ring. My husband's lost his trinity ring...went back to Cartier to buy a new one and they have given it to us on a discounted price. I must say that their customer service is one of the best one.
Hi, everyone, my tradie husband tells me that loctite is definitely NOT superglue. It is a compound that dries in the absence of oxygen, so if you put a drop on the thread of the screw and do it up, the air is squeezed out and the compound dries and hardens. In Australia, it comes in blue and red. Blue is semi-permanent and red is permanent. The only way to undo a screw with red loctite is to heat it up and really force the screw until it undoes. In his opinion, you wouldn't want to apply the blue one either. It is "reversible" but not intended to be done up and undone repeatedly. You still have to force the screwdriver to crack the seal, which could easily scratch the top of the screw. Also, it leaves dried residue on the thread and this would have to be scraped off each time so that you could apply the new loctite. It's not designed to be used on a part that frequently gets removed. Particularly not a precious object!
The screws are made of gold and are therefore softer than say, your standard hardware screws. Since you wear the bracelet everyday, daily wear results in tiny vibrations which can cause the screws to loosen. They recommend to simply tighten the screws each day for a few weeks. It sounds super gross but the it's the accumulated fluff that helps to secure the screws. If you overtighten then of course it will damage the bracelet. Loctite helps prevent the screws from moving and only a very small amount is used to help secure the screws. It is definitely a finicky bracelet due to the design but it is up to the customer to decide whether it is worth the effort.
I haven’t had issues with my love screws but have heard of this problem before. It could be a faulty screw or it could be bc you wear the love next to your other bangle. A heavy bangle that knocks into the love will unwind the screws. This is why people with multiple loves use loctite. There are different kinds of loctite. The one Cartier uses is the least adhesive so you don’t have to worry about it damaging the bracelet. It’s regularly used by jewelers. It hasn’t been long since you’ve had your love but my issue is that it gets stuck around my arm at night and during the day at work. I am certain it is contributing to a carpel tunnel like situation and I know I’m not the only one who has felt this way. In hind sight I don’t think this bangle is for me. It’s beautiful but too many issues come with it. Also if you were ever to break or sprain your arm and didn’t have the screw it’d be a nightmare!
Thanks Mel for this great update. I adore my love bracelet too and love the whole concept behind it. I have not heard of the Lock tite option. Like you I am not sure I would go down that path but good to know it is an option. I think the scratches only prove that it is loved and worn with pride so a non issue for me too. I also wear mine on my non dominant hand. I am thrilled you have been given a replacement bracelet. x
My SA used it for my love bracelet. She told me that her client actually lost her bracelet. I don’t think there is anything wrong with using it. I don’t even see this glue. It lasts for a few months and you can go back to Cartier and ask them to do it for you again. It’s totally fine.
Thank you for all the information it’s very nice of you to be so transparent and it’s very helpful to everyone in the community. I’m glad there is a happy ending to your story
Hi Mel, I have had the love bracelet for about 9 years, and it has not dropped off, thankfully. I just heard about the “glue” a few days ago. And the 2 friends I was with at that time, both had theirs “glued”. So I guess it is not that uncommon. If I may add another tip to minimise scratches, stick a small piece of scotch tape over the screw driver. It helps prevent accidentally scratching the bracelet when putting it on or removing it.
In with you on the loctite Mel. That’s not something I would consider at all. Glad you are not having problems with your new one though!! I haven’t had that issue yet with either of mine. Praying it stays that way 🙏🙈💆♀️❤️
I have the plain white gold love bracelet with the newer system and I’ve honestly never had any issues with it falling off. I have had it for multiple months now and I have never taken it off. I will say that the Juste un Clou does fall off! If you are considering buying it, it will sometimes fly off if you are doing any bigger movements- which is absolutely annoying. But as for the love, I’ve never had any problems.
Imen B Its the thicker bracelet with the “newer” version. It’s not actually new, but it’s the latest screw system. Mel mentioned it in her video- it’s where the screws are attached to the two sides so they do not fall out and get lost!
