10:34 it's called a roll-over. It is probably a system that is in base 2 with seven digits. If you had seven binary numbers. You could represent 128 possible numbers. He probably shortened it to be 120 because rhat number was more round.
0000000 would be the value for floor 1
0000001 for floor 2
0000010 for floor 3
0000011 for floor 4
0000100 for floor 5
all the way to 120 where it would look like this
1111001 for floor 120 where he would add 8 to the count, and it would go to zero. It's a bit like counting upward and having the number 0 follow nine, you're basically ignoring (more like cutting off) the 1 thats in front of the 10 to make it zero? Since you only have 1 digit.
I'd argue that at least for Penny, marriage does not ruin her life. She wants to get away from her mother and to have a big family, both of which you can help her do. Plus, she still tutors Jas and Vincent so she doesn't give up her own career as well
Leah also clearly enjoys life on the farm. She continues sculpting and spending time in nature. I think the modern idea that you can’t be happy taking care of a family / marriage ruins your life is inaccurate.

Same with Maru. She still goes to work and visits her parents, and still often creates inventions
For Harvey he still goes to the clinic, but usually only when people are expecting their check ups. In a way, I think this is good because he becomes less of a workaholic and relaxes in his little garden and reads some books. He also still messes with his radio and all.
But when it comes to Shane and Sam and Sebastian, marriage really doesn't do them good. Iirc, seb wants to leave farm life, yet stays just for you. Shane is still an alcoholic, and he doesn't really interact with his family, and sam pretty much seems to give up on his band dream (I haven't married him but this is what I have been told from Sam romancers)
The whole lack of parents could be explained by the on-going war.
it may also be a parody/homage to how parents being missing is shoehorned in as easy plot devices in hollywood/disney. sdv has a TON of hints and nods to pop culture. the flower dance is to the tune of norwegian wood by the beatles.

We can make a theory that states that Eric is in endless loop of dying and forced to come back to life again and again and again

I know I'm late to the party but there's another character that has PTSD other than Kent: Harvey. One of Harvey's dialogues when you get married to him says that he "has nightmares about your limp body being carted into the emergency room." There are also hints that he may have had a previous patient die on him and has never been able to accept that.
Yes, he also talks about how memories become heavier when you get older which hints that he's been involved in some traumatic stuff most probably related to his job

27:47 Alex's parents aren´t "missing". In his 8 heart event he tells you that his mother passed away from an illness and his dad (who wasn't a good person according to him) left him after that, that's why he lives with George and Evelyn

I agree with the theory that you ruin your spouse's life but there are some exceptions. I think Harvey's life definitely improves, he still has his clinic but he's also just chilling at the farm and he seems very content with it.
and shane, because he, iirc, quits drinking alcohol. or powers it down a few pegs.
I think the same thing goes for Maru as well, she still works at the clinic as she would normally, and even visits her parents from time to time, I cant say about the other spouses though because I only married Maru lmao
Penny, too. She gets out of Pam’s trailer and often talks about how she’s glad she doesn’t have to essentially babysit her mother anymore. She still teaches the kids, but at the end of the day comes back to a nice big house with a loving partner and a little dog. She even has her own library. I haven’t had Robin build Pam a house yet, but I’ll get round to it soon because I like her and I can tell she cares about Penny. Maybe she’ll stop drinking as much too?
@@thatsnotmoon808 true, it's not like maru and penny are only wandering around the farm but it still feels like they are not going where they are supposed to go. They're still stuck in stardew valley when in theory, they could've done much more with their lives. I guess it's mostly because they are portrayed as young adults who are not necessarily ready to settle down, whereas Harvey has everything figured out except for his family life.
@@kariissmol9172 Shane too, I agree. I think it's because both Shane and Harvey are older so it feels more logical to be married to them. With the younger marriage candidates it just feels like you're taking away their potential

You say you don't trust grandpa because the farm was in disrepair when you got there, but I want to remind you that
1. He's dead
2. The time between his passing and you opening the letter isn't stated
Your character could have been a teen when grandpa died, so that could mean the farm has been unused for about 10 years.
I think 20 years is the time between opening the letter and meeting grandpa. He says in his evaluation that when he last met the Farmer they were very young (Maybe like 5).
Yeah, I always imagined the farmer being a young child when grandpa died based on how he talks to them (also when it cuts to joja it says XX years later, so presumably at least ten)
Also time is far quicker in game than irl. I don’t really know what the math but it honestly could have been a year or two and everything falls apart. Idk just a thought

Penny also acknowledges Gunther's existence. In some of her dialogue after you marry her she says something about getting a book from the library and how Gunther asked her to say hi to the player for him.

in normal dialog she talks about how u can give artifacts to Gunther in the museum too. its interesting tho, ive noticed she has a big love for artifacts and other things.
Perhaps she can see Gunther because she spends so much time with Vincent and Jas (because she tutors them)
Benevolent ghosts probably try to comfort the hurt and lonely, making it likely that Penny can see him.
@@sapphireclawe That's both cute and sad at the same time. But could work because of Penny's home life and her tendency to be by herself and how shy she seems. But she still acknowledges him after you marry her and she seems pretty happy to be on the farm. Maybe the ghost became attached to her and decided not to leave.

