Thanks for the kind words! 🥰 We know we are lucky to explore the world so much and filming it is a privilege we really enjoy bringing it to people through our programs
(@Distant Shores TV) I agree completely and consider you all to be the professionals in videography for cruising. I wonder if they have a video or course teaching how to do this? Would be a great tool to have for cruisers.
Excellent design. As always, design, engineering, and R&D make a great product. All sailboats wish they had this capability. It truly makes the sailing experience much more pleasurable.
Captivating viewing from experienced pros. Not something everybody would try. Like your anchor too, mainly because we’ve just spec’d exactly that one for our 14t tri. Hope we’ve made the right decision, but the fact you’re using one gives us much more confidence.
Where we met you. Really loved that area. Can't wait to go back. We toyed with the idea of selling everything and buying a boat but not sailors and hubby not 100% on sailing. So we let others do it for us! Safe sailing and hope you sell your lovely boat soon.
Distant Shores TV I’ve been watching since I bought your dvd special pack years ago. I sail as well and have definitely enjoyed inspired by you both. (I’ve only sailed a couple thousand nautical miles from the UK to the Med, but Atlantic plans are brewing. 😉). Thanks again, love the videos!
The Exumas in the Bahamas are so beautiful. Those variable draft Southerlys are amazing and give you a lot of options to adventure in shallow waters. I wonder how many times you get people thinking "looks like another dumb yachtie ran a ground" and stop by to see if you need help. Great video Paul & Cheryl. Thanks!
LOL yes we get people coming by to check on us often. In that shallow area the natives run through in shallow skiffs and were worried for our safety. Such nice people in the Bahamas!!! Another problem we have is yachties following us since they assume we have local knowledge and are 6 feet deep draft.
I just signed up for sailing lessons in december and i’m hoping one day to sail through the caribbean with my wife. I’m happy i found your video. Afrer i take my classes, i’m sure i will have a lot of questions for you.
Congratulations! You must to have a good life going through for this beautiful places, but we have to remember that you must to have quite responsibility too, because this life style offer much risks, that worth, obviously. Thanks for sharing! it's deeply freedom!
Navigating in The Bahamas is all about the color of the water, spend a little time in a small boat, checking the depth sounder while watching the color change and you will know the depth to about a foot within a very short time. Fair Winds!!!
Well , You know, when You will die, you will not surprise by paradise. You are already there since long time. A real dream to follow You.....bye from Quebec city, Canada.
Awesome video, I realy like it, the way you show the screw function. Also the way you lie down the boat over the sand, amazing!!!! Cheers and happy sailings
Nice boat in great condition in paradise. What more could you ask for? Hmm, let me think. Best time to beach is slightly after high tide (peak) so the boat can easily be re-floated on the peak of high tide.
Love your videos, something about you, you find it very fascinating that you can beach the boat. I don’t know if it’s only me but I’d rather stay a float. Cheers
Wow - you seem to know so much about sailboats. Which other production sailboats can be used for safe beaching? For instance, 1993 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42.1 (as well as many others) have a folding keel. But is that the only criterion for safe beaching without any structural risk?
Love your channel and the education I get here is priceless. Thank you so much for giving your time and energy to this project. I consider you all to be the professionals in videography for cruising. I wonder, do you all happen to have video or course teaching how to do this? Would be a great tool to have for cruisers. God Bless you both and fair weather my friends!!!!
Hello, thank you for yet another impressing episode! I really follow you with the outmost interest and respect, having worked a "whole life" in the banking industry - I am so stoked by your bold way of breaching the waves since some decades ago.
Love your videos guys. Thinking about buying a Southerly and sailing off myself. I’m intrigued why you are flying a red ensign from Jersey? Being Canadians? Is this a tax reason? Also you are taking on crew. Is this for company or a side hustle? Thanks for letting us know.
Brunton really know their stuff, we went for the Autoprop on Impavidus as we did on our last two boats. Great performance that we are so happy with. We notice it looks like you have Copper Coat? How has this performed? We have some issues going back 4 years since we took delivery. Now looking at removal/replacement and a silicone based antifoul??? Be good to see an update on your power systems in development with Nigel? Sail Safe. Ant, Cid & the Pooch crew.
Very cool. So the keel collapses as the tide goes down and you can manually lower it as it comes up? Great way to lay flat on a beach. Amazing. What controls this? Sounded like air pressure.
In this case I think they mean beaching it and letting it be supported by its keel. You can also dry boats out on land and sometimes it is necessary to try and reduce mositure levels in the structure of a boat if there has been a problem with its construction and water has gotten in but I don't think that's the case here.
Paul I got a question about beaching a boat. Is there a way to tell if a sand bank has a rocky bottom. Or how deep would rock be? Love you guys, one day my wife and I will be cruising and living the life as y’all are. Great videos and thanks for all the helpful information.
Joe Bob In clear water by day, your eyes are the best guide. Good charts detail the bottom make up, but even when sand is all around, you can land on a rock. A good sounder will only tell so much, so if beaching at night you take a gamble. I prefer to see where I'm landing, so I sometimes check out a spot at low water on the preceding tide. Better safe than land on a rock or other foreign object.
Well, I have to tell you something. You do not help me to do my work :) I'm sitting at home during the coronavirus quarantine, and trying to do my work remotely. Am just wondering...why the hell I'm here, instead of being on that beach...
Love the pictures, music and the beautiful life you have had and still do, so very rich ❤❤❤
Thanks for the kind words! 🥰 We know we are lucky to explore the world so much and filming it is a privilege we really enjoy bringing it to people through our programs
I am so impressed with this boat and its keel, bow and stern thrusters, electrical system, and twin rudders! And what a stunning location.
such a cool feature
I agree! A masterpiece👌
Would winning the lotto get me one of these!?
Your natural evolution into You Tube has appeared to be seamless! The years of video experience shine in your productions. Thank you