Loctite is it glue. This is a thicker version a super glue and holds a lot stronger. It's usually a clear gel formula. Most of the time you use it for fixing things like if you've got a broken vase or cup handle that broke off. You use that to fix the piece or pieces that are broken. You could put Loctite on the bracelet but then you'd never be able to get the thing off and it's not worth it. Especially if you have doctor's appointments are certain things to where you can't wear any jewelry and you have to take it off you won't be able to
Donna boyd Loctite is a brand. They make super glues and threadlockers amongst other things. Loctite thread locker is blue or red depending on the strength. This is not superglue.
Hi Mel! I am binge watching Cartier videos and came across this one of yours. Omg. The same thing happened to my bracelet when I got it new from the store!! Screws were loose. Service is not as impressive here in the Philippines but they took it in for “service” to take a look at it. I was not told anything else but I did notice the screws improved after the service. I was told nothing was wrong with it. I was not offered a new one. But I have since had no problems with it anymore. I wore it for months straight. I still highly recommend buying this. Such a beautiful classic. But just be aware of this.
fantastic review....thanks for sharing this...i was thinking of getting one soon but now i may look at the cuff...i love your mil's bracelet...stunning!!
It's always so awesome hearing an Aussie accent on TH-cam. I'm up in Brissy now but when you mentioned Chaddy (Chadstone) I was like "aaaaaaayeee!" lol. It's so hard to find reviews of things on TH-cam from Aussies with names that you know. So awesome to see you. And thanks for review - I love the idea of the love bracelet and was planning to get one, but now I'm thinking "just a nail" might be more for me. I'd be mortified to look down and see it gone. It would be like looking down and something like a JLC Reverso just vanished - heart broken. Sweet info on pros and cons. Thank you. :)
Always insist that they send it to Paris for “fixing” , I got 3 love bracelets and every single one has that problem. It’s so annoying. Even though you got a new one, give it time, it will fall off again...I have the “new” screw system as yours. No I never heard of that glue
hmmmm. I have fine jewellery from my great grandmother. It's still perfect. I'm really a little turned off by these big name brands. For the price, you can expect flawless quality. reading some of the comments here - that's really not what they deliver if one is completely honest. Same with Chanel and LV - their 21st century bags are NOT what they used to be in the 80s, 90s and of course the decades before that.
I couldn't agree more with you. It's just a silly designer name brand and people pay an arm and a leg and are basically getting costume jewelry. 14k for a gold bracelet that requires tons of regular maintenance? No thanks.
I own 2 with the newer screws. I also had the same issue. They replaced the screw and issues continued so they replaced the bracelets. Since then, I've had no issue at all and have been wearing them for 2 yrs continuously. You can't take the bracelet off, not once a week, once a month, or sporadically because if you do, the screws will loosen. They bracelet is not meant to be taken off. Unfortunate, that means you have to be ok with wearing it all the time. I love bracelets, so when I want to wear different bracelets based on my outfits, I wear it on my opposite wrists that I wear the love bracelets. Unfortunately, that's the only options otherwise be prepared for issues...or purchase the new thin ones instead since it's meant to be removed. Hope that helps! Continue to enjoy your beautiful bracelets. :)
Hi Mel. I read somewhere that 2 bracelets hitting each other may loosen the screws. Of course it should not happen. Why didn’t you get a 17 inch to be the same size as your mother in laws bracelet?
It's a nice idea but it's a really strong gel formula super glue and if you got to take it off for a doctor's appointment say getting an MRI done when you're not allowed to have any jewelry on you won't be able to get it off.
Donna boyd you can still get if off, I am using it too on my aquarium to glue my corals, if you unscrew it will crack and that’s it. Use the gel type it’s easier to clean off if one day you decided you don’t like it anymore.
