The MDA Labor Day Telethon was an enchanting yearly variety show that ran for half a century. Hosted for many years by Jerry Lewis, the telethon featured top stars from the world of music, comedy, and Broadway and was like no other show on earth.
The telethon was created to help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which is leading the fight against muscular dystrophy. MDA dedicates itself to strength, independence and life. To learn more about MDA and to donate, please visit www.MDA.org.

She has written or co-written a number of songs, including Natasha Bedingfield's hit singles "Unwritten", and "Pocketful of Sunshine".
In January 2015, Brisebois and Alexander were nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the song "Lost Stars" from the film Begin Again.
It was 15 years (1998) and New Radicals were just a short lived moniker under which Gregg Alexander released his 3rd solo record. Keep in mind that she was 13 or 14 at this time and already had a voice. That was almost unheard of in those days!!!
Personally I always thought she was a total babe, but unfortunately she disappeared for a lot of years and we didn't get to see her turn into a stone cold fox. By the time she came back in Big Bad Mamma II, she was almost forgotten, except by the pople who loved her all those years!!!
You're right, mid 80s Danielle Brisebois might have been the hottest girl in America! But other than one final Circus of Stars & the lost gem (below) from 1985 and a few things from her failed attempt to get back in the spotlight in 87 sadly there isn't much on video for us to enjoy from that part of life. She still looked amazing on Days of Our Lives but only lasted a handful of episodes. It had been 4 years since her last significant role so she must have been desperate for work. It must have been humbling to go from co starring on a highly rated TV show with an accomplished cast to a recurring role on a daytime soap. @@bornoncentral4485 I remember that. She probably hated that soap. She was only on a few episodes as I remember. She probably had to take that role because jobs were probably getting hard to get by then. I think it had something to do with her last year on Archie Bunker's Place, she was barely on it at all. She probably went off to school or something and found she couldn't get work so she had to take horrible roles like so many of them do. But even so at least she didn't beat people up, hold up video stores, etc. I have to respect her for that!

@@solidtruth7164 In response to your last written comment, you posted a clear written illustrated mouthful!!! Indeed and respected with that last piece. I could point out former child stars that ended up with fame, notoriety as well as money that acted not only out of control, but utter spoiled brats. In addition to some getting hooked on drugs and ending up broke for sure. Danielle may have just been one of few that had sense enough not to act out like that.

I wonder if Danielle Brisebois' post Archie career fizzled because she was so gorgeous? She looked more like a cheerleader than an actress and definitely more like a cheerleader than an angry pop singer even though she also had this incredible voice. You have to give her credit for persistence. She tried everything to get back into the spotlight after ABP; two topless movies, a short soap opera stint, 2 solo records, live musical theater. I think she even dipped her cute toe into modeling. Sadly nothing clicked & her last chance at the brass ring ended prematurely when her New Radicals partner pulled the plug before her comeback had powered up. Even after this scintillating performance & having so much talent she never achieved the Fame she sang about.

That's true! They dont even do the mda telethon anymore! I used to watch it every year! It was awesome! My son is only 12 and he put it best...see he's a big Michael Jackson fan,and he asked me,if I ever heard the song,we are the world! I said..of course I have,and asked if he knew what it was about..to my surprise,he did! And then he said..see,in THOSE days people cared about other people! They saw someone hurting or in need and they pulled together for a cause and helped! NOW it's all about, keeping to yourself,not letting people in,not helping,and basically saying..yes I see you're suffering,but screw you! I got my own problems! And it's not political... everyone tries to make it political and it's not, because there's those people,on both sides!..why not,if someone is in pain..help heel them?! If someone is sad..help cheer them?! If someone is hungry..feed them! No matter who they are,just help!!...there are no more...we are the world's!!! (Again he's 12!)
@@superstarreviews9937 I think it was probably more like a fund raising event she was at. They used to do all sorts of stuff like that for mda. Penny carnivals, funk tankd, even schools got involved. That's when people had hearts and cared about the less fortunate. When you have an orange president that makes it legal to kill baby bears in their den (among his other stupidity!), humanity goes down a few notches.

I really like Danielle and most of her music. However, this is really painful to listen to.
If you think this vocal is bad, you should check out her Arrive All Over You album. Her delivery on some of those songs is atrocious, like the three minutes of screaming on What If God Fell From the Sky.

Yep, it was pretty bad. Lovely Danielle looked distracted. Maybe she had to pee? Or maybe she was just tired at the end of a long day. Remember MDA ran 22 1/2 straight hours. Even though I watched this live, 41 years later I don't recall the exact time Danielle came on. And who knows how long she had been backstage waiting to come on. If it was 3am Monday, you could definitely understand a subpar performance.

I thought she sounded and definitely looked mighty fine here. But if you think it is bad don't listen to her 1994 album. Her singing on some of those songs if you can call it singing is awful. Believe me, she did not improve with age.

I’m reading these comments and wondering if people are deaf...She IS a great singer but right here she is all over the place. But she is young here so I assume she gained a vocal coach and got better.
@@LeeHouseofD I like this version better than the original, which I like a lot! I thought she could be another dual threat acting/ singing dark haired bombshell like Laura Branigan. But being a former child star carried a stigma that torpedoed her acting career. And it was even worse in music. Radio wasn't interested in the former Stephanie Mills. It did help that as she got older she let herself go appearance wise, check out her music videos, and instead of singing she tried to mimic other bland female singers of the era. As a result her voice became kinda drab IMO.
