Maybe Jacob really wants to have a dad, and because of that goes along with his plan. Or the dad is really manipulative.
Why do I have a feeling that Jacob's been brainwashed by his dad? Anyway it's good to have finally come clean to Dumbledore about the MC's dad being the leader of R, hopefully Dumbledore would be able to do something.

So... if Rakepick took those memories... how was the Pensieve able to access them? It would've been the altered memories we saw, like what happened to Slughorn in the Half Blood Prince about Voldemort.

At 18:40. I got a third option of "were dating" for dating, being nice and keeping her in circle. Was gonna pick "your most powerful" but if merula can use our relationship for bargaining so can I.

I think either the dad or the aunt is pretending to be her brother
Maybe the mom is the leader of R. And she used mind control on peregrine and Jacob. That's how Jacob knew of the vaults in school and getting trapped was part of the plan. Rakepick going Rouge just don't sound right she was terrified of R in Azkaban. Or that rakepick was trying to stop R the whole time and that's why she took the memories and left Jacob in the vault.
Other theory Ben is somehow involved. Complete change in 5th year and why did rakepick want him dead out of anyone. 🤔
there is some reason in your comment but we must take into account that merula... is... innocent although we should not trust her completely on the other hand I think that peregrine is manipulating jacob to be the next leader of R or maybe all this time was planned by someone else apart from peregrine and that someone else I mean mc's mother who some players including me suspect is the true leader of R

And that would make sense i believe rakepick implied R was a person and peregrine starts with P so he's gotta have someone above him as I dunno how they'd get R out of his name. I could be mistaken but as far as I know not much has been mentioned about the mother if she's still alive or not

@@arcade7273 well cause that's her son and she probably expected him to succeed but rakepick trapped him if she was truly against R the whole time then that would be against the mom's plan if she is I'm fact the mastermind behind R. Though I am glad I'm not the only one who thinks something ain't quite right with Ben.
In a nutshell we have to wait for what jc does but one or another theory will be right in the history of the game

I thought, being a Ravenclaw she is, Olivia would be smart enough not to outrightly admit she heard 'R's plan to Rakepick. At least do some sort of countermeasures like telling Jacob about it or using Fidelius Charm to protect the secret. But, yeah, she was probably so devastated about Duncan's death that she couldn't think rationally.
About this mind-control thing, I think the reason why 'R' is so keen on the MC to join their cause probably related to their ability as a Legillimens. But, Jacob is also a Legillimens. And the counter-argument for that, if that were the case, why would Rakepick leave him trapped in the Portrait Vault if she knew their plan was involving a Legillimens? Jacob would be the first candidate as a successor of 'R', but the story up till now, it seemed to me 'R' didn't even consider Jacob as a choice or perhaps they didn't know. It was as if Rakepick didn't tell 'R' that Jacob is a Legillimens, and a powerful one at that. Really bloody confusing. Not to mention, what is the difference of this mind-control thing and Imperius Curse at this point?
For Merula...yeah, she deserved that. Even before she claimed "MC has ruined her life" she was a nasty and arrogant bully. Even though she mellowed out throughout the years, it is because she grew from it not because she wanted to make amend for her past actions with everyone she had ever bullied just like James Potter. Everyone doesn't like you is the result of your own actions. Despite that, the MC had given her a numerous chance in the past to open up and confided to the MC or their friends whatever problem troubling her. But instead of talking to someone, she stuck to her petty pride that led to her Aunt tricked her into making an Unbreakable Vow. Dating her has little to no influence on the main story. JC wrote her just for the drama if you were dating her. If it were me, I would no doubt ban her and then chose to "Scold Her" to see what script JC has written for her.
Rakepick is an idiot who "went rouge" as what Peregrine once said. Since the R members are not 100% like her, it should be no wonder she didn't follow with the plan the RIGHT way.
@@benthehalfbloodpirate I don't even trust that Peregrine dude. He might've lied to the MC for all we know. Like, no way he didn't see the news on the Daily Prophet about his son and his adventure on uncovering the Cursed Vaults that led to his expulsion from Hogwarts. Peregrine didn't have to send Rakepick or anyone, he just needed to seek for Jacob ONCE to recruit him to "R" after his expulsion and explain everything. Though, it might be because Rakepick had withheld information about Jacob to Peregrine, but is that what a good dad is? Because of his negligence that Rakepick went rouge thus rendering his plan on recruiting MC to the "R" sooner.