Loctite is not a traditional glue. It’s a lightweight adhesive primarily for keeping screws from loosening with repetitive motions. Perfect for a scenario such as this. It’s removable too, so if you don’t like it you can take it off. :))
I have two love bracelets and I use loctite in both of mine because when they would bump into one another they would knock the screws loose and I didn’t want to risk one of them falling off
I am so happy that you have such a great SA at Cartier and that you were able to get your LOVE bracelet replaced. ❤️ I think it is sooo beautiful as is the gorgeous bracelet passed down from your mother-n-law!!💖 I hope you have a wonderful weekend and happy March my sweet Mel!😍
Similar happened to me. I was wearing it for a while and one day I realized it’s not on my wrist. I found one half in my car and another half on my driveway! I was lucky that I realized I was missing it right away! To be completely honest, I didn’t tighten it for a long time. No problems since then, but now I’m checking almost every day!
Rolex and other luxury watch brands also use Loctite. Great review Mel. I have to laugh at people who say “Could have gone on holiday and five stars hotel for that money blah blah” what the hell are they here watching a review on an item that they CANNOT afford and then verbally bash people who can and make fun of people who have them. Good on you Mel. I cannot afford it but I love it.
I’ve had mine for three years and thankfully I’ve never had any problems... The screws have never loosened, I’ve never ever had the bangle of since the SA put it on my wrist... Travelling with the bangle on my wrist has never been issue, on the rare occasion I’m asked to remove it I simply tell them it doesn’t come off and they simply scan me ... I love the bangle, I now feel it’s part of me .. xxx
Same for me! Mine never loosened, and i never had real trouble traveling with it. Yes, it does ring when I cross the metal detecter, but when they see it's just a bracelet, they just let me go through.
Very informative video Mel! Thank you for sharing with us your story! Love how you have a loose braided on the side! You look so beautiful as always my Dear!
Oh no Mel! I’m so sorry! I’m glad that you’re still enjoying Cartier but you really shouldn’t have had to experience anything like that with a luxury piece 😕
My story with the Cartier Love items and the customer service was not pleasant at all. I own several Love rings. One of them is the version with multicolored gem stones - after having my ring for 3-4 months, one gem stone fell out. No, I had no accident with it whatsoever. It just was gone. I went to the Cartier store in my city expecting them to stand behind their brand & products and repairing it for free, as I knew it was definitely NOT my fault. Result: The lady examined the ring and said, I have to pay a 4th/5th of the ring's initial price to get a new gem stone set into the ring, because, NO, they do not repair their jewelry just like that. I was FURIOUS. And decided that there's no way I would reinvest in an item I was so careful with, when clearly the gemstones were poorly set. I left the store. 3 weeks later (again, no incident/accident whatsoever on my part), another gem stone fell out. There you have it. Cartier. Poorly crafted. So, I advised all my girlfriends NOT to buy the ring / bracelet in the multicolor gemstone version. Those stones, as I learned later from different forums online, do tend to be poorly set and fall out. Grrrrrrr....
I've heard of glue from the blogs. Really suspicious that one has to use that for expensive bracelets. However, this screw system is no 100% secure due to design, tempature drops, vibrations etc..I will get an JUC and deal with the old lock vs new lock drama.
Came across your channel yesterday and enjoyed watching you shop. I like the Alhambra Carnelian & blue VCP Bracelets. Love, love, jewelries but can’t afford the luxury of spending so much money on brand name jewelries and be afraid of losing/falling apart😱 You are truly Blessed to enjoy the luxuries of life. God Bless You and your family🙏. Thanks for sharing!
Wow - I wouldn't want all that maintenance after paying $14,000 for a bracelet! I have been thinking about the standard Love Bracelet for a while but just have not pulled the trigger. The thought of not being able to put it on and take it off I think is what turns me off. I've been looking at the Van Cleef Perlee instead.
My mom owns 2 love bracelets. 1 plain gold and 1 pink gold with the gems. The one with the gems sometimes comes off too. It’s lose. I own the plain one in pink gold and I’ve had it for 6 years and I don’t have any problems with it at all. Idk if it’s a thing with diamonds or gems?! I’m glad you got this taken cared of. Lovely video and gorgeous bracelet.
