Bassist Miho wrote the foundation for “Break The Wall”, while Miyako than added “color” to the composition. Miyako wrote the solo in the middle with Gary Moore in mind.

LOVEBITES - Break The Wall lyrics:
(DIE) No sign of my time
Cause I wish to live another life
(BY) Who will save my poor soul?
Crying alone in a dim hole
    (MY) Can't believe it's real
Cause in the end, everything is gone
(SIDE) How should I live from now?
Find myself staring at the walls
    Tonight, I'll break the wall
    It's now or never
    Now, I'm on my own
    I've gotta get free
    Bite, I'll break the chain
    Run to my shelter
    Make it out alive
I have to break through the wall
    (DIE)
    No sign of my crime
    Got my scars during wartime
    (BY)
Who's the one that did it
    Deadly venom eating me inside
    (MY)
    Spent my life in vain
    I can't forget everything I've done
    (SIDE)
    I swear to my hatred
Find myself staring at the walls
    Tonight, I'll break the wall
    It's now or never
    Now, I'm on my own
    I've gotta get free
    Bite, I'll break the chain
    Run to my shelter
    Make it out alive
I have to break through the wall
    SOLO: midori / miyako
    (DIE)
    No sign of my time
Cause I wish to live another life
    (BY)
Who will save my poor soul?
Crying alone in a dim hole
    (MY)
    Can't believe it's real
Cause in the end, everything is gone
    (SIDE)
How should I live from now?
Find myself staring at the walls
    Tonight, I'll break the wall
    It's now or never
    Now, I'm on my own
    I've gotta get free
    Bite, I'll break the chain
    Run to my shelter
    Make it out alive
I have to break through the-
I have to break through the-
I have to break through the wall

What makes these women insanely exceptional is not the influences, but how they blend them together effortlessly and perfectly. Slayer to Megadeath and then Miyako does her Gary Moore solo, and then she drops via the footboard, the Deep Purple salute before the final blast. These women are insanely talented, and they can't create or render a poor song.

I know I'm biased because I'm a LOVEBITES fanboi (I still TRY to remain as objective as I can), but I can't think of another international act that doesn't have at least some "filler" songs on some (and usually all) of their albums. LOVEBITES simply do not have any filler songs. They have good songs, great songs and masterpieces.

This song live is my single all-time favorite live thrash song performance. It's a brilliant composition. This solo run in a thrash song is amazing. Midori does classic 80's thrash, then drop it down to a nice slow bass line by Miho, and then Miyako comes in with her Gary Moore inspired solo, then it ramps up to the Slayeresque riff that began the song. The live version from the newest live DVD is equally impressive with Fami at bass. This band is just so damn good.

One of my favorites. When they do thrash like this, it's god tier. This, Thunder Vengeance and Hammer of Wrath are amazing. That's not to say I don't love the E songs - I do - they're amazing too, and Swan Song and Frozen Serenade are on another level and belong in a museum. Even so, when they lean heavily into thrash like this, it's pure bliss.

Another Miho classic, along with "Hammer Of Wrath". Let me start by saying I think Fami is about as seamless a replacement for Miho that you can get considering the level of musicianship in Lovebites, but Miho had a dynamic that's going to be hard to replace when it comes to songwriting. She had the bass/drummer connection with Haruna going back to Destrose that shouldn't be taken lightly, and she also was under appreciated in the way she was able to hold down the rhythm while Midor and Myako were doing their thing.

The best live version of this song and one of my overall faves by Lovebites! The main riff strongly reminds of Testament, in particular the riff you hear for the first time 37 seconds into the music video of their song "Over the Wall" (the first song on their debut album "The Legacy" from 1987): th-cam.com/video/V8Hr6S_uzCw/w-d-xo.html Also the heavy sound of this live version of "Break the Wall" (compared to which the studio version sounds rather tame) reminds me of the sound on "The Legacy", which was my favourite album in 1987, the difference being that Lovebites' live sound has a better quality than Testament's studio sound (which I already did like a lot).