You did not understand ANYTHING about Merula, even at this point of the game, even in year 7, even when facts are written in front of you in lines of dialogue.
You did not notice that she was a bully only in her first and second year.
You did not notice that she opens with the MC at Year 3 at the Frog Choir quest revealing something about herself and her mother, then soon covering up a weakness of her own she just told to the MC.
You did not notice that, in The Tale of Pumpkin Johnny, which happens in Year 3, she claims that she did not destroyed Hagrid's pumpkins, and she didn't, because she could not do something mean to Hagrid.
You did not notice that, when talking to Ismelda, she doesn't actually mean the MC harm, that she has no interest in casting Cruciatus on them to interrogate them, even if she could do so, a dramatic change from the earlier couple of years.
You did not notice in Flying Solo quest that, if MC does not wipe her mind, that she responds by making it clear she has no intention of revealing either of MC or Talbott's secrets, not wishing to destroy MC life or Talbott's.
You did not notice that she did not feel affect or love even from her parents.
You did not notice from the Patronus quest that her ONLY, FLEEBLE happy memory is from her parents, the same people she says she wants to be different from. Yes: the only people with which she has the only fleeble happy memory are the same ones she doesn't want to be like.
You did not notice, from the same quest, that she can cast a Patronus only because of the encouragement of the MC, as she thanks them for that.
You did not notice that, if MC asks her for her broom for going to the Forbidden Forest searching for the Cursed Vault, she agrees because she wants to thank them for saving her from the Cursed Ice years ago, and then she gets worried because she's afraid they will get hurt, even killed.
You did not notice how positive and kind with the MC is at the beginnig of Year 7, even being fair and encouraging after beating them in wandless magic duel, and teaching them about wandless magic too, of his own free will.
You did not notice how much she wants to take down R, collaborating with the MC and Ben to get herself jinxed to not witnessing at the Trial.
You did not notice that she openly thanks MC and Tonks for being understanding that she suffers for her parents in Azkaban.
You did not notice, when the MC goes downstair with their father at the Shrieking Shack, that Merula approaches at a passed out Corey visually anxious, worried, but she immediately gets called back by her aunt.
You did not notice that, while under the orders of her aunt, SHE TELLS YOU EVERYTHING SHE CAN about R, like with the Burke stuff at the hospital.
You did not notice that she contributes SAVING MC BROTHER'S LIFE, and this WHILE she is under the orders of her aunt, too.
And, above all, you did not notice that the REAL Merula is buried under the suffering, the betrayal, the loneliness of an empty house, the threats she receives for the surname she bears.
And NO: her aunt tricking her into making an Unbreakable Vow is not for "her petty pride", but it's her aunt taking advantage of her fragilities, taking advantage of a Merula having her certainties and trust in other people ultimately broken (fragilities that I bet her aunt herself ordered Rakepick to create, considering the Cruciatus that Rakepick launched on Merula (why doing that, otherwise?) and the very mean words about her being a burden for her parents and how it is better for them to stay in Azkaban rather than stay with her they she tells Merula in the same situation).
And NO: "Everyone doesn't like you" is NOT the result of her action. Is the MC charisma on others, as if someone has more than 80 IQ and keeps her in the Circle, she has THE ENTIRE CIRCLE THAT SUPPORTS HER, with even first year students that asks her for advices.
And, in front ALL OF THIS, when this is not even everything about Merula, all you can do to reassume the character of Merula, just before she claimed that "MC has ruined her life", is that she was a "nasty and arrogant bully"?
ALL OF THIS you reassume it like that?

I am wondering if there is more to Duncan's death, it sounded like it was intentional. Also when are they going to explain the night of Rowan's death?
First off, a couple of things.
Olivia is freaking dumb for confronting Rakepick head on-she should have known better, but I guess anger trumps logical sense sometimes.
I'm surprised that they gave you the option to tell Dumbledore about your dad, which makes me wonder if the story will be greatly affected by him knowing about it or not later on.
Jacob's behavior can be construed down to two things: either he got Imperiused, or he's being hoodwinked by Pergerine which tbf sounds more likely. The protagonist can also be (chosen by the player) to go down this route too, should they pick less hostile choices when interacting with their dad.
Merula seems pretty well adjusted for getting kicked out of the Circle-I like how she's visibly confused when the protagonist empathizes with her if you chose that particular option. And I like how they also explain why Merula was unaffected during the final vault in Y6 as well.