I bought mine 20 days ago while on vacation. It’s fallen 3 times. I can’t wear it now because the screw went missing last time it dropped. It was put on initially in the boutique, by a Cartier rep. Cartier is not helping out, so I had to get my credit card issuer involved. We’ve purchased over 10 pieces from them, and beyond upset at their lack of care.
Sorry you had this issue. Nothing worse than having an expensive piece of jewelry that you have to worry about wearing. The stress of constantly having to check and see if it’s on makes it not worth wearing . The locktite solution does seems extreme for a fine piece of jewelry . Hope your new one is worry free . Blessings and Peace 🙏🏻
Bought my Love bangle and had loctite on from Day 1 more than a year back. No issues. Don’t even notice it and I’m with you on keeping it on full time. Mine is on 24/7. Love from Singapore! 😊
Never heard of the glue thing. My one, I didn’t even re-screw it at the beginning as you were told. It got loosened after at least half a year. Then I felt it as it clicked when it’s loosened. Now it’s just loosened every couple of months. I simple rescrew it when I felt it loosened. Nothing drama
I am thinking of getting one but also concern about it on whether it is a good idea for me to invest on it. - my cons are: i can't put it on by myself. - I have to wear it all the time and can't take it off myself. - the screw gets loose over time, especially it is opened and closed too often. - it scratches very easily. -- but i do like that it can be worn regularly and it is not very flashy. it is classic and timeless. It stacks well with JUC and other things you mentioned. I know i will be very grateful to have it in my collection.
I have the “new” screw system. And yes I have had the same issues. Like you said Cartier was amazing in handling the issue, but the issues happened all the same. No regrets, but I’m still worried it will fall off. I know people that glue. And I personally don’t, but it will keep it on.
Lol you spent $14,000 and u have to keep screwing the screw in? And you have to super glue it? Oh my god! Lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Please refund it! Cause if it’s a luxury items you should not need to do extra thing such as keep screwing it and glueing it to keep it in lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
i had Cartier love bangle since 2015, never happened. But someone is having the same issues, maybe two bangle together hit each other to make it loose?
Thank you for making such an informative video Mel! I love to wear my jewellery 24/7. Love bracelet is never within my price range, and this video just confirmed that I'm not suitable for such high maintenance jewellery.
Mine is the new lock system and have had it for 6 years. I took it off only once to clean. Never had any issue of it falling ever. I don’t think I ever tighten it after putting it on. It’s very low maintenance in my opinion.
I have the old version and a new version which is the same as your live bracelet. The old version is with me for 8 yrs and the new version is with me just a few days. Thank you for all the helpful info.
Great video Mel. Very informative. I am considering purchasing a love bracelet. As for the loctite for the screw... I’ve had this happen to me. My Rolex watch fell off of my wrist in an Airport once. The bracelet came away from the watch. When I took it to a Rolex dealer to repair it, they too used loctite to secure it. No problems since 👍😊
Thanks for honest review and pros/cons. Is it still insured by insurance companies? Knowing it can get lost so easily. I wonder about it. Do you know from your experience? Thank you.
It sounds quite scary, bothe, that it opens and fall, and the need of glue to secure it. Can you update is what happens since this review? Still no issues? I would love to hear. Thank you.
I have worn mine for 6 years, I never had it fallen off but I have had the really loose issue you mention. I take the screwdriver and each week, tighten up the screws. Or sometimes, if I feel it's loosening you can hear the 2 pieces "clink" when you hold the bracelet together with your other hand. I wear it all the time but when I travel on the plane, I like to take it off so it's easier to go through Security. Then I put it back on myself when I'm on the plane or at the destination. I would avoid doing any kind of glueing with the locktite. One time I had to go be on a machine at the hospital to get scanned and I needed to not have an metal on me. You need to be able to take off the bracelet. If you are near a Cartier place, have them really clean it, put it on and tighten it for you. My husband didn't tighten it well enough for me and I had the issue you had where it was loose every couple of days. I try to get it cleaned at Cartier after the summer when I have been sweaty, at the pool, etc.
