  • A visit to the folksiest, friendliest museum this side of the Country Bear Jamboree.....the WalMart Museum, located in the original Walton's 5-and-Dime building in the folksy, friendly town of Bentonville, Arkansas....where folks are real friendly! All joking aside, this museum is a fascinating study in globalization and is super interesting...check it out!

Little known Sam Walton fact : He would not allow his store managers or corporate headquarter managers to drive expensive cars or build fancy houses. He was fanatic about the appearance of a down home, working class image. The day they laid him in the ground, Northwest Arkansas exploded into a building boom, the likes of which Arkansas had never seen. Multi-multi millionaires went crazy flashing their wealth.

So the skinny was during my road-trips that it’s in Walmart’s charter that a section of the parking lot was reserved for people on the road who needed a place rest for the night. And sure enough every Walmart I found (which was in almost any town/city of significance) had an area reserved for resting. Which makes sense since they’re open 24/7 and available for a lot of your needs. Pro tip: find the one at the end of town in the direction you’re heading so don’t get stuck in morning rush hour cause if you’re in a major town/city, you want to be heading out, not through, traffic on your way out to your next destination. So I have to give Walmart big time props for doing that!

Great video...Now I won't have to visit that place...Use to live in Little Rock..I have been near that museum, but never went inside..Thanks for the tour..WalMart is much hated from the comment section here..Wow...WalMart is on the downward spiral..Laying off 20 year employees at corporate headquarters with absolutely no notice what so ever..numbers are in the hundreds...most position aren't being refilled...but the ones that get refilled are being replaced with people from India...WTF is going on? Corporate office looks like a foreign country office..How do these people get in this country ? Perhaps Hillary has the answer...

Walmart was the downfall of mom & pop stores. On rare occasion I find something in Walmart made in America, I think I get warm & fuzzy inside! Pair of tights $20, the girl in China gets 10¢. Even if made here think they'd still be priced roughly the same. Cost of made in America just effects profits.✌

It's hard to compete when consumers are happy in their wallets and in their morals to buy poorly manufactured products made with sub-par materials, by slave labor. Rather than buying a quality product produced by people being paid a union wage.

like most similar stores, Walmart has many great items @ really cheap or affordable prices ...
but as someone who 'shops around' before paying for almost anything, i have seen just as many really worthless items in Walmart (or all other competition stores in any class or category, including the Dollar Tree or 99¢ Only etc) that are being sold @ ridiculously high prices!
so, the best thing to do would be: Shop Around and find the best price for your desired item before you pay!
it's relatively easy to do on the Internet these days so you won't have to drive around, wasting gas, mileage and priceless TIME above all!
    _ _ _
btw, the 99¢ Only Store is no longer "Only" really since now it's selling many items as much higher prices because it has to compete with the new $1.50+ DAISU Japanese chain stores that also imports most of its item from China ... :)
DAISO is a great place to shop btw: super neat and duper clean!
and that's something i have barely seen in the messy 99¢ Only stores and others ...
DAISU also has many lovely little and useful items @ really good prices you don't see anywhere else btw ...
a folding reading glass that is sold for at least $20 elsewhere (and up to $130 in some specialty sellers online!) i managed to find in DAISU for only $1.50! amazing!

Never buy or consume food in USA if made outside USA if you value your life and health. Mexico and Canada exceptions due to NAFTA imposed standards. I love your Mom and her comments, BUT now I cannot look at the sign and not see it, but hole. Don't feel bad about the comments, the world is full of lovers and haters. Towns where I grew up were dead, When a Walmart opened up in one town local stores became more focused on service and niche sales and did very well for last 20-30 years. The malls in the large cities did damage to the small towns before walmart and many just could not survive. Malls are closing and walmarts are closing, now the "dollar" stores are popping up like acne on a teenager. The five and dimes where privately owned but bought from "chain suppliers".

I assume there won't be any UNION cards. On the Sam Walton was so dead against Unions. Man if one Walton s ran for President, they would dismantle the AFL-CIO. That way no industry would be able to Unionize. That would be a disaster