You are the pioneers of this kind of video. I find them better than tv.
I feel like I'm there.
That's some pretty pro' beaching. Nice work!
Watching this while I am about to start my shift. Wish I was there. Great video..
Running it close. How exciting! - Very well done production, and I enjoy every minute.
Glad you enjoy it Garneau!

I was wondering that how I fell in love with sailing videos … now I recall , it was because of both of you .. I love you both ❤️❤️❤️
someone did a great job, this video is best sailing video I have seen
Unreal ... a dreamland. Fantastic video!
It must be awesome being able to beach your boat like that! Definitely going to be keeping my eye out for southerlys in the future!
Weather in Europe is still some sort of nice but the blue in your video is beating everything. Thanks for another excellent video!
Superbe vidéo, bravo et merci.Au fait! Bonne année 🌈⚓🐬

One of your best videos... I’m amazed at how the sea retains its turquoise colour even on a cloudy day! ❤️
It looks like paradise!!! Wish could go there!
Fascinating episode, your combined experience is wonderful to watch and learn from, thank you from London.
Nice explanation on those folding propellers
Absolutely Awe-Inspiring!! I can't wait to sail one day!!!
Stunning locations, Awesome video as always
Thanks for coming along with us Gafrers!
Nice drone footage Paul! This was a really great video, lots of good info and of course great video footage!
Thanks Joel! The area is so stunning we ending up doing quite a few drone flights to make sure we had the best footage!

This is a very beautiful place! Thank you for sharing.
What a great place to just "go for a swim!"
So beautiful. Would love to experience this one day too. Unfortunately our Lady N. doesn’t have a retractable keep.

Only my second view of your channel. I love the simple to follow and well explained details of what you reference in the ‘show’. Wonderful stuff.
Thanks Paul and welcome aboard 😅
Very nice Exuma video , good job !!!
Beautiful spot! Beautiful shots. Thank you!
Reallly enjoyed seeing the "on-purpose" run aground. Would have enjoyed some discussion about your thrusters and checking/cleaning them. Cheers
Wow you guys are so cool. I've been wanting to do something like this since the days of Blue Lagoon. I want to go sailing with you guys.
Look at that. Amazing. Found you all on AWE. Loved your experience with the lady’s who sew. Wow. Pretty neat things you are doing. Love it.

Great video from a quadrocopter and on the water.

Thanks for your kind words Jean. You are right I think the Exumas are a paradise!
I got a quick glimpse of your masthead light at night. I wondered if you show red over red when you are aground?
i would work without fee on your boat :D All I want is to see the places you've traveled
Beautiful environment. I enjoyed the music also, who is it? Would like to hear more to relax with, thank you

right? how cool is that! It must make hull cleaning a breeze!
Thanks Buch! We do indeed mostly stay afloat but just once in a while if there is a cool place to be :-)
fun video, enjoyed the talk through on the aspects of beaching and your underwater filming of the boat. and hull.
SUPER NICE!!!

Don’t know anything about sailing. But what happens if a big windy storm rolls in, being in this position, with your yacht ?
Will it still hold ?
WHY do you want the keel to drop as you rise?
please explain what "drying out the boat" means and why (if for any reason) that's important. thank you. (Great channel) :)

I asked my self that question recently more often than not ..
@JJ Bonneville well, not that smart .. i like boating too and still go everyday to the office ..
Same :D
Did he removed the centreboard or is there no centreboard