I had two; one fell off. That was a tragic day. They were different sizes: 25grams and 12grams. The 25 is two halves coming together, and I’ll try the glue to ease the anxiety I have at the thought of wearing it. The little one with one hinge will hopefully be turned in to the lost and found at the hospital where I was when it fell off. Fingers crossed. Love, from Seattle and thank you for your thoughts on the subject
This has made me think twice about getting one. My plan was to put it on and never take it off. I have an active lifestyle - i run three or four times per week, gym, swim, going to work, getting about town, like we all do. This has made me worry that it just wouldn't work? Gosh - can you imagine if you lost it on a treadmill and you didn't hear it clang because you were listening to music...?!
I have three Love bracelets, white, yellow, and pink gold, that I wear on my left wrist as a stack. I never take them off. They are the old style, where each half has a metal tongue with a hole on one end, and a slot on the other end, and you screw the two halves together with a separate screw that is not attached. Over the years, I have had to have each bracelet repaired by Cartier because the constant clanking of the bracelets against each other, resting my wrist against hard surfaces, sleeping on my arm, etc. have caused the metal to fatigue slightly and the screws to loosen in the holes. When I was in NYC last year I actually lost a screw and found the bracelet hanging on by the remaining screw. Each time, it's like Cartier has to rebuild the tongue parts and when I get it back, the bracelet is like brand new, but I'm about $400 out of pocket. I've done this twice for each bracelet. It's getting a little tiring to constantly have to check to see that I don't have any screws loose... I'm thinking about retiring them and getting the Ecrou de Cartier, as that has a more secure fastening system.
Thanks for sharing your story Mel and am happy to hear Cartier stepped up and offered the replacement. I’ve had my LᎾVE (plain no diamonds, "new" screw system) for 7 years now and though i don’t wear it daily, when i do wear it i have it on for weeks-months straight. So far, fingers crossed, it’s never fallen off. But the screws do get slightly looser over time. I actually put on/take off all by myself - clockwise to lock, anticlockwise to unlock. and NO WAY will i use some glue on fine jewelry, sorry! Haha. ♥️
I can't believe that is loosening that easy. I have two on my right wrist which is my dominant hand, I do everything with my right hand and mine never loose. I have them for like 6 years I think and since the moment I put them I never took them off. Now they are stuck on me, I cant even unscrew them but I don't really care because I don't plan to take them off. They are part of my wrist now and I can't imagine my hand without them
In the jewelry industry We use loctite for all kinds of precious metal jewelry repair. It works like a polymer resin epoxy. 18k is soft, and the threading on the screw and in the bracelet can move out of shape, once they do it’s best to replace the piece. The screws cannot be rethreaded. It’s just engineering...so think about what happens if the piece torques out of shape...the screws won’t tighten then either. If you shake the bracelet and it wiggles....get it into repair, they are made to be tightened basically ONCE, and if you overtighten it, you can strip the threading.
I have the slim version of the love bracelet and I’ve had it on for almost a year and it’s never fallen off or had a problem. The slim version has the screw on one side only, the other side is a hinge, so putting it on and taking it off has never been an issue and is very easy. I think the slim version definitely has a more modern and easier to use design than the regular version. I have very skinny wrists (in between a 16 and 17 size for cartier) and I actually find the slim version looks more dainty and modern on my wrists too compared to the full size.
I’ve been considering one but I can’t wear jewellery at work so I purchased the small love bracelet so I could remove it easily but I still reallyyy want the original. This video is very informative, I have heard about the glue also. I have a video up on my channel all about the small version but I still would loveee the original 😅
Loctite is an adhesive, you cure it with a blue uv light and it hardens in place. Ive worked in medical assembly and have used Loctite to help make certain products, these products go to patients.