Who the F in their right mind adds a Gary Moore solo to a Slayer-like thrash song...and make it work??!! Miyako, that's who...the virtuoso who keeps on giving. Her abilities are right up there with RR and EVH, imho. Love this song. Great reaction! 🤘

I heard one song by Lovebites (When Destinies Align) and instantly knew they were special. After hearing song number two (Holy War) I went out and purchased their entire discography. And those weren't even their best songs at the time. That was two years ago. I don't regularly listen to any other band now except Lovebites.

  • @1970Phoenix

I'll warn you in advance that some LOVEBITES fans object to them being compared to classic metal bands of the past. Personally, I think this is stupid, because being compared to these legendary bands is a big complement, and even the LOVEBITES members themselves have said on many occassions that they are influenced by other bands or musicians.

My favourite LOVEBITES thrash song. In my opinion, this is as good (or better) than anything by Anthrax, Slayer, Testament or any other well known thrash band. I mean, who throws a Gary Moore inspired blusey solo into the middle of a thrash song?

Meant to bring this up on your last Nemophila reaction, but I had mentioned once how Nemophila's Saki was kind of a big sister to a lot of the young female shredders and used have a small annual tour with a mostly rotating lineup of female guitarist called World Guitar Girl's Collection. I just came across the WGGC medly performance at NAONのYAON 2018 that had s pretty good lineup. There's of course Saki (Nemophila, Mary's Blood), Hal-Ca (Asterism), Ayumi (Astrovery), Tomo-Zo (Gacharic Spin, Doll$Boxx), Marin Miyazawa (LoVendoR), Yashiro (Mary's Blood) and Tamu Murata (Nemophila) as the support drummer. Its basically a 9 minute medley of the ladies jamming to various popular metal songs. Heres a link to it th-cam.com/video/KMeOj2_BlZg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Qz3MQtFqagLLX0ei
NAONのYAON is an annual festival held in Tokyo produced by Show-Ya, an all female metal band formed in the '80s and still one of Japan's biggest metal draws. The festival was created by Show-Ya front woman Keiko Terada to help promote girls in music and has been held on and off for 25 years. Its held at a prestigious outdoor venue in Tokyo and has performances by established all female acts as well as up and coming bands. As far as the band Show-Ya, thats another rabbit hole worth pursuing. Their guitarist Miki "Sun-Go" Igarashi is an idol to a lot of Japanese girls, including Saki who's stage presence has a lot of young Sun-Go in it. Show-Ya has been just as influential in Japan as Led Zepplin and Metallica in the West, and Sun-Go has got a pretty killer signature tone going back to the mid 80's, kind George Lynch/Jimmy Page like, imo. Anyway, I'm sure your plate is full, but Show-Ya ia definitely worth looking into at some point. At least youll have some idea what NAON is because im sure youll run into a few live performance you from it.

Dude that was awesome!! Thanks for this!! Was that Tamu on drums and whose the chick on bass. Hal-ca looks like a freaking baby face LOL! Never really got into Gacharic Spin they got a lot going on for my taste but Tomo-zo can shred!! All those girls rocked!! They got more of these? Saki is so freaking beautiful!! Love the matching kimono and guitar!

    • @BulletProofSoul1029
      @BulletProofSoul1029 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@CaptainTripz I think Hal-Ca was just turning 16, and Tomo-Zo can play almost anything. Gacharic Spin can get Jazzy, Blues, Funk Rock and then there's Doll$Box and Metallic Spin that's more metal. Gacharic Spin has a guitar instrumental that lets her shine a bit. I'm not that familiar with the bassist but her and Tamu were the rhythm sections on all the WGGC Naon shows and they did a great job holding everything together, especially with 6 guitarist on a 7 song medley. What I love the most is how much fun they're all having, no egos, everybody has their moments to shine. It's just one big jam session. You could tell Hal-Ca was having a blast. And Saki's guitar cool. It's hard to tell, but the pick guard has these gears on it like in a steam punk motif. It was her primary guitar in Mary's Blood before she went 7 string. You can find the 2017 Naon performance on Mary's Blood official page ans the uploader on the link I gave also has 2019, but his copy skips like 30 seconds at the end, which sucks because it's an energetic outro of Japan X's "Kurenai". There is another copy on YT, but the sound is low. The one I would love to see but haven't seen anywhere is 2021 Naon WGGC performance with Saki, Hazuki, Lisa-X and Yashiro.