6:14, we were playing in multiplayer trying to complete a bundle in multiplayer, we were reaching fall and were happy we could finally get the apples, when a fucking meteorite fell on the tree and destroyed it, needless to say we were pissed

Regarding the theory that Abigail is the wizard's daughter, I feel like Caroline might actually be his daughter instead? So the wizard is Abigail's grandfather. That would explain her purple hair and the wizard saying he has a child who lives in town, AND the wizard's ex-wife is a green witch, which is why Caroline has green hair. Caroline is also the only other character in the game except for Abby and the wizard to have unnaturally colored hair (except for Emily, but I have a feeling she dyes it).

Except that sometimes when you talk to Caroline, she mentions Abigail dyes her hair purple and wishes she would let it go back to it's natural color (which I think is brown iirc?)
@@pison1000 This is a known weird conflict in dialogue because Abigail also has dialogue that states whenever she dyes her hair away from purple it always ends up fading back to purple, meaning that purple is her natural colour.
Abi specifically states that when she dyes it purple it DOESNT fade. It just sticks around. Her natural hair color that she was born with was very similar to Pierre's hair. Part of me likes to believe that Caroline is the daughter, and Abigail inherited just a tad bit of appearance altering magic she can't quite control well which keeps the purple from fading as it's quite likely her favorite

Linus used to be the owner of a small but profitable company known for its honest dealings and good treatment of customers and employees. He got forced out and the new owners renamed the company to Joja. The rest is history.

I don't know about 'ruining the spouse's life' I mean, at the very least, Penny fulfills her dream to have a family on her own, Sean could overcome his problems and improve, Haley literally improves as a person, the only ones I can think off that they may had their dreams ruined may be Sam, Sebastian and Alex

@@yumeyumedi yeah, seb wanted to escape the life that he was having at the moment. he isnt the favorite kid in the family, tried to find a way to cope with having a stepdad that ignores him, but he cant because the town is too small. thats why he wants to move to the city. but i believe that after moving in with the player, having someone that he loves and finally running away from his family, then everythings alright.
My immediate explanation for what Pierre’s “secret stash” is one I never expected so few people to know about. There’s a concept popularized by eastern Asian media with domestic themes called “Black Funds”. Basically, in a traditional household of a salaryman, the wife acts as a treasurer for the family, and any money the husband brings home must be given to the wife for safekeeping and management. Some salarymen, as a pushback against this traditional household rule, keep a bit of his earnings for himself in a secret stash, unbeknownst to his wife, so that he may spend it on anything that he wants without anyone knowing. Hence, “Black Funds”. It’s a very common gag for lighthearted comedy shows to show salarymen hiding their “Black Funds” in innocuous places like under the carpet or behind the bookshelf. It’s really not anything dark like drugs or porn, it’s just money.
If you don't want anybody knowing what you are buying, drugs and porn sound like likely candidates. Whatever it is, it's shameful enough to not want anybody to know.
Tell me why, this entire time, I thought that the Travelling Merchant and Caroline were the same person. When I read their line about smuggling goods from the Empire I was like wow ok girlboss but it turns out THAT’S NOT CAROLINE? I mean that makes more sense because I always wondered where she kept the pig and how she could be in two places at once, but assumed it was a bit of a fault with game mechanics. Wow I’m dumb.
Caroline goes on private vacays to gotoro empire, that’s my new head cannon.

I have an Easter egg I haven’t heard anyone talk about.
During one of Harvey’s events, he’s trying to connect to an airline radio. He states Stardew Valley’s coordinates. I decided to look them up a long time ago and it’s somewhere in Russia in the real world.
I did this a long time ago so you might need to check again on the coordinates
Stardew has its own world map, though. It might make more sense to compare to that one, though that was done a while back already by someone else.

I don't know about the other bachelors and I've seen good mentions about some bachelorettes, but Elliott seems like his life improves when he moves to the farm. He mentions taking better care of himself, he doesn't have the dialog from when he was living on the beach about being afraid of dying alone as a hermit on the beach, the farmer helps him finish his first book and go on his first book tour, and he regularly talks about enjoying life on the farm.