Locktite is fairly common in both jewellery and watches especially. I’m in the industry myself and we always use a small amount of locktite on Rolex link screws for example. A little goes a long was and it definitely isn’t a bad thing as all :)
Hi my #faMELy, I hope you find my story and review helpful. Do comment and let me know if you own a Cartier piece and your experience. Thanks for watching! Xo Mel
Mel in Melbourne wow
I’d be furious.. for 14k or even half that I wouldn’t tolerate such a faulty system
May i know your bracelet from your mother in law the name and brand? I more like it that models rather than love cartier bracelet.
for a bracelet that costs so much, i'd rather go for something less high-maintenance.
Harro Bye agree
I would be mad as hell.
Tiffany and Company’s jewelry is really pretty some other items on the higher side others are not as much but Tiffany would be a good alternative if you can’t afford Cartier JS
Why am I watching this when I have like £22 in my bank account
Ha ha I agree with you :( We are so poor! Where do these women find good rich husbands who are prepared to buy expensive goods I can't find a boyfriend who would buy me a burger for my birthday without moaning how much he spent! I attract dumb. Stingy men :(
Susan Jones 🤣🤣🤣
Susan Jones why should men have to pay for everything in a relationship?
Susan Jones Same
You're so funny 😂😂
$14,000 bracelet that you have to use glue to keep it together. Nice.
Plus it scratches so easily! Her bracelet is full of scratches :(
They are laughing all the way to the bank.

Hi you spent so much money so I would expect that product should be absolutely 100% secure and value for money.
Other people: *buys a 14000 cartier bracelet
Me: *feeling rich by having Pandora items
You are so proud, I love your mind set.
Pandora is a great brand! Price range is aligned with the actual cost of the items, their designs are cute, modern, and change with time.
I’m planning to have one, but after I see you video, I won’t buy it. Thank for your sharing
There is most likely damage overtime, and why use some sort of glue on a 14,000$ bracelet? That's is ridiculous.
Man, for 14 grand, I would expect way better design that I didn’t have to keep tightening the screws all the time.
Your mom in law bracelet is more beautiful and worth it...looks so elegant!
I agree!!! I would rather have the one she inherited.
I would like to see more info on her MIL bracelet! Where was it purchased? Love it!!
@@madeinmichiganinthe60s59 AND ME :)
Got same problem, I end up changed to the cuff, it’s easier for taking care of and still look the same as bracelet!
I agree with you. $14,000 for a bracelet then it should not fall off and not have to put glue on it.
It's a bad design if gule is needed, time for a refund
Thank you for saving me over 6K. I’ve been saving my money for a Cartier bracelet but after hearing your cons, that would bother me a lot. I probably just get the love ring.
Same here! I wonder if the cuff version or thinner version with a different closure is better
Lien Nguyen get the thin love bracelet or the love cuff.
People pay 14k for a bracelet that needs to be glued?
Ridiculous.
Liza petty Cartier apparently use plastic holders inside their watches to hold the movement of the watch, Shame on them.
It's 14k she said
I can't even imagine paying 14k for something knowing that it can break at any moment or be told to put super glue on it to fix it????
May I ask why do the have you screw it on almost daily when you first start using it? Wouldn’t that add to the problem?
I am thrilled you have been given a replacement bracelet. x
Loctite is glue and you can find that anywhere. I wouldn't put that on such an expensive piece of jewelry.
FANTASTIC REVIEW MEL !! Im looking at getting 2 to stack and this was so informative.
Laura Lim have you ever taken yours off?
Tameka Simmons Hi
Yes I have, several times.
Great video Mel- so informative! Was thinking of getting one, but now im in two minds about it.Will wait & see:)
Sorry what do you mean when you say newer system ? Do you mean the thin bracelet or just that the thicker version has a newer system ?
Imagine having $14000 to spend on a bracelet.
That much money would literally change my life.
Jessica C why not to get a refund ? Saying you don’t want to put up with it ?
Mark Rutherford
It’s not that easy to get a refund from Cartier. :/
I think the old model with the old screw system, which I have, is better.
Andy well, if it’s faulty and you don’t want to put up with loosing a bracelet of 14 grand, then people should try.
I think Cartier has a sign that says no cash refunds.
No thanks.
Yes I do prefer vintage pieces...
That $14k could've gone to a five star hotel and holiday in Hawaii or USA.
but once the vacay its over, it's all gone. The bracelet holds its value at least.
Cherry Tung nah. Holidays have more value than a fcking cartier bracelet.
@@martylovellmusic. with enough money, why not do both?
Cherry Tung do both but dont complain when youre suddenly out of money 😂
@@martylovellmusic. nah, never complain. Just hustle! :D
Hi Mel. I read somewhere that 2 bracelets hitting each other may loosen the screws. Of course it should not happen. Why didn’t you get a 17 inch to be the same size as your mother in laws bracelet?
Highly recommend Loctite. They did that for both of my LOVE bracelets. I've had mine for over a year and no issues.
It's a nice idea but it's a really strong gel formula super glue and if you got to take it off for a doctor's appointment say getting an MRI done when you're not allowed to have any jewelry on you won't be able to get it off.
i prefer uhu glue, loctite works like crazy glue it cristalize. uhu work like elmers gel glue but waterproof and it cost a dollar
Donna boyd you can still get if off, I am using it too on my aquarium to glue my corals, if you unscrew it will crack and that’s it. Use the gel type it’s easier to clean off if one day you decided you don’t like it anymore.
It depends on the type of locktight
Loctite is not a traditional glue. It’s a lightweight adhesive primarily for keeping screws from loosening with repetitive motions. Perfect for a scenario such as this. It’s removable too, so if you don’t like it you can take it off. :))
I have two love bracelets and I use loctite in both of mine because when they would bump into one another they would knock the screws loose and I didn’t want to risk one of them falling off
I am planning to purchase the love bracelet and your review helped me a lot! Thanks a lot for your honest one!! :) xxx
Omg that's a nightmare!! I'd be so angry and unset if that happened to mine!
Would that interfere with any warranty on the bracelet?
That’s so weird they recommended loctite because that’s a glue that mining supply company’s use. More of an industrial thing?
Sorry you had this issue. Nothing worse than having an expensive piece of jewelry that you have to worry about wearing. The stress of constantly having to check and see if it’s on makes it not worth wearing . The locktite solution does seems extreme for a fine piece of jewelry . Hope your new one is worry free .
Blessings and Peace 🙏🏻
We use loctite daily for small screws in the manufacturing of parts. Its recommended for this type of use.
Bought my Love bangle and had loctite on from Day 1 more than a year back. No issues. Don’t even notice it and I’m with you on keeping it on full time. Mine is on 24/7. Love from Singapore! 😊
Mel. Would u buy from Chaumet? Do you like the brand?
I have a plain YG one with the new screw system. I’ve had it for almost 6 years. I can go a year without haven’t to tighten the screws. 🤷🏻♀️
Thanks for sharing, Mel. Apparently, Tiffany does not seems to have such a problem. It is just not worth for a 14k bracelet.
I have the “new” screw system. And yes I have had the same issues. Like you said Cartier was amazing in handling the issue, but the issues happened all the same. No regrets, but I’m still worried it will fall off. I know people that glue. And I personally don’t, but it will keep it on.
Jewelers also put locktite in the screws in Rolex bracelets. It surprised me, too, but turns out it's common.
Lol you spent $14,000 and u have to keep screwing the screw in? And you have to super glue it? Oh my god!
Lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Please refund it! Cause if it’s a luxury items you should not need to do extra thing such as keep screwing it and glueing it to keep it in lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Echoj Olan you can’t return past 30 days
My mom has one and I honestly don’t think I will ever wear something that I can’t put on by myself 😂
The best informative Love bracelet video I’ve seen.
Thanks ❤️
i had Cartier love bangle since 2015, never happened.
Love your top💕looks amazing on you✨
Mine is the new lock system and have had it for 6 years.
Thank you.
thorough and informative - nice one Mel!!!
I try to get it cleaned at Cartier after the summer when I have been sweaty, at the pool, etc.
i love your videos, so informative and fun to watch !
Same here😂
Loctite is an adhesive, you cure it with a blue uv light and it hardens in place.