Penny goes from sharing a poor run-down trailer with her abusive alcoholic mother to raising a family in a massive house on a farm, while still being able to teach Jas and Vicent every day. If that's not an improvement, I don't know what is.
If Shane is 10 years older than Sebby and Shane's Sebby's father Sebby was born when Shane was 10. The math doesn't work.

Ruining your Spouse's life because you take away their aspirations and routine is exactly why Krobus is the best. My man *loves* sticking in the same spot and loves you man. Best housemate.
Harvey has the same advantages. He still has his job and hobbies, he didn't have any big plans like moving or anything, you bring financial stability with the farm (his clinic was somewhat struggling) and he even faces his fear of heights for you! If anything, his life is better when married to the player.

21:02 Lewis and Marnie's bush scene is not a random event. You can only see it after finding a secret note that gives you clues to when and where it happens. Then you must shake a specific bush at the correct time of day, and only then will they jump out and run away

The theory is that Shane got someone pregnant at the age of 10, likely ruining her life and he becomes so overwhelmed with guilt and depression that he turns to alcohol, which suggests that Shane is adopted which would make sense if Mary was older than him because his room is in the basement and some of the upstairs rooms are unnecessarily taken.

The marnie and Lewis bush scene is not random chance, there’s a note telling you what time to do it and I believe it’s like 12:40 am? Very late.
New theory: Linus is a druid. It explains why he was in the adventuring party, why he's friends with the wizard, and why he elects to live in a tent close to nature.

My only flex in my life is that I completed the pirate king journey without dying (It took me about 100 hours lol) I really sold my soul to this f'king mini-game :') I touched the mini-game after that not a single time and I don't think I will ever will again.

to add to the abigail theory, the wizard mentions that he divorced the witch after he "made a mistake". my theory is that his mistake was having an affair with caroline which resulted in abigail.

He wanted to give it to you trashed, so you could build it up, like he did. Grandpa wanted that adventure for you. I feel the time-gap is essential (for it to make sense that the farm is literally abandoned)

Don't know if this has already been mentioned, but the creepy phone call from the final layer can happen after you've turned at least one of your kids into doves. So it's your own transformed children calling you to ask why you've forsaken them.

I don't really think you ruin your spouse's life by marrying them, of course in some cases it kinda feels like it (ex. sam or sebastian) but with characters like shane it's just not really the case, since obviously he seems a lot happier and thanks to the fact that you have a farm, you help him with his dream of having a chicken farm (plus, he already hated his job at joja, and when he marries you he still visits marnie and jas pretty often). i mean, he does mention stuff about moving out of pelican town so maybe that would be the only thing where you do kinda ruin his plans :c
EDIT: plus, on shane's case- marrying the farmer and getting to the 14 heart event it is shown that shame gives up on alcohol almost completely (almost, because he still has dialogue abt beer and stuff) and is in a much better place
I don't know that it's "ruining their life" given that the character dialogue includes them indicating they've been thinking about other goals or "pondering a life on a farm." Sebastian's 8-heart event is him driving the player to a clifftop that he hasn't brought anyone else to, and he tells the player that "he had wanted to move to the city, but he's realized he doesn't feel the same way anymore." So, his goals change before marriage is even an option.

About the cursed call i believe it haf something to do about turning kids into doves. Kinda like what happens with the cursed channel on TV.
As for the secret note 11. Jas moved in with Shane a few months before the farmer and even if Jas and Marnie are related... Jas revealed that Shane is her godfather. Shane technically is his cousin if they Jas and Marnie are related maternally.
Marnie is taking care of Jas who is someone else's kid not related to her

i never turned my kids to doves, but i would love to see that when people turn their kids to doves, the try to ruin the garden like crows do. And scarecrows wouldn't work, as a sort of punishment i guess. assuming that when people actually get kids in the games and get enough to sacrifice a prismatic shard, that a couple of crops gone per season isn't that devastating

queen of sauce isn't gus. the episode that teaches pink cake explicitly references Haley trying her pink cake while out of town and requesting that she share the recipe on the show.

For Haley, marriage actually changes her for the better! She still takes photographs, but she talks about how she actually likes nature and she does charity and stuff!
One of the biggest mysteries I've always wanted to know. Is what that monster/creature whatever it is calls out during rainy days. It sound like a mysterious dragon like cry. It was so eerie the first time I heard it and wondered where it came from.
I honestly don't think anyone knows, my theory was that it was just regular sounds in Stardew just slowed down

One of the noises is a frog; you get the same noise every day if you marry Sebastian and decide to nurse the frog back to health

12:14 this sound affect plays when one or multiple of your animals are left outside over night. there is a small chance that this sound will play indicating that one of the animals outside were eaten by a fox or another creature. you will also end up losing that animal of course.

You press the bottom right nail on the "W" in "Stardew Valley" 10 times, causing butterflies to show up. The leaf is not set to any specific leaf, just click the leaf 10 times or so, and Junimos show up, not butterflies.
30:16 the Fall 26th curse entry actually refers to a TV channel "???" only found the day before Spirit's Eve. if you turned your kids into doves before, the channel will be there. clicking it will show an Ancient Doll on the TV and say ""You've brought this upon yourself... now I'm free... Hee hee hee!" from then on, an Ancient Doll will attack you at the Shrine of Selfishness. neat stuff
What he referred to is the strange phone call you can get any time after turning a child into a Dove.
I've definitely got some pretty good luck when it comes to seeing rare stuff in Stardew. I saw the sea monster once, got the living hat, the tea set, and Robin's super rare "Lew...oh." dialogue (all on different saves). The sea monster was so cool!
Also, I'm surprised the dwarves actually being aliens wasn't mentioned on the original iceberg, as well as the Yoba creation myth from the Book of Yoba. It also would have been cool if they included other lesser known non-accessible locations in the world of SD, like Prairie island.

Sebastion and Abigail being siblings would be a little unsettling because when you marry Maru, you can get a dialogue from her that basically indicated that Sebastian like Abigail in a romantic way..

Well, obviously all bachelors and bachelorette are counterparts to each other. Alex-Haley, Abigail-Sebastian, Sam-Penny, Elliot-Leah, Emily-Harvey, etc, meaning that if you don’t marry none of them it could be interpreted that with time, those pairs will eventually happen.

Regarding the tax fraud section. In the United States there are a ton of agriculture tax breaks and exemptions for farms as farms are critical for food production and sustaining life.
I would say "Alien theory" refers more to the hints that Dwarves actually are aliens of some sort. They call themself "sky people" and the helmets are a reference to old style alien astronaut helmets from movies. There are a few other hints as well, can't remember all of them, though...

Probably because it's one of the easiest theories to come up with, you don't really need to get creative with a theory like that, it's does most of the work on its own.
I can confirm that the item spawn code name thing is most certainly NOT fixed on mobile. Every time someone says my name I get a magic rock candy and a treasure chest.

When I found out you could marry someone in stardew valley I immediately looked for the most miserable single npc in the game which I originally thought was Sebastian, but then I found out Shane was some depressed drunken middle aged man and was like: Yep, this is the man for me. Also the first time he said I was "nibbling" on pizza roles that really made me uncomfortable and caught me off guard XD
They’re both miserable but in different ways.
The spouses all have lives still off the farm. For example Emily visits her sister and works at the tavern, Penny still teaches the kids, Maru still works.

Hate to butt in so late, as many item spawning friendly players would confirm, spawned rings do not give their status effects or do anything. They become a blank item in the code that just clogs inventory. I have yet to test if you can combine them with a different ring to make them useable again, but until then do not spawn in rings.
On the subject of Gunther being a ghost and not being seen outside of the library, I saw Gunther in the cinema one early morning. When you try to engage in dialogue, he says something along the lines of "I must get to the library for opening".
He also shows up at the farm for a cutscene at some point

I don't agree with the ruin your spouses life thing as stardew kind of exists in that video game limbo that is common in these kind of small team titles. (a single person is still a small team)
Off hand only a few characters even express a desire to do something outside of the town, big ones that come to mind are Sebastion, Alex, and Haley i think. Most of the others seem quite content to life in town and do their thing. Elliot and leah are a writer and painter so living on the farm with you seems to have no major impact on how they live their lives. Penny, Emily, Harvey, also all seem quite content to live in the town and continue their usual routines even once they live with you.
Maru, my personal pick for go to wife seems quite happy to work on her equipment on the farm vs working on it at her parents house, but she will still hang out with penny and her parents on regular days. Sure her father has high hopes for his daughter's future, she has no stated concerns about doing her work in the big city.
Shane straight up benefits from marrying you and seems quite happy to live on the farm with purpose.
Elliot’s 14 heart cutscene is about his career so in a way marrying him is the only way for him to achieve his goals
27:46 We learn in one of alexs cutscenes that his mother died from skme illness and his dad left them i believe. Also pennys dad is missing but she says he keft them because he felt trapped. So Jas' parents and Sebastian's dad are just completely unaccounted for from what i know.

In SV expanded the wandering merchant is a good friend of one of the new npc's and is technically an informant for stuff that's going on on the empire, she's also a smuggler for gotoro goods in the mod. (this is probably the case because mature events is on on my save file)
